Zevon, Warren - Disorder In The House Lyrics

Disorder in the house
The tub runneth over
Plaster's falling down in pieces by the couch of pain

Disorder in the house
Time to duck and cover
Helicopters hover over rough terrain

Disorder in the house
Reptile wisdom
Zombies on the lawn staggering around

Disorder in the house
There's a flaw in the system
And the fly in the ointment's gonna bring the whole thing down

The floodgates are open
We've let the demons loose
The big guns have spoken
And we've fallen for the ruse

Disorder in the house
It's a fate worse than fame
Even the Lhasa Apso seems to be ashamed

Disorder in the house
The doors are coming off the hinges
The earth will open and swallow up the real estate

I just got my paycheck
I'm gonna paint the whole town grey
Whether it's a night in Paris or a Fresno matinee

It's the home of the brave and the land of the free
Where the less you know the better off you'll be

Disorder in the house
All bets are off
I'm sprawled across the davenport of despair

Disorder in the house
I'll live with the losses
And watch the sundown through the portiere

  12. M.... S....

I'm not familiar with Zevon but was he as good as Springsteen?

    M.... S....

He was in my book, twice over.

    M.... S....

@Regicidal Friend I loved what Warren said about Bruce in the documentary about the making of this album. "The great thing about Bruce is that when you meet him he actually EXCEEDS your expectations." PS- please ignore my Facebook handle, it's a long story.

  13. R.... S....

    We've fallen for the ruse

    Happy 72nd birthday, in absentia.

  19. A.... V....

Only someone who is a right wing nut job or a Russian troll scumbag (or both) would give this a thumbs down.

Hi, I would love to get a petition on Care2.org to get Warren into the Hall of Fame. I don't know enough about his career to write the petition on my own, and I don't want to rely just on Wikipedia. If you could help me by writing about his career, people he collaborated with, etc., I would be happy to add to it and edit it and get the petition up on the site. I think it's a criminal thing that this genius has not been inducted. I cannot believe people like Springsteen, Linda Ronstadt, and all the others who obviously loved him and his music and collaborated with him, have not lobbied hard to get him in there. If they won't do it, we will. I see you have 180,000 views on this video alone. If even half of those people were to sign the petition, we would get the attention of the Hall of Fame. Please let me know if you want to work on this with me, because I can't do it alone.

  26. E.... S....

this is the drummer for the traveling wilburys can't think of his name the best studio drummer ever that's why George Harrison got him he was so humble he wouldn't let George make him a wilbury he said I'm a side bury I need to stay in my place.wow!

    E.... S....

    Jim Keltner....one of the best!

    E.... S....

    Jim Keltner

I ALWAYS LOVED WARREN!!! Drank with him at The Blue Note in Boulder in 1976 with Zephyr and Candy Givens. What a BLAST!!! Warren was a MADMAN!!!!! His life may have been too short but it was FULL!!!! God Bless Warren Zevon.

Go to work, Bruce! Bruce shreds it!

  32. M.... E....

    T'aint come no better!

  33. D.... M....

    What a great song!

  34. R.... ....

The Perfect Song to Describe "The Trump Administration!"

    R.... ....

wow, since the song was written decades before trump became president, just shows what an idiot YOU are

    R.... ....

joho4151 it was 13 years, not decades and prophetic Joho... So who’s the idiot? Or more likely a Russian troll.

    R.... ....

@joho4151 One of the most idiotic posts I've seen on this site~~~and that's saying a lot. Music is timeless. You're the idiot.

    R.... ....

    Sure, and totally awesome

  35. b.... c....

Shame on you people for giving this a thumbs down! Would love to see what You accomplish in your last month on earth!

    b.... c....

They'll produce a Britney Spears album... before being torn apart by music lovers.

    b.... c....

    Eggsactly

    b.... c....

People who gave this a thumbs down must not know this won a Grammy! Keep listening to Top 40 Crap, since don't know difference from Quality to Crap!

    b.... c....

No need to even qualify the circumstances. Most artists would be proud to create The Wind on their best days of their prime.

  36. D.... L....

I have had the album for many years and to be honest I don't like this track - "disorder in the house". The boss' contribution is not great musically, it reminds me of my teenage years jamming in the garage. Maybe some will justify that as "disorder in the house" but I can't enjoy it.
there are some wonderful songs on this album but unfortunately a few tracks are not good. the cast was good and the intention sincere but the producers role was ignored.
Still his greatest record is his first - Excitable Boy and my favorite album of all time.

    D.... L....

That was not his first record.

  37. l.... f....

Who are the 17 fuckers who put thumb down?

    l.... f....

lazio fogna, just your typical youtube fuckwits that don't know shit

  38. r.... ....

    How prophetic

    r.... ....

You mean Trump's white house? That crossed my mind a few times.

    r.... ....

I noticed the same with American Idiot. Both were written in the context of the Bush administration. But now it's as if that administration was just the set up to the punchline, which is Trump's Presidency.

  39. M.... T....

    Loved that.

    M.... T....

I love: Warren, Bruce, the song, the drummer, the little candids, the beat. J'adore!

    M.... T....

Mungo Jerry, In The Summertime, of course!! Yes, grandparents from Austria. Do you know what it means? This is a test. I know, of course. You're not a Bruce fan? You know his proper name so you must be to a certain extent.

    M.... T....

A great first entry! (I've never been to Austria; Vienna is on my list of what I'd do if I won the lottery! Since I don't play the lottery. . .)

  40. E.... ....

God willing I'll see Warren on the other side...

    E.... ....

    But first enjoy every sandwich

  41. w.... k....

  44. p.... ....

The late great....great great Warren Zevon. What a talent

  45. F.... ....

Look at their faces, having fun jamming together. Just enjoying each other's company! That's the spirit of rock 'n roll!

  46. M.... B....

Great song, an angry rocker from Warren's last album & some scorching gee-tar from Bruce. "It's the home of the brave/And the land of the free/Where the less you know/The better of you'll be."

  47. s.... ....

Warren Zevon, Bruce Springsteen, Jorge Calderon and the great Jim Keltner.

This recording from Zevon's final album garnered the late artist his only Grammy. Thanks to Bruce for attracting the mainstream attention that made such possible.

  48. M.... M....

The less you know, the better off you'll be.....

  49. T.... H....

    The tub runneth over.

  50. c.... b....

Does anyone now if Warren Zevon and Bruce Springsteen sang together anyother times?

    c.... b....

+cobalt blue Bruce sang a song in concert called Janey Needs a Shooter and Warren Zevon liked it so much, he kept asking Bruce about doing the song that Bruce said, "You like it so much, why don't YOU write it?" Zevon wrote it and called it Jeannie Needs a Shooter. Bruce included it in his published songbook and gave Zevon co-writing credit, but to my knowledge they never recorded or performed it together.

    c.... b....

    Brilliant!

    c.... b....

+Brian Mann Does anyone else now about this get together?

    c.... b....

There is a VH1 documentary on you tube about the making of this album (The Wind) called Inside (Out) Warren Zevon. Great documentary with Warren and his great friends Jackson Browne, Springsteen, Billy Bob Thornton, Dave Barry, David Letterman, et al. Well worth watching. Zevon was a heavy dude. One of the best.

  51. A.... D....

Fantastic track brilliant lyrics - Sprawled across the davenport of despair!

  52. B.... v....

This is definitely different for Bruce. But his voice makes anything better:)

WITH TIME RUNING OUT FOR WARREN THEY STILL DID IT WITH STYLE

    B.... G....

    what can i say your # 1

    B.... G....

@kevin j clapper OK gray not red, are you happy now, know it all???!!!

    B.... G....

Brian Grant still breaks my heart. #zevon

    B.... G....

+Lisa B - I just don't feel like going to #zevon but possibly you already know that Brian Grant is, unfortunately, no longer amongst his beloved Zevonites, God Rest His Soul, 3/29/17. I will say no more. I used to speak with him on posts and on the phone from 2014. He was about a month short of turning 59 and his family and friends miss him. Please say a prayer or play a great (most of them) Zevon song in memory of him. Thank you.

    B.... G....

This duet richly deserved its Grammy award!

  57. b.... ....

Wow. Everyone who wants to comment on WZ's earlier life should judge themselves first! After all as Jim Croce wrote, "it's what we've done, makes us what who we  are". What a privileged age we live in to have this performance live on! Apparently Springsteen thought enough of him to show up!

    b.... ....

+David Lawrence and who are you? I wish you didn't comment here. But hey sometimes gives you shit and you just gotta scrap it off your shoe. lol

    b.... ....

+David Lawrence and who are you? I wish you didn't comment on here. But hey sometimes life gives you 💩shit, and you just gotta scrap it off your shoe 👟. lol

    b.... ....

maybe you need to scrape the shit out of your ears so you can hear what I'm talking about!

    b.... ....

David Lawrence, well Warren Zevon, who possesses more musical talent, nuance, and creative genius in his pinky finger than you do in your entire body, doesn't agree with you about Bruce. We're all going to have to go with a brilliant musical mind like WZ as opposed to...who are you again? What awards have you won? What influence have you had? That's what I thought.

    b.... ....

@David Lawrence They were good friends going way back to the early 1970s and Warren was quite excited by Bruce's visit. Springsteen left his family to come fly out and visit Warren over Christmas. Did you view the documentary made about the making of this last album? Ignore my Youtube handle- I use it to troll Trump apologists.

  58. V.... L....

  59. j.... c....

you are him!so good the mighty Warren Z

  60. D.... T....

There is a lovely article in this months Uncut magazine (June 2014) about Warren, including the story about this video. http://lastpop.wordpress.com/2014/05/10/his-solo-killed-the-amp/

  61. D.... B....

Zevon last album was sad knowing it was his last. Great talent.

    D.... B....

Yes, he was a great talent. Man, if he would have just taken better care of himself. Sad.

    D.... B....

@Dwight Brocious Truth be told, it's hard to know when you're breathing in asbestos. That's what caused his death. Asbestos particulates that causes a rare cancer that he had, mesothelioma.

    D.... B....

@George Mason Didn't know that. Thanks.

    D.... B....

@Dwight Brocious No problem. It's a terrible thing.

    D.... B....

@George Mason I was hoping he'd win his fight with cancer. Seemed like a nice guy. Very talented.

Zevon, a devout songwriter, a man with a big heart, a perfectionist, a dark sense of humor and immense fortitude. I wish he didn't have to go.RIP

First time I've seen this, thanks for sharing!!!

  66. c.... ....

Over 36,00 views, and ONE down vote. Who was that dumb fuck?

"You are him!"  LOL  Miss Warren Zevon.  A truly exceptional songwriter and musician.  RIP

  68. b.... j....

This aint no top 40 bullshit...Its life and death .....You kids need to tune in and understand what music should be. Enjoy the ignorance and arrogance of youth...you will learn later on I assure you.

  72. D.... B....

Disorder In the House. thy will be done

  74. t.... ....

Well, Bruce baptized him, brotha. Just like Warren wanted? yeah--

  75. t.... ....

Just cool 4me to see two great artists like BSpringsteen & WZevon, who obviously respect and admire each other, sharing their gift with each other and for each other-- one more time ...kk

    ssurfcity best interview EVER!

  77. T.... H....

Jesus is going to kick that priest's ass.

  78. W.... ....

Be prudent on your comments, there's not error at all! This song is on "The Wind" and not on "Every Sandwich"!!!!
Even if I don't considere myself as a specialist, I know Warren's carreer.
For the rest of your comment you're completly right!

    home of the brave

    where the less you know-
    the better off you'll be

  83. d.... ....

WZ saved the best for the last.

  84. b.... ....

Warren was taking loads of morphine to help with the pain. Yeah, he was on drugs, but this wasn't a recreational activity for him, this time around. The cross on his neck? He wanted to be a Catholic before he died, but apparently the priest his friends contacted said it would take longer than he had to live. Frankly, I would have told the Catholic Church to FIND a priest with more compassion ... I find it hard to believe a priest couldn't have visited him and baptized him a Catholic. Sad.

  85. c.... ....

Great stuff. I like it a lot.

  86. I.... a....

He looks under the weather here...RIP

  87. F.... a....

@Skwerrlly He died of asbestos poisoning.

  88. J.... ....

@TheTizf I think what you saw is Bruce showing him something that was hanging around his neck and it reflected.

  89. T.... F....

in a certain moment seems that Bruce is somking a cigarette, isn't it?

  90. D.... H....

If you have seen the documentary "Keep Me In Your Heart" you will find out he was indeed on drugs during the filming. They were pain meds for the mesothelioma he was dying from. He talks very candidly about it. So no "tsk tsk" but simply easing his way.

  91. 4.... ....

Warren sure was blessed in the amazing musical friends he had! People like Springsteen, Jackson Browne, and so many others

  92. S.... ....

@TelecasterLPGTop,part two!.Warren was an up front kind of person, always baring his soul for the world to see, holding nothing back, and if he were here today,I think that it would be YOU he would be giving the "Tsk,tsk, tsk" too!I hope that we have not gotten to the point where people are downed for speaking the truth here, that would be a shame, and smacks of censorship, which is "ad nauseam"!

  93. S.... ....

@TelecasterLPGTop.I did'nt say he was taking drugs at the time of his death did I?
Please don't put words in my mouth,or more correctly,my reply! : )Or jump on me because I mentioned his addictions, they were,in fact,a BIG part of who he was,and saying something absurd such as,"Don't attach moral judgement,or a tsk tsk tsk",shows some immature behavior on your part.

  94. F.... B....

@ColtonCernyMusic Yes it is indeed a sacred place when such people make music like this in that place.
