Yes - Turn Of The Century Lyrics

Realising a form out of stone,
Set hands moving.
Roan shaped his heart,
Through his working hands.
Worked to mold his passion into clay,
Like the sun.

In his room, his lady,
She would dance and sing so completely.
"So be still," he now cries,
"I have time, oh let clay transform thee so."

In the deep cold of night,
Winter calls, he cries "Don't deny me!"
For his lady, deep her illness.
Time has caught her,
And will for all reasons take her.

In the still light of dawn, she dies.
Helpless hands soul revealing.

Like leaves we touch, we learn.
We once knew the story.
As winter calls he will starve,
All but to see the stone be life.

Now Roan, no more tears.
Set to work his strength,
So transformed him.
Realizing a form out of stone,
His work so absorbed him.

Could she hear him?
Could she see him?
All aglow was his room,
Dazed in this light.
He would touch her,
He would hold her.

Laughing as they danced,
Highest colors touching others.

Did her eyes at the turn of the century,
Tell me plainly.
How we'll meet, how we'll love,
Oh, let life so transform me.

Like leaves we touch, we dance.
We once knew the story.
As autumn called and we both,
Remembered all those many years ago.
I'm sure we know.

Was the sign in the day with a touch,
As I kiss your fingers.
We walk hands in the sun,
Memories when we're young,
Love lingers so.

Was it sun through the haze,
That made all your looks,
As warm as moonlight?
As a pearl deep your eyes,
Tears have flown away,
All the same light.

Did her eyes at the turn of the century,
Tell me plainly.
When we meet, how we'll look,
As we smile time will leave me clearly.

Like leaves we touch, we see,
We will know the story.
As autumn calls we'll both remember,
All those many years ago.

Happy Birthday Jon Anderson born on October 25, 1944. Jon Anderson is my all time favorite vocalist! I've had the great honor to have seen Jon in concert a good many time as a member of Yes in the 70's as well as in the 2010's! Thank you for the many decades of truly great progressive rock, and all of the wonderful contributions you have made to music!

The song of my Life . The song of my moments . The song that watched me grow. The song that was with me crossing difficulty , the song that watched my love arrive and my love go. The song of my tears and laughs and my son's birth and my dad's decease. The song of I will be watching the mountains. The song that will watch my life pass. My moments. My sadness turn into happiness. The song that finally gave me the answer for who I was looking for all my life. My life's song.

Não consigo ouvir essa musica uma única vez sem me emocionar... Ela, e o Yes como um todo, representam tudo de belo que a minha geração sonhou...

  36. J.... M....

Excellent sound. Ha, a reviewer in Circus mag back then called this "a Genesis composition." Yeah, it does tell a story, ha.

  37. C.... C....

How come the UK and USA seem to have the best artists?

    C.... C....

Profound question. Surprised this is not discussed. Culture ... I guess .. name a Spanish rock group any good? ???

    C.... C....

Because they speak English and you only know English.

  38. A.... D....

One of the best albuns of YES, only "Fragile" and " Close to edge" are better. "The Yes album" and "Relayer" are good too but I wonder if they're better....

    A.... D....

You forgot to mention Tales from Topographic Oceans my man

  39. N.... M....

My favorite album from YES!! This particular song is so beyond hauntingly beautiful and so thick and dense with a sort of ancient memory. Hard to explain in words how amazing.

    N.... M....

I re visited my yes favourites...I went back to 77

    N.... M....

Understand . It is as we are reliving someone elses' past ... there again , told by someone else ..

  40. g.... f....

I've read the basis of this story line...so sad. Yet, didn't the 70's turn out some bloody good stuff, aye....and I'm an oldie!!!!

  41. P.... L....

Turn of the Century verses Stairway to Heaven...... Yes all the way!!

    P.... L....

As a rookie guitarrist i look up to the great Steve Howe(he's so versatile and control many scales)he's my idol, and chris Squire(Rip the goat of the bass)and the angelical and powerfull voice of Anderson!

    P.... L....

And Yes,this song is a flawless masterpiece bar none!

    P.... L....

Chris was not a goat ... you oaf

    P.... L....

R Gray Goat means "greatest of all time".

    P.... L....

@Aido 2203 *God Of All Things.

  42. S.... R....

When I first heard that song I thought it prepares a great climax - with E-guitars drums and so on- but nothing like this. And than I realised that this is it what makes this wonderful song special. Best Yes Song in my eyes. (I know there are climaxes but not as expected)

  43. v.... h....

can not compete with this wonderful piece of music!

  44. D.... P....

Does anyone have the 45 (Single) version of this.? I'd love to hear it.

    D.... P....

I found some information but not the song itself. :( It was published in Brazil with Wondrous Stories as B - side. There is also version with Steve Howe on guitar and Annie Haslam of Renaissance singing.

    D.... P....

Wow! Didn't know of this version, must track it down.

    D.... P....

Yes, (No pun intended:) it's edited. I'm trying to find all the single version's of Yes. It's tough. It's amazing how many cool versions there are of Yes tunes. It's purely for fun. To hear the AM or FM versions. "Roundabout" is very fun. Super short. So is "America". Others are cool too.
