Wright, Gary - Time Machine Lyrics

Baby baby, maybe we should get a way tonight
Baby baby, stayin' here so long, didn't feel right
I am so glad the space still owns the midnight flight

In the time machine
In the time machine

Long ago when we did decide to live our lives
We were young and blind
Did we know, searching through the years
What we found behind our lives

In the time machine
In the time machine

Can you take me where I want to go?
Can you show me what I want to know?

You and I cross the universe, behind the stars fly
We've changed our lives
Another show, another scene to play
Another truth to find between the lights of our lives

In the time machine
In the time machine
In the time machine

The previously released single, "Dream Weaver" (Gary Wright's biggest hit release, 1975) was also a slow, fanciful ballad, revealing Wright's formidable Broadway child singing experience. Similarly, Gary Wright's affection for Fender Rhodes electric piano is shown in the mixes of these self-produced solo recordings for Warner Bros. Records; for "Dream Weaver" session pianist Bobby Lyle works out on Rhodes while David Foster experiments on ARP String Ensemble, Jim Keltner mans the drums and Gary plays Moog bass; here on "Time Machine" Peter Reilich plays Rhodes while Foster now experiments arranging synthesizer strings/horns on a 4-Voice Oberheim analog synthesizer with Jay Graydon tweaking the synth, and Keltner/Wright are again on drums and Moog bass.

I own this album. Bought it in early 77’. But for some weird reason. It didn’t get a lot of airplay on FM radio here in L.A. as much as Dream Weaver did in late 75’.

Wow! Really? Light of smiles and I'm alright recieved a good amount of airplay in Cleveland back then. Dream Weaver and love is alive were the only two from the Dream Weaver album.

Tarn Arn, now “Love Is Alive” did get a lot of air play before summer of 76’, here in L.A.

@Handsome Package I'm sure it did. 😊 It's a great song. Love a song when the intro immediately grabs you and pull you in.

This album is one of the most unappreciated albums of all time, unless you're a Gary Wright fan.

Tarn Am ~ It wasn't greatly under appreciated. The LP entered the top 40, reaching the number 23 spot on the Billboard chart in '77. Not terrible. Being the followup to the hugely successful Dreamweaver, the album was fairly popular, sold reasonably well, and had favorable reviews from several critics.
