Wood Brothers, The - The Muse Lyrics
As I sit on the edge of this never made bed
Old guitar in my lap a new tune in my head
There she stands in the doorway just brushin' her hair
It's my beautiful muse in her underwear
And if I was thinkin' I'd be thinkin' thank God whoever you are
Times like these so sweet and so true
Thinkin's the last thing that you wanna do
As I sit on the end of this dirty old bar
Tryin' to work some things out and not gettin' too far
And I drown out the voices that are keepin' me down
There's a muse all alone on the other side of town
And if I was thinkin' I'd be thinkin' thank God whoever you are
For all the whiskey in this dirty old bar
Times like these so sad but so true
Thinkin's the last thing that you wanna do
Thinkin's the last thing that you wanna do
As I sit on the bed in this hospital room
Sheddin' a tear for the bride and groom
The tiniest voice starts to bellow and cry
It's my finest work yet if today I should die
And if I was thinkin' I'd be thinkin' thank God whoever you are
For the muse and the miracle right here in my arms
Times like these so sweet and so true
Thinkin's the last thing that you wanna do
Thinkin's the last thing that you wanna do
Thinkin's the last thing that you wanna do

Divine song.
great song
Thank you for this piece of art Wood Brothers! Very moving song which I can now relate to thanks to the birth of my son. Like others, Zac Brown Band exposed me to this song, and even though they do justice, clearly the original is so much more moving.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I got here from zac brown band. Both versions are so good
I felt this tonight.
Love life family friends
These guy's are Awesome !!!
*** My Brothers ***
Unbelievably moving. Beautiful Song.

This was my first dance with my wife this summer. I fall more in love with her every time I listen, and I listen to it almost daily. Thanks for being amazing.
Why am I just now hearing of these guys?
I just saw them on concert with the Tedeschi Trucks band. Wonderful. Why have I never heard of them??
Simply Beautiful!
60 yrs ago their music would be consider the in genre
Indie Folk Americana is pretty hip these days...
been listening for years, and the wood brothers have become very popular! I hope to buy an album one day.
Oh no, this voice kills me, sorry, have to runaway.
Beautiful song with great photography!
Beautiful.
Wow, first I've heard of this group. Very nice song.
Saw them last weekend in Portland, Maine. They were so good live. Everybody in the place had smile on their face.
can confirm was there :p so much love
got to see them in Oregon when this song came out, they sound just as good if not better le
Beautiful song, I see a lifetime of experience in every verse
My favorite Wood Brothers song. Love the lyrics, music (especially the bowed bass), video, and vocals. Great work from one of the most distinctive touring acts today.
I shed a few tears listening to this
Coming to the Cain's at the beginning of December.
Made my day when they announced it, can't wait to see these guys
They'll be back on the 5th at cains again. It will be my 9th time seeing them!
love love love thank you wood brothers for helping put my heart where it belongs
Brilliant lyrical work. I liked this song immediately and found myself humming along with the 1st listen. The instrumentation is introduced perfectly but the lyrics brought me back over and over. Seriously, thanks for this.
brilliant brilliant brilliant
This deserves so many more views, these guys are great and diverse more attention.
chills n' tears...a most powerful thing this is

Likewise. And the raw nature of it. It's great
C'mon people....Grammy
EDWARD WRIGHT timeless a grammy would not just do it. This song makes my ❤ sing my head ease
Really dumb question, but what is that instrument the guy in the middle is playing? The keyboard looking thing
+joe haessig It's called a Melodica
Perfect!
we had the pleasure of meeting you guys at Tønder Festival a week ago when we bought your cds and you did a signing. I must admit, I fell in love with you when I heard you play, and I went to all your gigs. You were the best ones this year. Now, your music keeps bringing me back to those 4 semi sunny days. thank you so much guys. keep singing!!! All my love Xxx
I never tire of this...ever...
Beautiful!
love this song
This song is absolutely one of the simplest, most honest, raw songs I've ever heard. Powerful and beautiful. Amazing.
I totally agree. I connect with this song in a way I never have with any other and I know what you mean. It's straight from the heart.
+Joshua Smith and Randy - many of their songs will do that to you. I think the writing is some of the best out there. I am glad I found these guys on Bluesville when I was going thru a hard time

thankyou
Gentleman you flow honey. So nice....Thank you for being here in my lifetime.
SONIC HIGHWAY episode 3 by Dave Grohl brought me here
This is my first time hearing the original version of this song. I'm glad ZBB was able to do this beautiful song justice
Thanks for the great music! Your influential in style. I wish i could express all the details and sound of the love of our music.I
Caught these guys live last week in Birmingham with members of my family. These guys are so, so good. When it comes to a decision as to where to spend your entertainment dollar... choose the Woods Brothers you wont be disappointed.
I will be seeing these guys on the last weekend of august during a little ditty called #shoefest . These guys are awesome!
Why is there music like "fancy" on the radio that is so awful and then geniuses like the wood brothers are unknown? Not right.
Exactly! I don't even listen to the radio anymore. I just put a cd in that has real music instead of the crap you hear on the radio.
I have no idea who you are and what exactly is your taste in music, but I am hoping you likely to give it a shot!
*watch?v=ywhvj7UaDHo*
Superb indeed!
Youtube the video and experience a fun time!!
Because bands like the Wood Brothers don't give in to corporate radio and MTV. Really kind of glad this isn't mainstream, then it'd lose its appeal.
+Andrew Smith I really hate comments like this. "Mainstream" as you call it, is only a reflection of what people want to hear. Even if this song had 10 billion views, it would not lose any artistic value. Music is not for people to hoard or keep from others, it is meant to be shared, loved and fostered through a sense of community. If more people liked this song it would only mean that we are living in a more intelligent and appreciative society. The sixties and seventies were full of artists and song writers like these who were loved by the masses. You're comment discourages more people from listening when you should be discouraging more people from turning on ghost-written lollipop bullshit.
Great song and lyrics, btw is Sean Costello in the picture at 0.08"?
You can truly tell these guys love each other. It comes through in each note in their music is so pure. Music is not like this all the time....
Please please come to Israel! I saw you in Vancouver last year after knowing about you for 3 years. It was the best concert I've ever been to. Y'all have lots of fans over here! Please consider next time you cross the Atlantic !
fucking unbelievable… pure talent
what does it mean, "shed a tear for the bride and the groom" ?
I'm just speculating but I think it's just tears of joy that two people have found their own "muses"
Beautiful song, beautiful video, beautiful people. Finest work yet, yes!
A very heart-warm thank you for this video/song. The last lines of the song are so cut-to-the-core true. If you do not have a "muse" or "lil' muses" (or is it musi) in your life... you'll get it... but come back and play it again when you do find your muse
One of the best songs written in a long time. Beautifully done, gents.
gosh, you guys. i was lucky enough to hear this song live in boulder/denver this past week. really powerful stuff. oliver's voice is hauntingly beautiful. cant get over this song. well done, gentlemen.
Sean, who appears in the first pictures with Oliver is the reason why I know of the Wood Brothers :), love to see him there! BTW big fan of yours here! Just sayin'
I'm so excited to hear Zac Brown Band cover this on their new EP!
This is an AWESOME! song guys LOVE IT!
Love, love love this. LOVE this!
This song is nearly perfect.
Your wrong it is perfect not nearly lol
Nearly perfect is not nearly enough
Not sure if this song or Loaded is my favorite song from the new album.
I listened again too..:)
This is disarmingly beautiful. It's hard to stop hitting replay.
They opened for Zac Brown @ Red Rocks 2010. Zac came out and played Luckiest Man with them, it was one of the highlights of my life!
What an awesome video. I already knew the music was awesome as always. See you guys in Colorado again in December.
Awesome. I knew they were under ZBB's label, but I didn't know they ever played together. Thanks for informing me!
They did, their album the Muse is on ZBB's own label. We just saw the Wood Brothers, Dugas(also on ZBB's own label) and Zac Brown Band Live in Bristow Va @ Jiffy Lube Live Ampitheater. They all were fantastic! ZBB and Wood Brothers did a song together, its a Wood Brothers song Shofly pie. Go to ZBB own web site to see them and his others artists on the ZBB label. and Ive seen shofly pie on youtube. The Bass player is little brother, boy can he play that thing!! Whole concert was great!!!
They need to collaborate with Zac Brown Band.
Great stuff guys, see you next swing through Stage 1!
Thanks for great tunes!
