Woe, Is Me - Mannequin Religion Lyrics

Six feet under the earth is where you'll reside
It's time to see the bastard you've become,
Because I know your father didn't raise you this way
The apple doesn't fall far from the tree,
And everybody says, you're just like me
I begin to lift up my own flaws, to better you

They say my head is my only prison, so I'll lock you up, I'll nail you down,
I keep you safe, I'll keep you sound, I'll burn this to the ground
So watch where you're standing, for this ground sinks so quick
When you are drowning, in water all so thick, I won't hear you screaming now

I am the monster you created, and like a mountain we look down on kings
You reside in me, my thoughts and my dreams, won't die

I had a feeling this lie would go insane,
I should stab this vengeance through your name

I will survive only to eat you alive

Woe, Is Me Mannequin Religion Comments
  1. F.... S....

    Nov 2019, anyone?

  2. T.... o....

Still 1 of the best songs they ever did for me.

  3. m.... ....

    Fuck this still bangs bro

  4. s.... ....

    wow i’ll always be emo

  5. G.... P....

The drums in the song almost bring out a primal like instinct in me to thrash my arms around as if I were keeping this former 7 piece band on rhythm and pulling off those drum fills with no effort 😂

  6. M.... R....

    Dem memories... so good album.
2019 and rockin' the shit out off it!

  7. R.... I....

    Better than Mannequin Challenge

  8. T.... ....

I still listen to this record, nd wonder why? cause around the time this album came out - stand up and scream was really popular, so everyother band was doing the exact same song structure as AA, but not woe is me with this record. now i agree i like issues much more cause woe is me jus has rhis record nd a single with tyler. but i still love this record

  9. V.... M....

Whose still listening to this ? :D

    V.... M....

    Vortex Mistic me today

    V.... M....

    till this day tho

  10. M.... O....

That outro tho, miss this band so fucking much!

  11. J.... G....

Can honestly say I prefer issues, heard these guys back in the day, solid as hell, never sucked me in tho, a friend had been a constant annoyance trying to get me into issues for idk how long, finally caved and have gotten pretty hooked, backtracked to hear what all Tyler's fans "missed" idk I'm my deaf I can hear why people love this sound, just not my cup of tea, too similar to other bands I did listen to around this era, issues sound is more unique and creative sounding to my ear

    J.... G....

In my opinion, it is Woe Is Me's incorporation of synths/digitalization (like the glitch effects on the vocals) in addition to the fact that none of their songs, at least on this album, followed a predictable structure (intro-verse-chorus-verse-bridge etc) as well as RnB-influenced vocals in a genre like this, which before were only really popular through Jonny Craig, that made them such a standout. It also helped that they gained popularity through controversy, with all the in-fighting and lineup changes, similar to Dance Gavin Dance.

Issues has wonderful instrumentation. The jazzy influences present on songs like The Realest and Home Soon are super smooth and well done. However, they are a bit too formulaic and predictable, so I wouldn't personally call them more creative than this.

  12. A.... ....

When im 80 yrs old ill still be banging to this album.

    A.... ....

    Allison yo same

  13. N.... D....

  22. T.... I....

Hmm so Hance and Tyler left Woe Is Me to basically remake Woe Is Me and call it Issues....seems to me the rest of the guys in the band must have been complete douche bags

i love this band because they aren't crazy repetitive and their lyrics are well thought to go with the guitars and drums ugh why fight! this band was gonna go far!

  31. b.... l....

I read that there was a version of this song with Tyler Carter and a version with Hance Alligood. Which is this?

  33. T.... ....

    T.... ....

Couldn't agree more dude. I loved woe more than dgd... First time I heard Tyler's vocals I was in awe. I miss this so much. Still glad I saw them with the OG line up <3

    T.... ....

things didn't get ugly and they didn't just break up lmfao woe is me started in like 2009 era after the first album Tyler didn't like they way the drummer Austin was controlling the band so he left the band so they recruited Hance in like 2011 so Tyler was in the band for like 2 to 3 years after Hance came in they did vengeance after that track Michel Bohn left because he didn't like the way the band had become and its not what he got into music for he left close to 2012 witch later they brought in the screamer from thats outrages they did an album a short while after that the band found out what it was like having Austin in the band he was just getting worse to be around so they kicked him out got a new drummer and recored a EP a few moths after the EP/warped tour 2013 they broke up because the singer Hance didn't want to tour anymore so instead of getting a new vocalist they all came to the agreement to just disband

    T.... ....

    ThatBritishGuy what happen to them?

    T.... ....

    S.... ....

i know how you feel. I come back listening to Numbers from time to time and i am just blown away each time. Its sad that they all went their own ways. The new Woe doesnt sound as good as it does which sucks. However Issues is doing amazing IMO. they are bringing a new sound and doing it very well.

Appreciate change as it comes. Shit happens, people change and drift apart. Woe, is Me is different now, they're still good. If you like this so much, then listen to this. Makes no difference to them, they've moved on.

  73. O.... ....

No matter how many times i hear the part at 1:57, it never gets old. Absolute masterpiece.

  74. J.... P....

    Love these guys

  75. N.... P....

He sounds like Matty Mullins in this song!

  76. l.... v....

    Love this song! <3

  77. V.... T....

    More like Woe, WAS Me....

  78. D.... ....

Hance is good (I personally prefer Tyler because I love the RnB aspect to the vocals but its just personal preference) the reason why people dislike WIM a lot is more because they went totally generic. This album was structured and heavy and good. Genesis is basically "breakdown chorus breakdown" its like they were trying to hard to be hardcore or djent or something. Issues is alright but its not as good as the old WIM

  79. a.... t....

You guys are all complaining about Tyler Carter leaving, and to be honest I don't really care that much. I'm a new fan of Woe, Is Me, and I honestly like Hance better than Tyler, like for example I like Hance's version of Fame Over Demise acoustic than Tyler's, 'cause I think Tyler's voice is too high, but that's just my opinion, Idk, I honestly don't think this band needs Tyler in order to still be good, I'm still going to listen to their music even without Tyler.

  80. K.... O....

Saw them play this live at the OM&M concert. Was not disappoint.

  81. Z.... E....

this is one of those songs that will never get old omfg

  82. D.... T....

Doesn't make you sound like a pansy at all man. I think your right about what you said. I think swearing all the time just ruins the song if anything and downgrades it. And sort of makes them sound less intelligant per se, cause they gotta use swearing just to fill in words they could use instead.

  83. j.... ....

I prefer this album...I want to prefer the newest album because honestly i like their sound but i try to avoid all the cursing. I know i sound like a pansy saying that but its true that you don't have to curse in every song in an album (like they did in their newest album) to make good music.

  84. J.... ....

Yeah, and it sounds like shit. Just saying.

  85. H.... A....

Nope, that's not Woe, Is Me. That's Woe, Is Garbage.
The Woe you're hearing here is the only good one.
Go listen to Issues for this Woe.

  86. S.... T....

They are touring with Pierce The Veil next year.

  87. S.... A....

Just ordered a ton of woe is me merch. I love new and old W,IM

  88. J.... L....

everyone is the same as a mass, plastic and fake.

  89. C.... H....

the transition at 1:02 is spectacular

  90. C.... ....
