Wishbone Ash - Time Was Lyrics

I've got to rearrange my life,
I've got to rearrange my world.
I miss you, I need you.

I've got to keep my memories aside,
I've got to try to live again.

Time was, when there were things around,
to be afraid of.
I’d die ‘cause I couldn’t change my mind
and turn the tables.

Time was, when there was no need to stop
and rearrange it.
Now I've got a memory.
And I don't want to change it.

And there's a time for waking up,
and feeling down.
That’s when you have to pick your feet
up from the ground.

Time was, when I had you around,
I was a strong man.
I need you, to help me make the change
and be a new man.

It takes more than a day and a night for giving.
It's not so easy, to just change your way of living.

Time was, when there were things around,
that bothered me.
The crime was, I couldn't start
to change my history.

Wishbone Ash Time Was Comments
  1. J.... T....

One of the most underrated bands ever. I mean, Imagine writing this? Absolutely Unreal. Thanks for inspiring me as a musician, Wishbone! 🤟

  2. F.... ....

Strange, I stuck this on then stuck the album on on Alexa (thankfully it's available on prime), and .. the Alexa is slightly flat compared to this version. I wonder which is correct. The above is good quality so you'd think ripped from a CD?

  3. L.... A....

Uno dei miei album preferiti in assoluto.

  4. T.... M....

    great album

  5. D.... J....

Rose colored glasses in the day. for real you all

  6. c.... ....

I never heard (or heard of) Wishbone Ash on Australian radio in the 1970s. Lucky for me that QANTAS had them on their playing list on international flights.

  7. J.... L....

Only saw them once live , that was enough for me, haàaa only joking should have seen them more lolx

  8. .... L....

Argus, the first city in the world to be civilizasion, in communities and streetccomunication.this is a guardian of the city, and time passes away, and we live now in 2020 αnd it stills here but just a knew one but ARGUS.very nice music and education, and very technicall licks and chords based on strong scales. One and only band with such nice stories of the past. Very good.

They need to digitally remaster this and Wishbone Ashes other albums and market them today.

  16. D.... B....

Good ole album rock from the 70's w/cardboard cover and all else that came with vinyl albums. The album cover inside had a special smell.

    Alguien en 2019??

  21. w.... ....

When this album came out it blew me (and a lot of people) away. And it was during the very best era of rock

    w.... ....

An era where bands tried very hard to be different from each other, experimental , risky dangerous, exciting . but never boring . where are the young ones now who want it.

  22. B.... L....

You know it’s good when it’s timeless

  23. s.... ....

One of the best albums of the 70's, which was a VERY good era for music.

  24. a.... d....

    I was born to listen
    Wishbone Ash.

Love it's on a high recording level, brilliant song

  29. P.... M....

    Wonderful classic rock

  30. C.... F....

This was the first album I ever bought, in Binn’s department store in Sunderland UK 1975ish I think, It was £2.70. I sold it twice and bought it back! The same scratched vinyl sits sandwiched among many other original albums in my loft amongst memories too deep to recall. At the time my Dad laughed at me wasting my pocket money on such ‘crap’ he’s not laughing now, he’s dead! The recollection of this album and particularly the lyrics of ‘Time Was’ helped me move on after his death. Strange old world...

  31. A.... L....

This was my favorite band in 1979, I could not find the album anywhere in Minnesota, so my boyfriend drove to Utah on vacation and brought it back for me!! My brother took me to see them at Famous Daves in Uptown!!!

  32. G.... H....

For the first 2 minutes and 50 seconds Less words are more
    Greatest Album

  33. D.... N....

This song was not conceived and written on Planet Earth . Ye s it has 1970s instruments and recording but coming from a mortal on Planet Earth -------=- No Way !

  34. t.... c....

I'm listening to this for the first time in over 40 years. A tribute to an old friend that I lost yesterday. We had a special memory we shared with Argus on the turntable. RIP Hoz.

  35. d.... ....

Been listening to this album since I bought it upon it's release in '72 and it still give me chills every time I throw it on the turntable.

    d.... ....

I suggest you don.t throw it it may damage it !!

  36. H.... S....

ah wishbone ash, best for twin guitar,

  37. R.... ....

The roman guard watches the land and sees the alien disk flying by ? This is the whole picture if you unfold the cover completely. Cheers guys , Ro

  38. .... ....

ДЕЕП ПУРПЛЕ тогда пососали как СВЕЖО играли эти парни у них на разогреве!!!!!!

  39. S.... Y....

THE FIRST THREE ALBUMS BY WISHBONE ASH WERE LIKE NOTHING ELSE THAT WE HEARD AT THE TIME. THEY MELDED PROG ROCK WITH HARD ROCK WITH A HINT OF FOLK ROCK. I THINK THEY GOT A BIT SHY ABOUT THE "FOLK" DESCRIPTIONS AND SO WENT ON A HARD ROCK GENERIC BOOGIE WHICH WE FANS HATED AND STOPPED BUYING THE RECORDS. I WAS THERE AT THEIR CONCERTS IN LEEDS TOWN HALL IN 1970 AND 1971.

  40. M.... ....

At least we have a good past to remember. Keep on rocking!!!

  41. K.... E....

I just remember listening to Radio Caroline when they used to play that incredible tune which came from nowhere. A milestone of my life. Makes me cry with joy. Best ever 70s band.

  42. d.... ....

Reminds me of a bit of Iron Maiden

    d.... ....

"I think if anyone wants to understand Maiden’s early thing, in particular the harmony guitars, all they have to do is listen to Wishbone Ash’s Argus album"
    - Steve Harris, Guitar World magazine, December 2010

    d.... ....

    Cool! Thanks

    d.... ....

    Doesnt come close

    d.... ....

@WishboneAshAllSongs Wishbone Ash don't really do harmony guitars, more like duelling guitars.

    d.... ....

Nothing like they have,nt the same class !!

    Great band - nice music

  92. R.... T....

Ted Turner! 1 of the most under rated guitarists ever!

    R.... T....

    too right

    R.... T....

Ran into a British guy here in my neighbourhoold in the Philippines. His name is Ted Turner and he was a musician. OMG! No, wrong Ted Turner but he was very well aware of the band.

    R.... T....

This is actually Andy Powells version I think

    R.... T....

I have a British neighbor here in the Philippines. Name is Ted Turner. From the same area as Wishbone Ash. He said he wasn't THAT Ted but he was very well aware of the band.

  93. B.... A....

One of the best albums ever made.....period!

    B.... A....

One of them that's for sure.

    B.... A....

    absolutely

    B.... A....

I agree wholeheartedly! One of the great albums of the 1970'S.

  94. S.... ....

Just incredible stuff and the band even has Darth Vader on the cover before he even existed! ;)

    S.... ....

lovely stuff loved your comment funny as fk 😊

    S.... ....

    because film maker stole it.
    this is the original.
but that doesn't matter. splendid music.
    changed my history.

    S.... ....

this Darth is looking at a ufo in the distance.

    S.... ....

I always thought the cover of Rocky Music’s ‘Avalon’ copied the cover of ‘Argus’, to some extent...similar helmeted warrior with his back to you, staring into the dawn...

    S.... ....

The cover is about Jesus under attack. "Point your ray gun to my head, baby." (The helmet is metal . . . full metal jacket?). The spear is the lance that pierced his side. The cloak is the bloody red that Richard Burton bargained for.

  95. h.... ....

Just heard this song today off an old vintage home made surf video of Maryland and Delaware in 1974 and this song played to it. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW! What an AWESOME SONG! Blown away, it went perfect to the video and yes I am a new Fan of WishBone Ash. Rock ON!

    h.... ....

Glad to hear it. I love it when people find music like this one from Wishbone Ash. Makes me know that people will eventual seek what's really fking good.

    h.... ....

it's criminal that this band is not in the rock n roll hall of fame, oh wait, they are british - silly me

  96. o.... g....

Great song with a somehow crisp, clean sound to it.
