Wishbone Ash - Lonely Island Lyrics
Lonely on an island shore
There's no one around.
The day is grown older now
As I catch the thought of you.
With you on my mind;
Sleep drifts over me
But still I can see you.
I knew that I wasn't dreaming anymore.
Softly, your hair in my hands
And your eyelashes opened the door.
How could we love each other
And yet be so remote?
I was stranded on the shore.

Written in the 60s according to Martin Turner. Incredible to think that this superb track had never been performed live by Wishbone Ash or Martin prior to his Spring 2019 tour. Stunning solo by Laurie Wisefield (and Danny Wilson on the current M.T. tour). Why has no one ever chosen this on 'Desert Island Discs'?
it´s so sensual...pure erotic!
Lonely island has a boc vibe
so good for ever
what a great song to peace out to

The best WA album EVER Laurie changed WA forever love this band
Brilliance. Who wrote and sang this?
Billy Auld he great Martin Turner
First heard this when I was seventeen in 1977 and still love to listen to it.
Simon-welcome to the club!
Saw Ash in December 1976 in Freiburg/Germany at the same age, when they played many of the New England songs. Lonely Island has always been one of my favourites.
For headphones only . So great .
How's about 4 channel phones.
And a thank you to our host.
Brian.
Yea good luck trying to find this on iTunes..... : - (
Silky smooth and with almost immediate Transcendence!
planant
Hypnotic rhythms and blending of singing and guitars makes this a gem on a lonely island of paradise.
Thanks for posting. One of my favorite WA songs. Truly an amazing band, so under rated. I do have to say I prefered the Ted Turner/ Andy Powell duo, but Laurie was no slacker.
