Winter, Johnny - Leland Mississippi Blues Lyrics
(Don't mess up slut and I won't either 1-2-3-4)
Oh yeah, oh yeah, uh huh, oh yeah
I've been in Texas,
I've been on the run
I've been in Texas,
I'm going to Leland,
Mississippi, mama
You all know that's where I come from
Right down on the Delta, man
Well, I'm alone, baby, I'm free free from my home
Well, I'm alone, I'm free from my home
You know I was sittin' right down people
On my daddy's cotton farm
Come hear, baby, let your long hair down
Ah, come here, woman, let your hair down
The best woman, the best waist in town
The best woman, the best waist in town
Oh yeah
You'll never keep me woman
'Cause I have a travellin' mind

I saw him in 71 at the Fillmore East with the Allman Bros. played all night for $3.50!
Saw Mr. Johnny Winter at the notorious Cellar Club in downtown Ft. Worth Texas in the mid to late 60's . Ain't been the same since! R.I.P.!
Edgar kicks ass on this album also

Stockholm, 1990 (?) with Dr. John. Amazing.
Always loved Johnny Winter! He was always in the conversations about the "Best" guitar players. I also loved his singing---as bluesy as it gets! He sounds a little like Junior Wells, to me. Really sorry to hear about his passing. Another Great One, gone.

Brings back good memories. I remember one Friday night in 1969 my good friend Alvaro would buy albums every pay day. you see i was only 14 years old. & I didn't work yet. So Alvaro brought this album home, we got wasted & listened to great music the whole night.
This album was right up there with Cream, Traffic & the white album ! Thanks for posting !
I loved this guy since 1969. I saw him in Santa Cruz Catalyst live in 1984 I think. It was a blast to stand about 50 feet from him playing, just awesome.
I've seen Johnny Winter more than any other live performer. At least a dozen times. More like 20. My son even told him when he met him!
muito foda Johnny winter Mississipi in Blues
But Johnny isn't good enough for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. What a joke. I won't set foot in there until this is rectified. God Bless Johnny! Rock on ...

The R&R hall of fame is a sick joke. Madonna? Makes me sick
I don't think he would give a crap. He was always true to his roots and that was the BLUES. Being the first white performer inducted into the Blues Foundation Hall of Fame in 1988 is a helluva bigger honor than the RR Hall of Fame.
i remember this album . This was the real deal . How i struggled to play like him lol !
R.I.P. Johnny Winters
Johnny's been my man since 1970. He was the real deal...
God Bless Johnny
"He might have been a Whiter Shade of Pale ... but he played like he was the Ace of Spades " ... quote from the Austin Herald after Johnny exploded onto the Texas Blues scene in the early 60's .... lol! ... how true !
heres to ya johnny one of the greatest ever saw him in massey hall Toronto 1970 rip meet you again at the bar ya man
This is the first Johnny Winter's song that I heard in 1969. I have been a fan ever since. What a loss! RIP - but rip it up when you get through the Pearly Gates.
The coolest comment of the day, thanks brother man.
I'm from Leland, Mississippi, too. His dad was mayor there, and so was my dad.
Paul Abraham you should play the blues on guitar also.
A must in any record collection!
Beaumont is a fine town with VERY fine people. Thanks for clearing that up for us brotherman.
Hell I always thought he and Edger were from Houston,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Theys from Beaumont.
And who said Texas Blues originated in Austin.
Just the damn best! Long live the White Rabbit!
Deadly review!
Deadly tune!

Thank you from my heart. I've always loved this song. Raw and beautiful. Brings back great memories.
@facedahmusik
He was using an Epiphone Wilshire on this one. His Fender Mustang was a 12 string.
@facedahmusik As I am not a musician I can't answer your question, but you're right. It is KILLA.
