Winger - The Lucky One Lyrics

No sun would rise
In my silent heaven
Without your love
Lord knows I've tried
But I keep looking into your empty eyes
Don't take for granted
I'll be lyin' here when the morning comes
If there's still a chance, Tell me now
But don't think I'll be waitin' around
While you treat my love
Like it's all a dime a dozen
You don't feel the pain
Baby you're the lucky one
Every day and night
I keep wondering
Should I just tear out these pages
Can't you see it girl
You're the lucky one
Who have you been lyin' to
Is it me baby Or is it you
How long would you trust
Before your Lady Luck Gives you up
Any truth to your promises
Washed away before the war began
If there's still a chance
Tell me now
[Repeat Chorus]
Maybe it's true nothing lasts forever
So they say
So sad Baby without your love
No sun would rise again
But girl these open arms are gettin' tired
And pretty soon I'm gonna walk away
No you don't feel the pain
Baby you're the lucky one
And don't think I'll be waitin' around
While you treat my love
Like it's all a dime a dozen
Can't you see it girl
You're the lucky one
You're the lucky one
And every day and night
I keep wonderin'
Should I just tear out these pages
Can't you see it girl
It's you yeah
You're the lucky one

This whole album is absolute top quality.. As are the newer releases, IV, Karma, Better Days Comin'.. I've always said if you want to become a better all-round musician to use Winger as inspiration.. Certainly helped me to develop in many ways not just instrumentally. Top quality musicians.. genuine ARTISTS! 🤘🏻👍🏻

I dig this song, but it's a bit reminiscent of Slaughter's "Fly to the Angels," whom I just listened to play unplugged with Winger, circa 1991, on YT. I've read this song is about Kip's breakup with Rachel Hunter, who left him for Rod Stewart while Winger was one tour. Fortunately, Kip already is fairly sanguine about it when writing this song; he was the "lucky one," as he went on to meet future wife, the beautiful Beatrice (who perished in a car accident in 1996), and then wife number two, Paula de Tullio, whom he met in the mid-oughts, both of whom had musical leanings and/or abilities, much better matches for Kip!

You know you are 100% right and I never heard it until reading this and I had this album since it came out in the UK and Slaughter's stick it to you since hearing them on MTV back in the early 90's. Both classic IMHO either way.
