Wilson, Steven - Insurgentes (Mexico) Lyrics

Holy Mother of the simple one
You can smile at me and bring me down
You betray your thoughts
All your prayers to naught

And out of breath you speak in tongues
And out of death, your work is done
And your dream absolves
And your path dissolves

When your cradle rocks, her love comes down
All the pretty lies you prance around
And your dream absolves
And your path dissolves

  1. C.... S....

stunning...somber...poignant...pathos-riddled...sometimes words cannot justify the innate meaning of something

To me, this version of the song is so much more powerful than the studio version. The piano's dynamics are amazing!

  3. L.... M....

    es un genio !!!!!!!

  4. m.... ....

The opening verse lyrics are slightly different from the album version, it has an extended intro, has a 3rd verse and substitutes a synth for koto.

and it has a huge echo cause it was recording inside a cathedral in the insurgentes avenue.

  5. Z.... Z....

    perfect song!

  6. i.... ....

A koto (Japanese string instrument) is used in the album version, but doesn't appear here.

  7. C.... ....

the instrumentation is a bit different. I don't know what instrument is used in the original, but it sounds like a stringed one on the interludes between verses, whereas this is pretty much piano all the way through. The lyrics might be slightly different, and I think either a verse is changed or there's an extra verse. I'm more confident about the instrumentation thing than the verse thing, though.

What's the difference between this and the regular album version?

  12. a.... ....

  17. K.... ....

When I hear the first notes of this I always feel something incredible... Only few songs in the world are as magical as this one.

    K.... ....

Karolcia1993 One of probably three songs that have the ability to make me tear up within the first few moments of playback. Truly a magical song

  20. o.... ....

Please tell me this is available for download somewhere; I couldn't find this version on Amazon.

  21. o.... ....

    Epic, too.

  22. E.... ....

I'll have to look up this version of the song, there's another verse to it that isn't in the final album version. This is a very cool, not to mention emotionally moving song. I DO prefer the "density" in the final version, though.

  23. m.... ....

    Gorgeous. Genius. <3

  24. P.... ....

It would be a dream come true to get to jam with steven, write some songs with him :D Steven revolutionized my musical view when i heard In Absentia for the first time after it was released, i'm still as blown away by it as then, same goes with stupid dream and lightbulb sun! If someone's interested they can check out my acoustic songs, highly inspired by steven.
