Willie Nelson - Mr. Record Man Lyrics
Mr. Record Man I'm looking for a song I heard today
There was someone blue singing not someone who went away
Just like me his heart was yearning for a love that used to be
It's a lonely song about a lonely man like me
There was something bout a love that didn't treat him right
Mr Record Man get this record for me won't you please
It's a lonely song about a lonely man like me
[piano]
I was driving down the highway with the radio turned on
And a man that I heard singing sound so blue and all alone
As I listen to his lonely song I wonder could it be
Could there somewhere be another lonely man like me
There was something bout a love...

Willie Nelson Mr. Record Man Comments
great song, first time I've heard it today , thanks for post. I'll try to find a vinyl version
This song kept me from losing my mind after my divorce.
Heard this many mornings while driving to work back when it first came out, loved it love it all these many years later, Willie is the greatest
I am a big Nelson Fan obviously if I'm here but His Style always confused me. He seems to just sing with every new chord then stop till the new chord comes so it almost sounds like he's talking
In the 1960s, my family & I raced horses & went rodeos all over East & Central Texas. This song by Willie AND the other songs on this LP plus many other Willie songs were ALWAYS blaring over the rodeo & horsetrack speakers. What a great writer & absolute splendid guitarist he is.
THANK YOU WILLIE FOR OVER 60 YEARS
A No. 31 in Music Vendor(later Record World) on the country chart January/February 1962. His first charted single.
NOW I understand why people love Willie:)-John in Austin:)
First heard this on his " Willie Nelson Live At Panther Hall Ballroom ". Wish I could find that album again.
I gotta get drunk is song 1 side 1
rondell gunn
I too, have & love that live L.P..
Surely it's on CD ?
Okay, so I love Willie. Grew up listening to him because my mom loved his music. So I have an album, yep an LP from RCA Victor of mom's of Willie playing Live at Panther Hall in 1966 in Fort Worth, Texas. This album contains Mr. Record Man, Hello Walls, One Day at a Time, Half a Man, etc raw Willie with his guitar and no doo-op, she-bop back ground noise and clinking piano. This album has never been released as a CD. This in my opinion is the best of Willie. I treasure this album that is about as old as I am.

I have that live album too. Great, ain't it.👍🤠
Willie's best song.
lord what a pretty one by Willie
This is absolutely one of Willie's greatest records. Every song is outstanding.
the anthem to my quiet spring break, where I couldn't figure out if a boy wanted to be seriously involved with me. I was in love with him, but I'm sure I was just one of many.
I got this record in my Dad's collection when he passed away. What a classic, the song & my Dad.
What a song... Reminds me of one of my first hunts with my dad, grandpa mike, uncle neil and uncle brian. We listened to this whole album basically on repeat all weekend. Shooting dove drinking beer and listeing to some good old outlaw old school country
How on earth could one person not like this song much less 5 must be Luke Bryan fans
Luke Brian is a joker brother
I was back In Texas on Dec. 22 before Xmas--A cold yet totally beautiful sunny day with no clouds. I was driving my rental car south on I-45 between Dallas and Houston and a local radio station suddenly blared this song, which beat complemented going up and down the hills at 65mph while seeing alternating grazing land and east Texas pines lining the route.
Yes sir. I have some strong nostalgia to this ol track as well.
THe is one of Willie's greatest albums even if he didnt like the production in nasheville. he rises above any flaws or corporate nonsense!Hope he lives forever.
A favorite LP of mine. All tracks great.

For the ones of who grew up listening to Willie, this music is just sweet to hear. No doubt an Icon in American Music history.
Sorry,but Toby Keith's nothin'but a Nashvegas Pussy Hat Act!!
Both Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson sereved in the USAF during the Korean War.
