Williams Jr., Hank - Medley: Harvest Moon / St. Louis Blues Lyrics
The night was mighty dark so you could hardly see
For the moon refused to shine
Couple sitting underneath the willow tree
For love they pined
Little May was kinda 'fraid
Looked up to the sky Told the sky his little tale of woe
So shine onShine on harvest moonUp in the sky
I ain't had no loving sinceJanuary, February, June or July
Snow time ain't no timeTo stay outdoors and spoon,
So shine onShine on harvest moon for me and my gal
Snow time ain't no timeTo stay outdoors and spoon,
So shine onShine on harvest moon for me and my gal
I hate to see that evening sun go down,
I hate to see that evening sun go down,
If I feel tomorrow, like I feel today,
If I feel tomorrow, like I feel today,
I'm gonna pack my trunk and make my getaway.
Oh, that St. Louis woman, with her diamond rings,
She pulls my man around by her apron strings.
And if it wasn't for powder and her store-bought hair,
Oh, that man of mine wouldn't go nowhere.
I got those St. Louis blues, just as blue as I can be,
Oh, my man's got a heart like a rock cast in the sea,
Or else he wouldn't have gone so far from me.
I love my man like a schoolboy loves his pie,
Like a Kentucky colonel loves his rocker and rye
I'll love my man until the day I die, Lord, Lord.
I got the St. Louis blues, just as blue as I can be, Lord, Lord!
That man's got a heart like a rock cast in the sea,
Or else he wouldn't have gone so far from me.
I got those St. Louis blues, I got the blues,
I got the blues, I got the blues,
My man's got a heart like a rock cast in the sea,
Or else he wouldn't have gone so far from me, Lord, Lord!

Williams Jr., Hank Medley: Harvest Moon / St. Louis Blues Comments
wow he has such a deep strong voice, !!!! Thank U
One of the things I like about Hank Jr. Is that, like Willie, he not only writes great songs, but also appreciates great songs, and is a great interpreter. I can't help but think that Old Leon Redbone may have played a part in this.
Yes Sir. Even he goes out of the way to imitate Leon in how he sings this one.
His Montana Cafe album was underrated. Loved the Montana Cafe song.
It's is one the best one he did. I can listen to it anytime, as compared to Born to Boogie, Whiskeybent, Wild Streak, and some others, not that ain't any good. The Title track is in my top ten songs of his.
Love the title track!
Thanks - one of his best albums!
Very underrated in my opinion, and I can always pop it in and listen to.
Been looking for this one on YouTube for ages. One of my favorites!
You're welcome. I looked for it too, but it wasn't there, so I said heck, I'll upload it myself. lol
Thanks for the upload
