Who, The - Pictures Of Lily Lyrics
I used to wake up in the morning
I used to feel so bad
I got so sick of having sleepless nights
I went and told my dad
He said "son now here's some little something"
And now my nights seem quite so lonely
In fact I, I don't feel bad at all
I don't feel bad at all
Pictures of Lily
Made my life so wonderful
Pictures of Lily
Helped me sleep at night
Pictures of Lily
Solved my childhood problem
Helped me feel alright
Pictures of Lily
Lily, Oh Lily
Lily, Oh Lily
Pictures of Lily
And then one day things weren't quite so fine
I fell in love with Lily
I asked my dad where Lily I could find
He said "son now don't be silly
She's been dead since 1929"
Oh how I cried that night
If only I'd been born in Lily's time
It would have been alright
Pictures of Lily
Made my life so wonderful
Pictures of Lily
Helped me sleep at night
Pictures of Lily
But me and Lily are together in my dreams
And I ask ya, "Hey mister have ya ever seen?"
Pictures of Lily!

Omg this is made for my Nan lily Sandom! My grandad was the drummer
My Aunty Lily was really pleased when The Who released this single. She thought it just referred to the portraits of a pretty lady called Lily; she had no idea that it was about solving, er, a certain "childhood problem".
coomer anthem
Keep it respectful.
Keith Moon would have loved that.
You can tell where The Jam got their sound.
Saw the WHO in July '67; met Roger; he was witty guy. Favorite WHO song. RIP. Keith and Lily Langtry.
Jeanette Jacobs on drums.
I got to see them (well, 50% of them) in concert a few nights ago. They are legend.
SAW THEM 1969,,,EDMONTON ALBERTA,,,$4.5O ADVANCE,,,$5.5O AT THE DOOR ,,,I WAS RIGHT UP FRONT,,THEY DID THEIR CLASSIC SMASH-UP,,,I WAS DEAF IN ONE EAR FOR A WEEK,,,,,MY GENERATION.
Love Entwistle's masturbatory horn.
Attaque
I've got the (French) horn. Fnar fnar
maybe the very first song about pornography.
The early Who were amazing.Absolutely none better.
For 1967, that was a very bold and daring song. What was Townshend and Daltrey trying to portray?
john be like: hold my french horn
Special sound!!Unforgettable.
Thanks Lily... Well done dear
1:12 That's one of a handful of tones that still sends chills down my spine.
This is by far the most powerful tune/song of the sixties. With maybe The Beatles "Revolution" coming in second. What do you think ?.
I would say "I Can See For Miles" is the greatest rock song ever.
This kinda sounds like Oasis
ians pokemon
scott what have we now become
dougs nuts now all done
2-3 gitarren ,ein schlagzeug und es enstand wunderbare musik, nicht wie heute, was ein scheiss!!!
Keith looks my Ex..he was just as wacky and he didn't drink just smoked a little weed..he was a drummer too..oh Keith
I bet those pictures stick together.
Written in honor of the original white fang, Dickie Weinerhead.
Rough and romantic at the same time. Super.
I'm 49 yr old I've never heard this song. Just found out about it on Trunk top 20. My youngest daughter is 8 yrs old. She has absolutely solved my childhood problems. Thank you The Who, Thank you Mr Trunk, Thank you my Lilly. Damn those Fucking onions 😅
Solved my childhood problems...
True originality.
Pictures of Billys Ha Ha Ha Ha
Cult !!!
Paul Weller would be proud.
I love this song. I've fallen in love who's passed away too.
I wonder what Lily looked like.
From 1.28 to 1:35 John Entwistle plays french horn.
Pictures of Billies :-)
Keith was just a little boy
The Who ; In the 1960's they ruled that decade; the "real" beatles !! ,..then in the 70's they took everything to that next level 1!
The Who did some great stuff in the 60s, but the Beatles owned the decade. The Stones, the Kinks, the Who, and some other truly spectacular bands of the era were slugging it out for second place, but nobody could touch the Beatles.
How refreshing.....real music
I had a book of Lilly, thanks Lilly !
die besten jahre ever,,60ziger,,was war damals los ,,wie kann man heute noch leben wenn man diese jahre erlebt hat!!!
Why so cuteeee😂😂
..."pictures of kiddies...". Pete Townsend is a peadophile.
my cats called Lily..
I like Pete Townsend guitar 🎸 playing much better than Eric Clapton my favourite guitarists in the 60's were Pete Townsend and George Harrison I liked Keith Richards too.
Pete Townsend is perhaps the greatest guitar 🎸 player in the world one of the greatest songwriters ever along with the great Roger Daltrey and Keith Moon's remarkable drumming and John Entwistle one of the greatest bass players in the world. In 1970 The Who were the third biggest group in the world only the Beatles and The Rolling Stones were bigger.
One of my favorites.
NONCE SONG
I did lilly when i was a kid
nice i like this tune
Keith "who needs a fookin' high hat?" Moon....
"Mind if we borrow this?" - Teenage Fanclub
Moon WILL NOT be ignored!
This is some relatable shit, thanks Who
I love the songs Pete Townsend wrote in the 60's each member had something special Roger Daltrey could sure sing a great singer. Keith Moon was one of the greatest drummers in the world I loved the beat. John Entwistle was the original basist and a great one. And Pete Townsend wrote so many great songs I liked the early hits the best (Pictures of Lily) (Substitute) (I can't Explain) (The Kids Are Alright). The album Who's Next (1971) is the greatest album the Who ever did and in my opinion one of the top 10 albums of all time.
John playing an incredibly rare Fender slab bass there.
The chord progression of this song is just real torture.
My Belgian Malinoise is named Lily
March '67 ... :-)
2:15 Pictures of Lily help me ""flip"" at night :)
4 you MUM in Heaven
It's long baffled me how they were SO fantastic in the 60s and, with a few great exceptions, so rubbish in the 70s.
I haven't seen this video before, and for you drummers out there, Keith invented Terry Bozzio's stage persona 10 years before Terry did! Amazing.....
Be real, you are here because the song is about jacking it.
What's the problem with wanking you all do it get real
James Potter’s theme song
The U.K. used to be so freaking cool.
By no means their best song.Nor album. The prime stuff is later.
In the 60's and 70's The Who were one of the greatest rock groups in the world 🗺 Pete Townsend was one of the greatest guitarists and song writer ever along with Roger Daltrey, John Entwistle, and Keith Moon one of the greatest groups ever.
*Of course Entwhistle **1:33** is supposed to be a physical/musical embodiment of the song -- which is all about the songwriter 'blowing his horn' over the pictures of Lily*
This is just awesome
A real gem from 1967...Keith Moon is really hamming it up, deliberately not miming along to the backing track.
The Ox on the French horn!
Early Who but can see the greatness already of Townsend, Entwhistle and Moon!
Mmm.....I wonder what this song is about? ;)
PURE ROCK POWER; THE WHO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Immense.
She's been dead since 1929/Oh how I cried that night. What a lyric. Vulnerable guy.
Cover: las fotos de lily (Attaque 77).
they F*CKING rock!!! I was obsessed with Pete when I was a teenager.
groovy suits. Keith is such a delight.
"... and then one day things weren't quite so fine!" WOW!
do you think lace cuff ruffles will ever make a comeback
Yes thanks .
Pictures of tittys.
This song is about wanking off
Keath moon brilliant
Keeth Moon was fucking ausum
This was before Roger was swinging that mic around.
A French horn in The Who??
the who the move birds creation wielded their auto destructive art to all masses !!! not music or rock n roll sculpture is more like it.
They did this when they played Southfield High School in 1967. South East Michigan was alive with music. Can you imagine The Who playing at your High School??
YES YES YES YES I DEDICATE THIS SONG TO ME IM GONNA SHOW MY DAM FAMILY I FEEL SO PROUD TO HAAVE MY NAME IN A SONG LMAO
