Who, The I Am The Sea Comments
best joke I've ever heard is people calling The Who a 'Mod' band LMFAO
um, no.
When the "Quadrophenia" album was released (and when I purchased it) back in 1979, it was misunderstood by most non-U.K. fans simply because Jimmy's story was essentially aimed at the U.K. market where it resonated among disaffected youths. Indeed, Pete Townshend often had to explain the story to North American audiences before taking the stage with The Who. How many rock bands had to do that with their music? None. Looking back 40 years later, I have to say that Quadrophenia has not worn well. I never played it very much back then and haven't listened to it for decades. Indeed, I suspect that most of us today would more easily relate to music by Brian Wilson's Beach Boys'--songs about the fun lifestyle around sunny beaches rather than listen to depressing, morose, pill-headed, frustrated boys like Jimmy sitting on a rock near a dismal, rainy shoreline contemplating suicide. The Who's more upbeat "Tommy" album was way better, in my opinion.
A masterpiece of an album.
I was reading a NYT article and they mentioned this album, I forgot how awesome it is, looking forward to listening to it. Used to listen a lot in the 80s when I was a kid.

BEST ALBUM THEY EVER MADE. BETTER THAN TOMMY
Best ever album !!!
Pure Class
An absolute masterpiece, it still resonates to this day and always will
:3 sobrevive
I got to write a paper in college about this album. Hands down, the most fun I ever had writing an essay 👍
My older brother introduced me to The Who when I was around the age of 11. When I heard Quadrophenia I felt a connection with Jimmy. I was a depressed child who was a bit lost and thought he was going mad. My mother is schizophrenic and I think I have some of her madness. I bought a fish-tail parker and even ended up homeless sleeping rough in Brighton for 5 months. 30 years later I still haven' t tired from listening to this incredible, emotional album. I saw The Who live at Wembley. One of my happiest days in my life.
Davy Jones brought me here
Is it me for a bruh moment? For a bruh moment? For a bruh moment?
Thanks for uploading great sound. tony UK.

Hey, all us old farts who grew up in the 60's and 70's realize how good the music was. And still is!
TDK...Born 1955 here...please, add the '50s and it will perfect !!!
I was born 2005 and im here
Yes I can. And happily so. I was there.
But the age of great rock started in the late 60's and early 70's IMHO.
"When Giants Walked the Earth".
I’m 15 now and I’ve been listening to this album since I was about 7, I don’t think I’ll ever stop listening to it
I'm sixteen and this album has totally changed my life. I had listened to it all my life but I hadn't truly understood the story. Once I did, it totally changed how I act. It's a shame we don't have any music of our time that rival this masterpiece
Such a great album Is it me or a moment
Quadrophenia WAS my junior year of college
should have put the whole of the double album in as 4 tracks then we would hear it how it was intended without the pauses between each track. You kindly put in more effort than what was needed.
Once upon a time, in the blessed mid-70's, people could choose between The Who, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Queen, Genesis, Pink Floyd and I'm overlooking some others.
Can you imagine that?
@benitojauregi It was the years of years . Glad i lived it .
Add Skynyrd, Purple, Sabbath, and Rush to that list. Hell there's too many list!
@benitojauregi King crimson, Yes, and ELP overlooked
Back then getting to number was a challenge.
what about billie elish. According to the Grammys - she's just as good.
Enorme, magnifique, sublime, les mots manquent pour qualifier 7 album
First Tommy, then Who's Next, then Quadrophenia. Does it get any better for Who fans?

This Album Transcends all Time and Sounds, I've spent many of nights lost in these sounds. With my headsets on, I was lost for a moment in time. One of the best Double Album's of my unwisely spent youth, thank you for Up-loading this Album!
Right up there with Mozart.
Stockhausen to be more precise

0:46 "help!"
Magic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thans for this upload!
Incredible album, Mods forever!
Thanks Grant. Thank you, The Who.
@1934rod Thanks for the correction I appreciate it. Maybe I'll wait until next year to see them. I've seen Roger Daltry and John Entwhistle but never Peter Townsend.
@1955Cal Roger is performing the album "Tommy" not quadrophenia, Pete will not be with them. BUT the good news is that next year 2012 the Who will be performing Quadrophenia , go to THE WHO official web site for details .You wont want to miss it ,this could very well be the last time ever ! don't be fooled again!
I'm suprised there aren't many comments on here. I'm thinking about seeing Roger Daltry perform this album in October 2011 in Hammond,IN. I heard he's doing this entire album, I'm not sure if Pete Townsend going to be onstage with him.
