White Stripes, The - Red Rain Lyrics

When this album came out, I remember seeing them on Conan O'Brien doing this song and it blew my balls off lol. I knew of The White Stripes, liked some tracks off Elephant like Seven Nation Army, of course, but it was that performance that hooked me. Then I bought Live Under Blackpool Lights, man, Jack and Meg knew how to bring the fire to live performances. Just incredible.

I listened to Peter Gabriel's "Red Rain" a few minutes ago, so when I saw this, I thought it might be a remake of the original. .... Not quite the same though.

Not a HUGE fan of this band, but this song is pretty fantastic. I love the guitar layers, each one with a different effect (there are 2 or 3). The song features cool transitions between soft and heavy that are seamless. That is, aside from one part, but that just creates the suspense since they were abstemious. The bells also add a cool effect. The only facet of this song that I don't like is the few moments in which they use a vocoder. I like vocoders when they are used only with relatively conspicuous effects; this was just too strange. However, regarding the vocals, the lyrics are actually a bit powerful; not so much so that they are life changing, but interesting nonetheless: "You think not telling is the same as not lying, don't you?
Then I guess not feeling is the same as not crying to you"

There is only one layer of Guitar on this, and no Vocoder, that's just a double tracked vocal that is panned to the left and right.
