there was always something intrinsically irritating about this band, i think it was a combination of tramps limited vocals, the samey guitar playing and the boring songs that tried to be so earnest yet came off to trite.

Vito's phrasing is so damn good. I could listen his playing all day. It just would have been really interesting to hear where his playing would have evolved to now, had he continued playing. So sad for music in general. Vito, I wish you well bro but also wish I could hear you play now.

I always think Big Game is way better album (musically, lyrically & production wise) than Open Up And Say...Ahh! yet sold less. Way less. Guess, if only Mike, Vito, Greg & James put on makeups & more hairsprays, they'd outrun Poison's success.

Problem is/was mike had to much faith in what he cared for vs what the fans cared for. Sneak in a song about saving the whales or the environment. Sure. But make it all about that,and you shot your self in the foot.
The record company even told him so. HE should've had a plan B as far as song writing goes. Little fighter is a great song,but I bet 9 out of 10 had no clue what it was about. I first heard it about the time Young guns 2 came out,I thought it was about billy the kid. Wasn't until way later I learned what it was really about.
Poison was cheesy for sure,but they gave the audience what they wanted,and that made em rich and famous.
I think being a rock star is pretty much selling an illusion.And if you won't sell them the illusion your fans will go somewhere else

@Michael Hicks yeah guess the time wasn't just right. Mike's current wife is from Indonesia (where I come from) and he goes back n forth Indonesia Denmark to continue his solo career & be one with his family. Saw them once at a dining place, living a humble life. He seems a very nice guy.

This song should have been a bigger hit in its day. The lyrics were too smart for the masses back then. They wanted another silly love song from this band and instead they got something political that they did not understand.

Vito Bratta a great guitarist, my childhood hero.

Besides the overdubbed backing vocals it's just Vito loud as the vocals and the the band. It's amazing this was top 40 in like 1989-90. It's actually super raw. They just decided to go all BonJovi on the vocals. There's even a pinched harmonic that jumps out of the mix at the end and pierces the ear. Pretty awesome. They used compression back then, but differently.
