My uncle use to sing this song and the women would look at him in a way that I knew something was going to happen that night. Because of my family's Christian beliefs as a child l knew we were never to live with the opposite sex without being married nor have a child out of "wedlock" as my parents referred to it. Now as a Father of 3 adult children l fully understand their opinion. Growing up this was a "touchy" subject. As l talk music with my children l always mention one of the beauties of late '60s '70s black Soul/R&B/Funk music was it was highly relevant to our lives regardless of what state you came from it was the commonality of being black in America at that particular time frame, great music like this by the Whispers, l just love this. And yes as a grown man after my parents died l did live with my childrens' mother without holy matrimony.

This song could apply to any group, but the LGBTQ community for some reason comes to my mind when evaluatating this song. Because this community is often time shunned by their families and friends for something that is beyond their control.
