Weezer - Everybody Needs Salvation Lyrics

Meet me in the dark
My heart shrivels when the light is shining
I can't get back home alone
I need someone here to guide me
Praise for the awakened one
He truly saved my life
But after all his truth is small
And I love the lie

Everybody needs salvation
And if it doesn't come we make some
Some people can get by on nothing
But I still need to know I'm something

Just like in a dream I scream
But no one hears a word I'm saying
Have I lost my mind this time
Or have I won the game we're playing
That's all I really care about (care about)
It's kind of wonderful
Kiss me while we both are still intangible

Everybody needs salvation
And if it doesn't come we make some
Some people can get by on nothing
But I still need to know I'm something
Yes I still need to know I'm something

I'm ready to love you
I'm ready to give my heart
I'm ready to trust you
'Cause I ain't afraid of the dark

I'm ready to love you
I'm ready to give my heart
I'm ready to trust you
'Cause I ain't afraid (I ain't afraid)
I ain't afraid of the dark

Everybody needs salvation
And if it doesn't come we make some
Some people can get by on nothing
But I still need to know I'm something

Girl in my art class was going on about how great this song was and how she forgot about it a long time. It’s alright, I suppose.

  2. n.... ....

This is one of the **best** Weezer songs that I have ever heard, and it's so underappreciated! Too bad not many people know about this song, because I think it's beautiful.

Justin Gabiosa Weezer fanclub only single

  23. F.... H....

    2:05 pinkerton vibes 😂

  24. a.... !....

i dont know if you guys know how hard it is to sing 2:04 - 2:26 ?1?!?!?! Try it yourself and try to have as smooth as a transition in the line "of the dark". I admire Rivers to even be able to RECORD something that smooth and physically breathtaking. I wish he would sing this live though<3

  25. M.... C....

    Rivers is low key christian.

  26. E.... B....

I've lost myself in all the Weezer B-Sides and unreleased tracks lately but man I just keep on coming back to this song. It's easily some of their top-tier material.

On their next album this should just be on it just because.

  27. C.... G....

    Put on black album plz

  28. J.... N....

definitely should've been on EWBAITE. One of their best songs.

  29. M.... J....

Rivers does whatever the record companies tells him to. The majority of good songs are cast aside in favor of whatever he thinks is gonna be a pop hit. Meanswhile if he simply produced and relased songs from the black hole-they'd sell more unts than the past 5 albums combined...

    M.... J....

You're basically contradicting yourself. All labels care about is money, so you think they would tell Weezer to release the songs from the Black Hole if it would "sell more unts (sic) than the past 5 albums combined".

Songs from the Black Hole are decent but most of them are nowhere near good enough for EWBAITE or White. Songs from the Black Hole would be about as successful as Pacific Daydream.

EWBAITE was about leaving their record label so they could start to make the music they wanted to. You have no idea what you are talking about.

  31. F.... M....

    Good fucking song !!

  32. S.... E....

If this song was actually about God, I feel like this could single handedly convert someone.

    S.... E....

    You mean *single*-handedly;) athank you.

    S.... E....

    Andy Roth singlehandedly-;)

  33. P.... R....

this was on Ecce Homo guys and the album art of Everybody Needs Salvation is the album art for the lost Ecce Homo

  34. a.... !....

    the beginning is my favorite

    a.... !....

um, not really anymore my fave part is the climax (naturally)

  35. w.... ....

This is what I want the Black Album to sound like if Rivers wants to go to a more poppier sound

    w.... ....

    this didn't age well

    w.... ....

    bad news:black album was shit

    w.... ....

    Hahahahhahah

  36. A.... T....

Chorus sounds kind of like "When We Were Young" by The Killers

    A.... T....

Funny in how The Killers basically sound like Weezer at times.

    A.... T....

    That's not the chorus.

  37. i.... V....

    this entire song is beautiful

  38. n.... l....

fukkk boiii y isnt this in their albums shitttttt

    n.... l....

y do weezer put in the mall, wheres my sex and shit in his albums but not this jewel, shit mah fukkk boi wtf

    n.... l....

Himura Kenshin this is a fanclub exclusive

    n.... l....

wheres my sex is kinda funny tho ngl

  39. S.... ....

So fucking underrated, everything builds up to that badass riff at the end and it's epic.

  40. J.... L....

hey this is pretty good! a bit radioish but, like Jose said, better than I love the usa.... CMON

  41. V.... ....

    So is Rivers a Christian?

    V.... ....

Gotcha, I always knew he was a spiritual type guy

    V.... ....

    "i'm spiritual not religious"

    V.... ....

Woluffy lol, more likes than the original post

    V.... ....

    He's into meditation.. Hinduism.. Buddhism..

    V.... ....

Yes he certainly is did you miss Christmas with Weezer?

  42. P.... H....

    This song is amazing.

  43. T.... l....

    very ewbaite

  44. J.... B....

The change in this song is perfection. weezer is known for their great changes. But went away from that in the make believe-Hurley era

    J.... B....

Jacob Bastian make Believe was great frick u

  45. N.... M....

The ending of this sounds so good.

  46. D.... N....

trust weezer to hide their better songs away from their albums...put this on the upcoming black album weezer!!

    D.... N....

Dingo I disagree on this song being unremarkable. Despite my bias for Weezer’s earlier sound, I think this song stands out for its theme. Rivers is writing from the perspective of someone who has garnered fear for the unknown and questions their future, their purpose. That line of questioning leads to the hard decision of believing in higher power or not. Here he sings from somewhere in between both perspectives, speaking of Spiritual Guidance and the wisdom that comes with faith, yet defies it and labels it false. Still, despite the doubt, he “loves the lie”, and keeps faith as a means to fool himself into a mindset that leads away from self-destruction. This is an example of FOMA, harmless untruths used to calm the soul and accept its position to and relationship with the everything else. Weezer touching this topic from that perspective along with the light piano behind Rivers voice and the build up they have on the last chorus shows how serious they take making their own salvation. Being decisive on your belief and not being patience for blessings is pretty cool.

But, idk. This song evokes a response in me to awkwardly defend it on the internet for some reason.

    I like this song.

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    D.... N....

they wasted the chance to make an epic black album :(

    D.... N....

@DrXavier Xavier here's hoping for van Weezer I guess?

    D.... N....

Yeah they dropped the ball so hard on The Black Album that my testicles shriveled up and hibernated in utter disappointment. Weezer likes to release one or two incredible albums and let their far less talented clones release an album of two while the real Weezer enjoys a nice, long vacation. I'm on to them!

  47. M.... ....

when did this come out and why is it not on an official album??

    M.... ....

Metzengerstein It's a fan club single.

    M.... ....

iM2American we know that, but the real question is what were they thinking of keeping this as a fan club exclusive?

  48. H.... R....

Thought this was only for the fan club? How did you get it on YouTube?

  49. r.... s....

2:25 seriously where is that riff from annoying me now

    r.... s....

ricky stephens I'm the biggest metallica fan there is and i can tell you it doesn't sound familiar to me at all

    r.... s....

Hey rick, also curious if the riff is from somewhere else, did you find something?

    r.... s....

ricky stephens sounds like one part of “Fugue in D minor” by Bach

  50. r.... s....

2:25 sound like a rip off riff please/song metallica or maiden?

    r.... s....

Maiden was a big influence to Rivers so I wouldn't say rip off.. But it was most likely influenced by those metal bands of his growing up years haha

    r.... s....

people need to realize there are only so many cord combinations

    r.... s....

Sounds a little little bit like passchendaele (or wharever it's written like) from iron maiden, i'm quite positive you mean this

    r.... s....

i think you are thinking of hail to the king by avenged sevenfold its not metal but its closish

  51. J.... R....

This is way better than "I Love The USA"

    J.... R....

Because they more publicly released "I Love the USA" while deciding to keep this one as a fan club only thing because it was something different. In my opinion this way outdoes "I Love the USA". They should've put this one out more.

    J.... R....

    Jose Rodriguez they're both great

    J.... R....

I love the usa was made for NASA

    J.... R....

I Love The USA is a fucking joke song

    J.... R....

    yeah no shit

  52. T.... ....

This is the best Weezer song since Pinkerton. Awesome!

    T.... ....

    Pinkerton isn't a song

    T.... ....

I meant since the album, obviously.

    T.... ....

Lol I love how 20 more people liked Tschennnnie's correction than his original comment.

  53. W.... ....

    where can i buy this?

    W.... ....

it was sent out as a fan club only 7" vinyl single with no b-side. so if you want a physical copy you'll have to buy it secondhand somewhere. otherwise, like i said, iTunes. that's it.

    W.... ....

    It pop ups occasionally: https://www.discogs.com/de/Weezer-Everybody-Needs-Salvation/release/6930418

    W.... ....

    It's not on iTunes

  54. c.... ....

My goodness if this would have been on Everything Will Be Alright in the End it would be even harder for me to say that album doesn't tie Pinkerton and Blue for me. The bridge lyrics are in the booklet after The British Are Coming so I like to imagine that is where it would have been on the album. Such a great comeback for Weezer!

    c.... ....

Monster Mash green is consistent with every track being great. This album was alright with some standout tracks. Man if this song and the others were as good as this is would be better than blue and Pinkerton

    c.... ....

I think Green and EWBAITE are amazing in their own ways. Both are pretty consistent and each track honestly doesn't make me want to stop listening or skip.

    c.... ....

Austin Bramer lol I’m like WAYY late but no new album for Weezer is ever going to top Blue and Pinkerton. Not saying that in a bad way because I LOVE Weezer, but I’m saying those 2 albums are just so perfect in their own ways. This song is one bad ass of a song tho and I’m sad that they didn’t put this out on an album. It would’ve done great in my opinion

    c.... ....

Austin Bramer Green is consistent, you’re right about that. But it’s bland for a Weezer album. Honestly it’s by far my least favorite. EWBAITE on the other hand has lots of unique tracks that are very clearly rock.

    c.... ....

Austin Bramer I know this is a year old, but Green is like the second worst Weezer album. It’s just 100% nothingness. No substance, no memorable anything. Just a flying sound. One ear out the other. It only has maybe two stand out tracks

Even Raditude, which as bad as it is, is actually memorable with some ambition and bite. Green just...isn’t anything.

  55. b.... ....

This song should totally be on the white album. Would be icing on the cake. One of the best weezer songs in my opinion.

    b.... ....

buruno2m doesn't really fit with the sunny vibe of white imo

    b.... ....

It fits better on ewbaite imo

The guitar sound is very futuroscope and the vocals remind me of ive had it up to here

    b.... ....

WoeBoeT not to mention that this song was on the tracklist for Ecco Homo, the album that eventually transformed into EWBAITE. It definitely fits and its a shame it didn't make the album.

  56. n.... ....

This is basically the perfect weezer song 👍🏻

    n.... ....

nomakeup First verse is soft: check, 1st chorus is heavy and hits hard:check, 2nd verse follows up the chorus being softer than it but also being harder than the 1st verse:check, Bridge leading to guitar leading into mixed up chorus: check.
    Holy crap you're right

    n.... ....

    Strongly Agreed

  57. M.... S....

The fact that songs like where's my sex?, the girl got hot, and Beverly Hills made it onto albums and this one didn't frustrates me a tad

    M.... S....

Don't be dissing on where's my sex, now

    M.... S....

well to be fair, this was made recently after EWBAITE, and released as a single

    M.... S....

    Where's My Sex is 10/10
Hurley is majorly underrated in my opinion

    M.... S....

Beverly hills is great. this should've been on ewbaite though

    M.... S....

oh come the fuck on, all 3 of those songs you named are bops, just like this one

  58. J.... Y....

This song should be on the new album

    J.... Y....

+Josh Young Hopefully on the deluxe edition

    J.... Y....

+Josh Young This is a fan club only song release. Won't make it onto an album.

    J.... Y....

Beitie Beitie Weekend Woman was basically a B side for the Green Album. There's literally nothing stopping them from putting it into an album.

  59. S.... J....

    this song is so beautiful.

  60. B.... B....

This band is very undervalued! It's a pity!

    B.... B....

Star Espeo SUCKING ON A LIME AND COCONUT....

    B.... B....

samhailes 😂😂😂 I could stay in this comment section for the rest of my life

    B.... B....

You all are a bunch of Troublemakers

rAwR;3 I may be a troublemaker, but I'm the Greatest Man That Ever Lived
