Almost all of these lyrics (and music) are straight from Furry Lewis's "Kassie Jones Pt 1 & 2" from the late 1920's. May have roots from even before that. Love Waylon and this version but wish credit would've been given where due, since Furry was alive when this was released, or to whoever wrote it.

I love this song, but it feels like it should have been longer. It sorta feels like a demo or an unfinished track.

The song was recorded in one take and incomplete. From wiki:
"While recording "Waymore's Blues", Clement tried to eject Jennings' wife and her sister from the control room. Confused by Clement's gestures, Jennings assumed that the producer was distracted by talking to the women instead of following the session.[12] The singer left the studio for two weeks and was persuaded to return after having dinner with Clement and his wife.[13] When Jennings and Clement returned to redo "Waymore's Blues," they found that they could not reproduce the feel of the original track. They decided to use the original on the album, and this explains the abrupt fade at the end of the song - to cover up Jennings storming out of the studio."
