Waylon Jennings - Don't Think Twice, It's All Right Lyrics

Well it ain't no use to sit and wonder why, babe
If you don't know by now
And it ain't no use to sit and wonder why, babe
It will never do anyhow
When your rooster's a crowing at the break of dawn
Look out your window and I'll be gone
You're the reason why I'm traveling on
But don't think twice, it's all right

An it ain't no use in turnin' on your light, baby
The light I never knowed
An it ain't no use in turnin' on your light, baby
I'm on the dark side of the road
But I wish there was somethin' I could do or say
To try and make you change your mind and stay
We never did too much talking anyway
But don't think twice, it's all right

Well it ain't no use in calling out my name, gal
Like you never done before
It ain't no use in calling out my name, gal
I can't hear you any more
I'm a-thinking and a-wondering, walking down the road
I once loved a woman, a child I'm told
I give her my heart but she wanted my soul
But don't think twice, it's all right

So long honey baby
Where I'm bound, I cannot tell
But goodbye's too good a word, gal
So I'll just kinda say "Fare thee well"
Now I'm not saying that you treated me unkind
You could have done a lot better but I don't mind
You just kinda wasted my precious time
But don't think twice, it's all right

Dylan and Waylon, two Mavericks who bucked the system and did so unapologetically. Why they're revered.

  11. J.... G....

Only a completely tone deaf person could give this a thumb down.

  16. K.... W....

    The King !!!!

  17. N.... W....

Who else is here for the stupid Applebees commercial before the song in 2019?

  18. A.... B....

Just here to remind everyone this song was written by the KING!!! BOB DYLAN

  23. M.... ....

When did Waylon recorded this? Must have been very early in his career?

  24. E.... P....

No matter where I am at in life. There is always this song. Like some kinda reoccurring theme.

From Dylan to Ramblin' Jack. To Cash and Ol' Waylon. The song is here. Anytime I need it. So Dont think twice, its alright.

    Best song ever sung

  26. J.... H....

Waylon Jennings still the king of the outlaws

    J.... H....

Why do you call him an outlaw? Because he stole this song from Dylan?

    J.... H....

@Frank Batista as if not every group takes from one another. Grow up.

    J.... H....

TheTipsyCanadian hey douche bag, it’s a legit question he’s asking and I’d like to know the answer also. If you didn’t know Jennings was called an outlaw by his friends and although it’s probably not because he copied a lot of people’s musics, there’s probably some reason other than for friendly banter. Mind ya bizniz.

I had this old sedan, a 1994 Buick Century--one of those boxy cars they don't make anymore. For some reason, there was a Waylon Jennings cassette in the tape deck. It must have been the previous owner's. I didn't know who Waylon Jennings was, but I thought I'd give it a listen. This song was Track 1. Let me tell you, I don't think I made it to Track 2 on that tape. When the song ended, I slap the rewind button and howl along with Waylon all over again. There's the pain of moving on in his voice that was all too real to me. My dad eventually sold the car to a mechanic--with the Waylon Jennings tape still inside. I was heartbroken I couldn't hear that version of the song again...until now. So many memories are flooding back!

I miss that tape alot. But you know, I'd like to think that tape made its way into the life of a thoughtful but lonely kid who needs to hear it at a crossroads just like it made its way into mine.

    Made me tear up.

    Q.... ....

Questionssm Dylan has nothing on this guy.

    Q.... ....

waylon is better ihave his eight track

  65. b.... ....

The county outlaws really looked up to Bob Dylan. It's because folk music and real classic country music are connected at the hip. They are one in the same. The lyrics actually make you FEEL something. Once you hear the lyrics you just sit there and nod and, in all your years, you felt you have lived the the song.

    b.... ....

    burnindownthehouse

    b.... ....

    i never burned any house

    b.... ....

    As they say,
"shoot from the hip, keep a stiff upper lip"

  67. S.... I....

this is a awesome version .....

  68. J.... J....

I like this version.  Interesting how singers who have sung this song have changed some or flipped the lyrics around.

    J.... J....

    It all works tho

  69. B.... P....

I'd guess people who think Country music sucks probably never heard real Country.

    B.... P....

    Darn right

    B.... P....

    B.... P....

Benjamin Phillips I say "K-Mart country sucks"

    B.... P....

i broke that tape in half and burnt it

  70. j.... ....

    j.... ....

justinschmieder Bob Dylan is a con artist

    j.... ....

    ....still wrote this song.

    j.... ....

    j.... ....

    j.... ....

Turd Bedurd whats the other version Waylon did?

  71. T.... ....

one of the best songs ever, I was singing it full voice since I was a little tike and I'm older than dirt. The song stands on it's own, we are lucky there are so many different artist that gives us their interpretation. Anybody that thumbs down any music in my opinion doesn't understand the power of music and should just go back to watching reruns of days of our lives! Peace

    T.... ....

    100% agree

    T.... ....

good one sparky.  i to have sang it for years n year along with whoevers version i am listenin to.  dylan hit a home run on this, like so many others, and i to think its great we get others interpertations.  like eric claptons.  he owns it on the  dylan 30 yrs anniversary concert.  if you have not seen it check it out....

    T.... ....

  76. R.... R....

    My favourite..

  77. t.... ....

Walon sings this version quite nice, but I like Johnny Cash's arrangement better.

  78. X.... R....

why the fuck would anybody give this song a thumbs down?

    X.... R....

    *Nobel prize

    X.... R....

I know it seems strange to think that a song writer would get a Nobel Prize. The Nobel committee expanded the definition of literature. It saddens me that this expansion tells me there is not a lot of good, inspirational writing coming from good, inspired writers. Of course, I like the song; like life, it's complex. Likewise Waylon's voice is a mixture of 'pure country' sound and a wild-west openness.

    X.... R....

    Because they have small penises.

    X.... R....

Hathaway Alfred don't think it's the small penis thing not working with to much over here. but yeah fuck them

    X.... R....

I like the song, too, but was saying I think Wayland did it better than Dylan.

  79. 1.... ....

    Still the best version

  80. D.... M....

ya me to it has more rhythm

  81. 1.... ....

Ain't no use in calling out the outlaw! Don't think twice its alright!

  82. d.... ....

Mike Ness covered, not with Social D though. He puts a twang in it :)

  92. R.... ....

Hot Damn boys and girls this song is the shiznit!

  93. B.... D....

I know what you mean bub but sorry, that sounds like to much of a sausage fest for me.... the sad part is it's pricks that think like that that probably need them the most. Perhaps we could have our chapter meetings at titty bars to even things out a bit and make them not seem like such sausage fests?

  94. R.... ....

My new favorite Waylon song. Never will be another like him.

  95. S.... ....

Still one of my favs Waylon forever

  96. A.... J....

Songs like this are great! I can start a non- profit organization, created by men for men to help men who've been damaged by women. This organization can offer group therapy, legal help, and bring forth social justice, and show the world what a "gentleman" really is. It can set an example for all men! Slogan; " For Men hurt by Women". It's time for change! Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

  97. T.... B....

Glad to make your day :)

  98. M.... ....

My favorite version of the song. I heard it first from Elvis. Bob Dylan's version is different. Waylon sang this song with a lot of heart and like if it was his own.
