Watson, Gene - Sometimes I Get Lucky And Forget Lyrics

I stay out late most every night until closing time
Tryin' to find a way to drink your memory off my mind
And even if it goes just right, I'd never make a bet
But sometimes I get lucky and forget

Sometimes I can close my eyes and you're not waiting there
Constantly reminding me how much you used to care
And losing you is one thing I guess I'll always regret
But sometimes I get lucky and forget

Sweet Rose' and burgundy just lead to scotch and rye
At times it hurts me so much I just hang my head and cry
No, it ain't been easy for me, I'm not over you yet
But sometimes I get lucky and forget

Sometimes I can close my eyes and you're not waiting there
Constantly reminding me how much you used to care
And losing you is one thing I guess I'll always regret
But sometimes I get lucky and forget

Sometimes I get lucky and forget

oh my god guys, one hit, this man is a legend in country music, and please, for matt beeman, you may think in your mind you are saying something good about gene, don't bring up names of jackasses like you just did, almost as bad as mentioning the little pussys that sing crap like miley. but what gives any of you the idea that he only had one hit, mention his name around country fans, even the new ones, i need to stop reading the comments on these videos, too full of ignorance

One of my fav. Gene Watson songs!  I use to sing this song in my band!  Good dance song.  And is not 3/4 time as stated!  It is 4/4 time.  I saw Gene twice!  Galesburg, IL. and Taylorville, IL. at Nashville North Opry.  Both were great shows and I got to talk with Gene to!

  30. W.... B....

Gene Watson tell some guy to follow you down the road and learn to sing
you.  That is really a laugh because only one man came along with your voice

i`ll be Seventy in March again ; the good ole country ; is a result of havbing done something REAL all the people that grew up while America was Maturing ; were and are REALLY luck to have been there ; just the music was enough to promote us into productivities .

  38. J.... W....

Thanks for this...it's my favorite from Gene...we used this regularly in the band I was with around the Houston area in the 90's and it always produced a full dance floor. I'm in my 70's and it's sad to see the changes in country music...music like this and the wonderful sounds from Ray Price, Hank Thompson, Moe Bandy, Darrell McCall, etc. will never be again but we have these recordings and our memories. Thanks again for posting this.

Yep, this one's awesome - sincere thanks, livingadream2. You've posted almost all the songs I was hoping for, there's still one I really like - you don't have " This Dream's On Me ", do you? I doubt I'll be that lucky.
