I'm just now getting to know Mike Scott's music -- I suspect it didn't get much airplay here in the States in the 80s and 90s. Glad I found The Waterboys and Mike through the CBC's "Republic of Doyle," which used "Fisherman's Blues" in one episode. Now I listen frequently, and bought the "Best of" album, which just goes through 1991.

I seriously doubt The Waterboys formed in 1963, when Mike Scott was 4. 1983, maybe. Their first concert videos were made in 1984. Scott was performing in public about the time he turned 20.

panos lazaris , i guess they are not for the American taste, but yeas, I came to know about them with fisherman's blues, i loved their music ever since, they are unique, Mike writes excellent tunes and lyrics.
