Warwick, Dionne - Who Gets The Guy Lyrics
Who gets the guy at the end of the show?
I'd like to know
People say you have found another
Is it true, what they say?
Tell me, who gets the guy
In that last sweet caress?
Don't make me guess
Lovin' you has become my whole life
I can't live without you
When it's time to walk out
Are you gonna walk out?
And that's why I just keep listenin'
Because if it's happy that's how I feel
And if it's sad, well, that's too bad for me
Woah, can't you see just how much I need you?
It just has to be me
Tell me that the ending is a happy ending for me
And that I get the guy
Woah, can't you see just how much I need you?
It just has to be me
Please tell me that the ending is a happy ending
Can't you see just how much I need you?
It just has to be me

Warwick, Dionne Who Gets The Guy Comments
She sounds like the sweetest human oboe. Other worldly! Seemingly effortless mastery.
OMG. Her voice.
Sweet and silky upper register....Dionne in phenomenal voice here.
SOU MUITO FÃ DELA
I love Dionne Warwick and this was a beautiful song just for her. She's a true great singer. 😊
Quelle tristesse de se dire qu'on assiste à la fin d'une collaboration magique. Même si le charme opère encore, on sent bien que le moment est venu d'arrêter et de remercier le ciel que cela ait pu durer aussi longtemps.
OH MY GOD I LOVE CLASSIC DIONNE SING TO ME MY SONGBIRD!
She was arguably one of the best vocal interpreters of this era. She should have laid off the cigs.
Now she sounds like a sick bull frog being run over.
Classy Lady.
The very essence of the Dionne/Bacharach/David magic. SUBLIME.
Love, love, love Dionne. One of a kind!!
I had forgotten how supple her voice is. No breathiness, just musicality flowing when she opens her mouth. The woman was a wonder. Lovely and effortless tone.
Dionne Warwick one of the vocal treasures of our generation! Many thanks for sharing!
A very deceptive melody (what else would you expect from Burt Bacharach), seemingly simple, but YOU try singing it on key. Pure genius, Ms. Warwck knocks it out of the park, no autotune here, just Ms. Warwick making it look oh so easy.
grooverunner ....you're right people don't get it.... the most simplest is the hardest to sing... think about I Will Always Love You.... the song is simply written but no matter how great the person is it always sounds off when they attempt to conquer it.
It sounds too much like a reworking of "Odds and Ends", with no just as good lyrics.
tricky dick - And I love that one just as much good call man!
being worn
but she has 3 songs in it a believe walk on by dont make me over and alfie
Wowee, one of my fave Dionne tunes! Great visuals to boot! Thanks so much for uploading.
Spot on comment. A haunting vocal performance, and she makes it look so completely effortless. When she sings a meaningful melody and lyric in that featherlight mixed voice, my ears are in paradise. So lovely and teasing.
This clip takes me back to another time when there was so much promise and potential. Of course I was just a teenager then. What a handsome lady she was then and what a regal woman she is now. So much grace, elegance, physical and vocal beauty in one person. A real treasure.
It's sad on the Rock and Roll so call Hall of Fame to exclude a talent of this magnitude. How do they justify or even validate their existence in this world. Their worth and credentials is questionable.
who get.s the guy was dionne's moms favorite, song a lovely song i love it!!
wonderful! I remember this period of time...i was 15. she's pure class! and so was Bachurach and david. Thanks God for the You-tube time machine!!
Just flawless
@mkbell2003 You do realize that this video is 40 years old, right? So of course the dress is dated..DUH
Bland song. That dress is dated.
Bland for some dated for others no accounting for vindictive snipes
I just stumbled upon this on a fall afternoon while enjoying a cold beer. I thought it would be the version I heard as a boy, but to my surprise, it was Dionne on film. What a treat. I was a freshman in high school when this was released and this is was one of my favorites from the early seventies. My taste in music was very different from the average teenage boy from those days.
Should have been a big hit!
Effortless mastery of the craft of vocal performance. Nothing is so sublime as hearing Dionne float breathlessly between head & chest voice on this taping. This is not the record version she is singing live in a studio and doing so as well as anyone ever did "live". Not a big hit for Dionne but "Who Gets the Guy?" a quintessential Bacharach/David composition.. If anyone doesn't get Bacharach/David/Warwick I would play this tune, "Say a Little Prayer and maybe "The Beginning of Lonliness".
Class, class, class - Dionne and Bacharach/David! I thought this was Dionne miming to the record, but I think it was recorded specially for this telecast.
