Warren Zevon - Nobody's In Love This Year Lyrics

We keep walking away for no reason at all
And no one says a word
We were always so busy protecting ourselves
We never would have heard
And the rate of attrition for lovers like us
Is steadily on the rise
Nobody's in love this year
Not even you and I

Due to lack of commitment on both of our parts
We're going our separate ways
This show of indifference is breaking our hearts
It's making us crazy, yeah
You sit back and wait for your love to accrue
You'll be waiting a long, long time
Nobody's in love this year
Not even you and I

I don't want to be Mr. Vulnerable
I don't want to get hurt
I don't want to be Mr. Vulnerable
I don't want to be the one who gets left behind

We keep walking away for no reason at all
For the sake of being free
No one's invested enough of themselves
To yield to maturity
And the rate of attrition for lovers like us
Is steadily on the rise
Nobody's in love this year
Nobody wants to try
Nobody's in love this year
Not even you and I

I don't want to be Mr. Vulnerable
I don't want to get hurt
I don't want to be Mr. Vulnerable
I don't want to be the one who gets left behind

  9. R.... S....

They tore up the blueprint after they made Warren Zevon. There'll never be another like him.

  10. G.... B....

The Bachrach / David is strong with this one.

Bravo! "Criminally Overlooked" is probably the best way I've ever heard Warren Zevon described. This guy produced a large body of brilliant and very intelligently written and composed work, but you only ever hear the same two songs ever played on the radio. Perhaps it will take another 50 or 60 years before Warren Zevon's tallest is fully appreciated.

  16. M.... B....

Thank you for this~! I love Warren and didn't remember this at all.................................

One of Warren's overlooked songs, albums ... "I don't want to be Mr. Vulnerable ..."

  18. T.... H....

This song is from a very brilliant and criminally overlooked album, Transverse City. It was twenty years too early, depicting human experience in a world controlled by technology, huge corporate indifference, and surveillance. I can't recommend it enough.

    T.... H....

@Thomas Hofheinz My thoughts exactly, though it should be noted that Garcia's guitar solo on the title track can't be underrated enough (and I say this as a Dead Head).

    T.... H....

Garcia was a really interesting guitarist, a kind of genius, but he fuzzed out in the signal/noise spectrum sometimes.

    T.... H....

    Thomas Hofheinz
Just listened to it all the way through for the first time. Must be in his top 5 easilly.

    T.... H....

I'm looking for a copy right now.

    T.... H....

    one of his best albums

This song and "The Heartache" have been sounds of comfort right now after a recent break up. He really knew how to be honest in a song and I can relate to both so much right now in every lyric. He went too soon.

  20. B.... G....

It's just wrong that he's dead. Stupid thing to say, yes, but I've felt this way since he died.

    T.... H....

Hes not dead he is driving Jesus crazy....might have got him playing drums

  23. A.... W....

Uhhh.... Just had a breakup two hours ago.  First song that came to mind...

  24. T.... H....

This guy was reading my mail.

  25. N.... L....

Yep, it's the way Warren was saying so much.. still does too! Fantastic tune!

  26. A.... G....

So blatantly honest and actually very vulnerable -- he seemed soft and fragile inside. May his soul be blessed, he touched the souls of so many, just by being himself.

  27. J.... l....

    @cosmicrider287 mr. bad ass
