It's in my will. This song and Jungle Work will be played at my funeral. Warren was the best. He had a lot of soldiers that listened to and loved his music.

Warren Zevon is not in the HOF for one reason only....Jann Wenner! The little bitch has a gripe about him bailing out in the middle of one of his shows Wenner had some of his mucky muck friends at. Grow up and get over it you pompus ass!!

A lot of people are wondering how close this song was to his death and I have to say, without being specific that at some point in his life, certainly not his 20's or early 30's, but a little later, some of his songs took on a premonition quality, as to things to come. You can do a time line as to when each song was written. When asked, he has tried to explain it.

Much of his songs were about death even early in his career. He had a morbidity to his living as well as his later in life impending death.

this song just lifts my spirits I'm convinced Warren made his peace with Jesus this is his farewell to us and he faced the grim reaper with his courage and in peace , they'll never be another human being like him I say human because that's what he shared with us his beautiful and flawed humanity.

He always came up with good tunes but then they were combined with that voice and attitude .... a fantastic mix.

I bought my first Zevon album Excitable Boy in like 1979 with golf caddy money. I have bought every Zevon album then and before since. Cherish your Zevon. There will never be another! Now I got to go, my ride's here!

Interestingly, these lyrics were principally written by Irish poet Paul Muldoon and set to music by Zevon. Zevon collaborated with a few celebrated authors on the My Ride's Here LP, including Hunter S. Thompson. IMO, this is the most successful of the bunch. @Kevin Perry I dont know if it brands me as some kinda weirdo--that a man who has been gone for 13 years is such a powerful source of inspiration and strength for me. I've been told so. Don't give a fat rat's ass, to be honest. I was blessed to have met him in '95...He was funny, kind and generous with his time--we talked for nearly an hour in a Borders bookstore. Then I followed his valiant battle and grieved when he passed. Now, I'm fighting the same kind of war, and if anything my respect for Warren Zevon has grown exponentially since I got my diagnosis. 3 months. Is that their standard projection when what they're really saying is you have no hope? Fuck em! That was over 14 months ago...And countless long, cold scarey nights when WZ's music is my comfort and encouragement. My fiance, Brody, tells me I can beat this...He is my other Source. Without him and WZ, I'd be tore up from the floor up, instead of determined and defiant. Thank you, Kevin. Today was one of those days for me, when the pervasive ugliness in this sad old world is SO insistent, I can't tune it out...when I stare my own impending mortality smack in its boney face...and i am afraid. I listen to Warren's songs, immerse myself in the always-surprising complexity of his music, and apply the balm of his poetry to my injured soul...and I find peace. Warren, my friend...I can never thank you enough. Perhaps someday I will tell you, face to face. Perhaps someday....

+Gonzo Babba For that photo , Warren is sitting in the back of a lincoln Towncar Limousine ; those rear windows only roll down as far as in the picture. I know , I've drove limousines for almost 10 years now.

Just watched the entire series of Californication from Showtime on Netflix in a span of about 3 weeks. So many Zevon references it sent me back to my exploration of my one of my biggest influences. Miss him a lot.

My Ride's Here was in response to being diagnosed.

My older brother used to talk about Warren Zevon a lot. They have both passed but I am mature enough now to understand the genius behind the music. May you both rest in peace. 

My younger brother died last year. 'Keep me in your heart' was read at his funeral. Pete had never heard of this guy Warren Zevon, but the man's words resonated like a hymn. Your older brother, my younger brother, they're doin' just fine right now.
