Walsh, Joe - Welcome To The Club Lyrics
Standin' in the runway
Wavin' at the plane
There goes everything you own
You called home collect
And they didn't know your name
You thought he was a doctor
Now he says he's not
But the noices seem to tell for sure
And according to the symptoms
It isn't all you got
A shame they haven't found a cure
Didn't know the reason
You start to feel the rub
Well, welcome to the club
Well, you thought they'd take it lightly
They're actin' kinda rash
Caught you in a loadin' zone
So they smile very politely
Relieved you of your cash
Suddenly you're all alone
You play the double agent
You bug eachother's phone
You got the place surrounded
There ain't nobody home
It's gettin' hard to please 'em
You start to feel the rub
You know it isn't easy
Well, welcome to the club
Come on and join us in the club

Walsh, Joe Welcome To The Club Comments
the triplet measures at 4:21 are golden!
Is it me or are the acoustics of this LP sub-par?
The same band is backing ex SPIRIT singer JAY FERGUSON album ALL ALONE IN THE END ZONE ......both are awesome
Great song, first heard it back in July, 1980. I instantly loved it, listened to it on & off, ever since. Heard it on a Joe Walsh LP compilation called "Joe Walsh: So Far So Good". Bought most of his albums on CD since then, though.
Reminds me of an ex-girlfriend who shall remain nameless
stilll in the club in 2019
there goes everything i owned
Wish I could go back in time and stop my past self from selling this album
And most people think Joe Walsh = Eagles. What they don't know! That was just a side project for an EPIC American rocker. He's 71 this year. Sail on Joe!
Joe Walsh is legend.
So underrated.
was such a great album to be high to for some reason.

He tells ya he's a doctor....now he says he's not......Well, Welcome to the Club!
I saw him at the Shrine Auditorium in LA soon after this was released and that was an enchanted night and a few weeks later I caught Joe down at the San Diego Sports Arena and was near the front and center. Magical times.
He was great at the cow palace
I want to be in the club J W club
Super guitar master i like his music
I've been a member of the club since 1972. Why o why isn't this man in the hall of Fame
Ditto Cathy....Since '73!!!!
JOE WALSH RECORDED YOU CANT ARGUE WITH A SICK MIND IN 1975. LIVE! EVERYTHING JAMES GANG AND SOLO UNTIL HE JOINED THAT EQUIVALENT OF BLAND UNSALTED BREAD the eagles. I THOUGHT HE WOULD PUMP SOME LIFE SOME KICK! AS IT WERE. FUCK. THEY RUINED HIM!!!!!!!!!
In my mind, Joe joining the Eagles was like like playing in the minors when you're an all star. He certainly didn't need them to boost his career.
Travis, you're right. They needed him. He didn't need anyone.
After "The Smoker...." this was one follow LP that we fans could not wait to get our hands on at the local record store upon its release.
It definitely did not disappoint.
Great JW and one of my favorite solo efforts by him.
what a great album, loved the music from the 70's!! rock on peeps
He looks like me listening to a longwinded sumbitch.Wrap it up!
Great song both joes great drummer joe vitale backing mr walsh wat a song gives u goose bumps 👌👍
This is a percussion that takes everything to an almost holy level, ask me. Energetic, measured, effortless -- poetry. Technicalities can't touch it.
Anyone at the cow palace in 75 joe comes marching out with combat boots with red laces.froggy

BEEN THERE! DONE THAT! PLEASE GOD DONT LET IT HAPPEN AGAIN...GREAT
SONG
Syncopated genius.... all time album.
yesssss - that's the perfect word to describe the J Walsh "style"
I was born the year this came out. My dad nearly wore the album out during my childhood. I'm greatful my dad loved good music. I wish Soundgarden had covered this.
Great track. Walsh by himself......early stuff. Yeah.
I've been a member of the "Club" for about 45 yrs!
Very Odd. I'm 62 & Love the walshTune but idont recall hearing this on Fm Radio.
Best Joe and he has 6 or 7 great albums....so syncopated and smooth. Ahead of its time, sounds fresh today. Love it.
YESS HE IS:).
Greaaaaaat song,awesome guitar.
Was this recorded at The Caribou Ranch in Nederland, Colo ??
MINE HAS A HOLE IN IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
joe walsh genius
Wish I could find Eagles Madison Square 1977, where they performed this tbh.
Quess e' lu rock!!
I was on a 10 day leave fresh out of boot camp and saw Joe do this one and a bunch of other ones, at the Moore theater in Seattle in late April of 1975......It was sure a welcome treat after the harsh military regime I had endured the previous 2 months and something that I'll remember for as long as I live. It seemed like the greatest show on earth.
President Trump loves Big Joe.
enjoy your day with good tunes
Got the place surrounded, ain't nobody home! Welcome to the club
We are not worthy
another amazing lp....thanks Joe Joe...alot of members of the Eagles on this LP....
This song has been stuck in my brain for --oh-- about 42 yrs now. I have to get a fix on it pretty much weekly. And then it's hard to leave, cause I just want some more.. I think it's the leads, they are so "intelligent"/unique/well executed, and they keep me begging for them to go on forever, or maybe its the lyrics they talk to some spot in my brain, or just the rhythm, the way the instruments so work together and push things along, and the bit of "rogue" timing, there just isn't anything like this music anymore.
thumbs down by 22 tone deaf rap listeners,Joe and Tom Petty ,, my gods. PS RAP AIN"T MUSIC ! You coconuts had Motown , that was music,, and you pissed it away !!!
Why don't you all mix up a bunch of oatmeal grits and onions and turnips and parsnip horse radish and let me stand back and watch you all puke
HEY JOE?..Guess my new job will be shoveling paraquete?and flamingo shit at the north pole?..While they are still hanging yankees in the back yard down in equatorital?..cause i'm still funkin crazy as they see it????????
The sad part of this story is that people won't realize how good a guitarist Joe is until he's gone...a true tone master!! Loves Fenders just as much as he loves Gibsons!! My all time guitar hero!!!
Mike Lowe top 5 imho
Mike Lowe I'm not so sure about that. I've realized for decades now just how far ahead JW is above others. Anyone who can take something composed by a classical genius such as Maurice Ravel back in the 15th century, or whatever it was,(i.e."The Bomber") and add your unique wizardry to it and make it sound better than the original, has definitely got special powers! So no offense intended, but in opposition to what you said about people not realizing how good he is, I think there are way more than you realize.
But you're right about lovin' his Fenders & Gibsons, he seems to play each about 50% of the time. In the top 5 for sure. More like top 2 or 3 when it comes to playing slide. No one can touch this guy. Long live Joe!
DAAANNG! God bless the 1970's now and FOREVER. Just listen to this song and the countless other masterpieces that were produced during that incomparable decade. In all genres! I just thank God I was here for it all! Would not want to have missed it! Props. to all you folks that were there too! We rule- We rock!
Definitely a happy place for me. Many great memories!
Just a great album way better than anything he ever did with the eagles love this 👍
DOCTOR"S MAKE YOU SICKER? I LOVE MY NURSE??????????????????/
I feel sorry for those who gave this a thumbs down.
Joe Walsh. The best American rock artist from the late 60s on up. Period.
My favorite Joe Walsh song, and LP, although many others are
right up there. The death of his beloved young daughter (Emma) before this
album was produced no doubt contributed to its “color” and its title “So What.”
After such a sad tragedy what else matters? Were I in his shoes I don’t think I
could have continued as he managed to do. It makes me appreciate him all the
more. Joe I’ve seen you in concert more that a couple of times and you are top
notch. Best wishes.
love all these comments! you all appreciate a great piece of work
Love his music
Joe Walsh For President..... then we ALL ....would be ...Welcome to the Club !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Joe. Thanks so very much
I swear... dude looks so much like Dale Earnhardt Sr. But he was way more famous long before Dale. Dale didn't really hit the scene till '80.
uniqc rock n roll spells joe walsh. Sorry Ive been drinkin'. My spelling is shite. Graet music though. mmm yeah
His life in music was a fruit full contribution !
Walsh is just awesome with this kind of stuff. He is classic and a one of a kind.
How great is this? Answer - pretty damn great!
Brilliant record. Joe is LOVED. LOVED.
summertime and party in Ohio 1975!!!!!!! Welcome to the club!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!wish i could go back !!!!!!!!!!
Did Joe's music get me through the Air Force Academy? Oh hellz yeah it did!
Every time I hear Emma it stops me in my tracks and makes me think about how fragile life is.
TEAC A-450
outstanding avatar!!!!!
Happy Birthday Joe! We saw you in concert in Cleveland at Blossom Music Center this past Summer 2016, GREAT SHOW! Hope to see you again! Next time we would like to hear some music from Analog Man as those are vintage Joe Walsh songs!
November 21st , Joe Walsh's birthday , Happy Birthday , Joe , thanks for all the great Music . .!
Actually it's Nov 20th, same as Duane Allman
Welcome to Joe's house!!!
My favorite JW song - and believe me that AIN'T no easy choice.
A favorite Joe Walsh song? That's like having a favorite page of the dictionary!
definitely one of mine, among many (Funk#49, Walk Away, Meadows, Turn to Stone, ...) !
The choosing IS a difficult thing. For me, I think two of my favs are from the James Gang days; "Ashes the Rain and I" as well as "The Bomber" do it for me. We all will have our favorites. It doesn't matter which ones because JW provides us with so much great ear candy.
How'd u do that way 2 many 2 pick from
Kick Ass! Oh yeah!! Welcome to the Club, y'all!!
Average Ordinary Guy.........really?Wish there were more!!
Sandra Snyder
sooooo under rated Joe Walsh........
love the pace of his songs :) you can't rush perfection
Joe cooked his songs slow and low. Smokin'
Joe Vitale is just amazing on this record. The bass and drums are beyond spectacular. Viciously understated brilliance.
Joe plays drums and Kenny P plays bass.
This album 1970 way ahead of its time love joe way better before he joined the eagles I always thought the eagles were kind of douchie
Dan Calestini douche-y is an understatement for the Eagles
Great tune agree joe vitale 2 joe s great together gives me goosebumps this song think about having it at my funeral love it
@Dan Calestini
Exactly. Fuck the Eagles.
OH YES !!!! THIS ALBUM TAKES ME BACK TO MY SENIOR YEAR OF HIGH SCHOOL !! IT SEEMED THAT EVERY MORNING, RADIO STATION WPLJ HERE IN NEW YORK CITY WOULD PLAY EITHER "WELCOME TO THE CLUB" OR "COUNTY FAIR" FROM THE JOE WALSH "SO WHAT" RECORD ALBUM, AND SUDDENLY I WAS READY TO ROCK !! THIS ALBUM STILL SOUNDS FANTASTIC TODAY !! "WELCOME TO THE CLUB" IS STILL MY FAVORITE SONG !! THANK YOU VoteForMe FOR POSTING THIS MASTERPIECE , WHICH SOUNDS AWESOME FROM BEGINNING TO END !! THANK YOU YOU/TUBE !!
I LISTENED TO WLIR AND WBAB......Bernie Barnard show. 1977
saw joe at the casino arena in asbury park in July '73, I think. The brecker brothers and peter frampton opened. lots of fun.
Did you happen to go to the King Crimson show at the Casino ?... I saw Joe Walsh at The Stone Pony once...
...you know it isn't easy...well Welcome to the Club
President Walsh
