Walsh, Joe - Here We Go Lyrics

I see the sun rise
Here comes the day
Where sunrise comes from
I am not knowing

I see with stained eyes
Help find my way
It all surrounds me
It is all snowing, flowing

Here we go

I hear a calling
Each one by name
And so many don't hear
They think it's the same old thing

I feel us falling
Back where we came
It all astounds me
Is it a sad thing, bad thing?

I don't know

Oh no...

It's amazing someone who portrayed such a party-hardy crazyman could write such heart-felt, introspective gems. Joe does it all the time. Check out Indian Summer on But Seriously Folks. Joe for President!!!

  5. G.... T....

the piece between 3:18 to 4:20....'that has stuck in my mind for nearly 50 yrs now. I still get chills hearing it. I just think it's about the most fantastic original "feeling-est" guitar work I have ever heard. The mind that created that is in synch with the universe.

I prefer this album over his hit n' miss subsequent albums which were mostly about the hits instead of sheer consistency.

This song is a pleasant walk into my teenage years. Thank you!

  12. K.... T....

Just great. Barnstorm has this kind of slow and laidback feel across the entire album, which makes it unique. And, Joe has been an inspiration for me with his exceptional and fluent playing on electric guitar.

  13. 1.... ....

Oh, I found the thread (it was aquagrump!). Any idea where between Gold Hill and Ward? Looks like pretty deep mountain driving on that road! I wonder how come this information is so hard to find!

  14. 1.... ....

Love this album, maybe the most nostalgic album ever (for me). Can anybody help me, maybe aquagrump, I am going to Colorado and traveling around the state soon. I used to live there. I have searched for hours on the internet, and cannot find out where the site of this album cover was shot. I don't know if the old barn is still standing (it would be amazing if it was!), but I would love somebody who knows exactly where this is. I cannot find this information anywhere, even on the liner notes of the album (well, CD). I swear this information is nowhere on the Internet. How can this be? I seem to remember someone telling me one time that it was somewhere in between two towns in Colorado. I looked it up on the map, but it looked like finding it would be tougher than a needle in a haystack! I would love to go to the exact spot while I am in CO. Anybody? Please?

  15. E.... I....

Aquadump, That club was called Middle Earth I think. I used to play Tolagis and that club in Boulder. Good friken times!

  16. I.... C....

This is by far a time when mr walsh turned his thoughts into a. Majestic and easy listening lyrics but hard rocking guitar riffs and leads that seem to hide behind the lyrics if you heard this album. With out lyrics you hear some serious rock and folk guitar. Brilliant ...stamped in time for eternity....irish

  17. m.... r....

what fantastic music-dreams from the past!

  18. D.... T....

    Thanks again. Bless Smoken' Joe😜

  19. K.... D....

The best!!! I remember buying this album back in the early 70"s.

  20. R.... R....

Still my favorite Walsh record after all these years. Timeless stuff.

  21. J.... M....

THANK YOU CHRIS ! SUCH SWEET MEMORIES OF JOE'S SWEET GUITAR. WAY TO GO CHRIS.

  22. J.... M....

    amazing....

  23. M.... C....

From Cleveland to Boulder. JW an absolute genius. Just like Joe I moved from Cleveland to the West with the inspiration from the Eagles, JW and Beach boys.

  24. M.... I....

Still have this on vinyl :)

    Truly amazing composition!

  25. T.... ....

This song is dripping with the Leslie Effect, so warm and shimmery...I love it.

  26. L.... C....

had this alblum when i was a teen (many moons ago) it was special to me wish i had it

  27. D.... D....

Thanks dad for turning me on to this & gifting me the LP. I love it!

  28. D.... E....

The only reason I would give this a thumbs-down is the static vid. Any other reason you all can suck a dick.

  29. S.... W....

Amazing tune, epic album. Thanks for bringing back solid memories of my youth.

  30. H.... W....

The transition at 3:16 takes us into some seriously moody layered stuff. It's astonishing how well designed this section was. The ARP Odyssey is the piece that elevates this section into a different kind of blues rock for Walsh. It's got a lot of elements that hadn't been fully mashed up before. Tambourine and analog synth hadn't really been laid down together (or maybe since).

    H.... W....

ARP. yep. Pete Townsend on Who's Next...prolly inspired Joe. they hung out a lot.

    H.... W....

    What does ARP stand for?

    H.... W....

@Lawrence Meyering Listen to the film version of the Who's Tommy .You can hear the same sounds that are in this song.

    H.... W....

@rolf bay Alan Robert Pearlman, the guy who started the company

  31. I.... G....

    lushest album ever :D

  32. D.... D....

saw them in Springfield,il back in the day,Joe also did some james gang songs

  33. a.... ....

I lived in Colorado at the time this record was released. I know were the abandoned barn on the album cover is. Anywhoo I had the opportunity to see the "Barnstorm" at a college 3.2 bar in Boulder. I don't know how they let us in because we were only 16. But it was great. They brought a lot of their sound gear for big places into a little one. It sounded great but my ears rang for days later. Good times.

    a.... ....

aquagrump do you remember the address?

    a.... ....

The barn was/is between Gold Hill and Ward west of Boulder. The bar was Tulagi's on the "Hill" in Boulder.

    a.... ....

aquagrump that's very neat sir! When I'm able to drive,(because I'm only 15), when we go out there, I'll have to look!

    a.... ....

aquagrump Ahem ....no that's not a jealous twitch in my eyes ..both of them !

    a.... ....

  42. R.... L....

I like  the classic approach turning to rock, very, very, tasteful. And at the end the sound of the wind...great classic this: As any from Joe. Hillary is going for President, Ms.Clinton: A big statue for this man please ?

    R.... L....

    you lost

  43. v.... ....

joes guitar sounds great ran through the leslie speakers.

    v.... ....

@vincentvanceable He and the late, great Tony Duhig of JADE WARRIOR had this down to an art form. It gave the guitar such an ethereal, transcendent sound. Sheer genius.

    v.... ....

Clapton...Blind faith..Presence of the Lord...the break that sets up the solo...Leslie all up in there..

  44. C.... F....

Damn...what a bad recording of such a good song.  Bass is muddy.

    C.... F....

Yes, would you please upload a clean, unmuddy version?  I am serious, and could you do the whole album?

    C.... F....

Kenny parsenelli played a fretless bass back then. I think it gives the album a great sound

  45. M.... W....

Always felt very blessed to be around Boulder in the early 70's. Joe somehow captured what it all really sounded like.
    Fantastic musician.

    M.... W....

M Wayne I lived in Golden in 1973. Played all Denver and Boulder. Brings good feelings.

  51. R.... B....

Thanks for posting this Great Album,,,, it brings back a lot of memories,,,, hmmmm,,,,

  52. A.... L....

My favorite Walsh album. Reminds of lonelier times - not that was a bad thing in retrospect. I agree the melancholy reaches me. This sort of segued into an interest into the Eagle's On The Border album and then naturally to J.D. Souther.

    A.... L....

@Alan Learned Check out the personnel on Dan Fogelberg's "Souvenirs" album. Give it a good listen.

    A.... L....

skydog757 Hey thanks for the suggestion man

  53. w.... ....

Caribou Ranch was closer to Nederland, really. But yeah. They must've been wonderful. Always loved that he recorded much of this album and some of The Smoker You Drink... here in my beloved homestate.

  54. M.... ....

The first concert I ever saw was Joe Walsh back in '75. I was 15 yrs old and loved his music. I hear this and I'm taken back to my youth. A time that was carefree, anything was possible as I had the world by the tail and nothing bad could ever happen in my life. The feelings of youth. Ones you have but once in a lifetime. And this music is tied to those feelings and that's a powerful bond. I hear this and I'm given back those once in a lifetime feelings and memories. What an amazing gift.

  55. J.... ....

On of the first records I ever owned...never get tired of it...years ahead of it's time...

  56. t.... ....

another one of my dad albums he has on vinyl. also has joes 73 album the smoker you drink the player you get

  58. J.... S....

manyyears ago when this came out i was still listening to the james gang when joe came out with this i started to be amazed and 40 yrs later still am

  59. D.... D....

Just got a hand-built rotating speaker cab made by Chandler. Has a single 12" with a baffle that spins. Pretty much the same as the bottom speaker in a Leslie Tall Boy.
Sounds awesome! The pipe organ sound from my Roland digital piano sounds incredible.

  60. g.... ....

There is nothing like a guitar played through a Leslie cabinet...;)

  61. A.... H....

    this is one badass song

  62. s.... ....

One of my greatest memories was seeing Joe Walsh and Barnstorm at the Whiskey on the Sunset Strip perform pretty much the whole Barnstorm album! There was a metal, or hard rock band before them with Marshall stacks, who were boring. Then Joe came out with just a little Fender Amp and a grey echoplex on a bar stool and just rocked the house They had a piano player crammed in between Joe Vitale and Kenny Passarelli. .After that I saw them all month, This was before he joined the eagles. Fantastic!

  63. B.... ....

@shldnbschmn I am in total agreement with you- I couldn't have said it better. I am addicted to this album (and to Joe Walsh in general). I was only 5 yrs old when this album came out but my dad had the vinyl LP, which I have now, so I grew up listening to it. I now also have the CD & this album on my Walkman- I just can't get enough of it!!!!

  64. s.... b....

    best album/least known... criminal.

guitar you can taste and eat with colours. beautiful. genius. haunting.

there's not an album in my collection that conveys pictures in my head, emotions, and certain vivid memories of times passed, like Barnstorm.

never will be another like it.

  65. m.... e....

I first herd this album when stationed in San Diego. The song and great weed took me away.great days.

  66. P.... ....

    Joe Walsh, never gets old....

  67. J.... ....

I was 17 when I bought this album in 1972, and this was really cutting edge music back then. Still outstanding today, its good to see so many young people appreciate and enjoy this album and all of Joe's tunes. Truly an unheralded genius who assembled great musicians to play with him. Thanks guys!

  68. D.... R....

still got the album, sounds as good today as it did back then. brilliant stuff Joe Walsh the genious

  69. T.... B....

Peace and Love - Peace and Love!

  70. D.... R....

Put a few more up Chris.. maybe the whole album

  71. K.... L....

    So good.

  72. C.... F....

Sheesh...he gonna lose his wings, he tries flying through THAT barn!

Mebbe in the future "that barn" was The Eagles. Seems he's been partying too heavily since then, doesn't care any longer, lost his mellow keen edge.

I hope to hell he's still jamming with people in his neighborhood. And I hope he has plenty of descendants. He's the original "What, ME? Worry?" guy of rock and roll. And our planned future favors that.

  73. A.... J....

"Here we go!" This song stuck with me through all the rough times...it's like "how can it get better?"

  74. g.... t....

people are simply lazy ... they post nice audio, and seem to trouble movin the pictures... be creative man ,,,one pic, five minutes n two seconds... give me a break!

  84. t.... ....

I was very young when this came out but in my teens I made up for it.One of my all time favorites.thanks for the post sir.

  85. J.... O....

remember seeing Joe at a bar here in Houston called the Yucatan Liquor Stand. He wore a big hat and huge feather and had signs Joe Walsh for President. We should have voted for him!

  86. B.... 1....

This song has good ol' groove to it. Takes you back when music was innovative and coursed deep in the listeners veins. This tune does that to me. Walsh can lay a tune like few could ever. Mr. 70s himself.

  87. g.... ....

I saw Barnstorm open for the Eagles at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville River Festival...before he joined the Eagles...Barnstorm was the show, the Eagles sounded lite in comparison! Sorry to Eagles lovers everywhere...!

  88. D.... W....

Barnstorm is a song cycle. The songs were written produced and fade to segue and bridge into one another.

  89. k.... ....

I'm getting back into Walsh music after many, many years. I love his guitar voicing and technique.

  90. D.... W....

I have not heard this song for 20 years. It amazes me how these guys were thinking so completely in orchestral/symphonic terms when they made this album. The sincerity of Joe's vocals ties it all together. You really get the feeling you're up with them at 8,000 feet in the mountains putting down some songs they wrote during the day.

  91. 1.... ....

how is it? you play a song & then your there,,,36 years earlier,,Joe is certainly master of time travel,,thank you mr. walsh,,thank you for posting

  92. I.... M....

beautiful. This song grabbed me from the first time I heard it in 1998.

  93. d.... ....

Brings tears to my eyes, too...all these years later...Joe knows how to elicit those pent-up emotions...what talent he had!

  94. f.... ....

goose bumps start at :29 and DON'T LET UP! I'm just gonna sit here & listen to Joe make that Strat flat sing all night.......

  95. r.... ....

Brings tears to my eyes all these years later.

  96. f.... ....

This is one of Joe's absolute best early works.
