Wall, Colter - Night Herding Song Lyrics

Oh say, little dogies, why don't you lay down?
You've wandered and trampled all over the ground
Lay down, little dogies, lay down

I've cross-herded, circle-herded, trail-herded too
But to keep you together, that's what I can't do
Bunch up, little dogies, bunch up

My horse is leg-weary and I'm awful tired
But if I let you get away I'm sure to get fired
Bunch up, little dogies, bunch up

I love this one, especially late at night. It’s magical. And I love the ending. It kind of just drops off, like the cowboy finally drops off into the sleep he was avoiding.

My daughter is 2 years old and this is her favorite song. Every day when we are in the car she says "daddy doggie song?" And we listen to it 3-4 time back to back. I have the vinyl and any time I step near the vinyls I hear "doggie song!?" right behind me. Colter Wall is by far my favorite artist and I'm very happy to see my little girl fall in love with such great music. She gets so excited when Colter comes on.

My 16-month old really likes Colter Wall as well, but Dead South is his favorite. He tries snapping his fingers and stomping his feet along with them.
