Wakefield - Around Lyrics

You need the ground
You needed face down
I tried to tell you this
I hit you back
There was no impact
The smarter you are
The harder it is

And there's no use calling now
I'm making my way out
Cause when you hit the pavement
I don't wanna be around
Whatever hill you're climbing now
I know you'll roll back down
And nothing I can do will save you
So I don't wanna be around

Already done
Burning since day one
You have taken this to far
You forced it down
Like it's something bad now
But I don't mind
It's what you hide inside

And there's no use calling now
I'm making my way out
And I'm not gonna blame you
But I don't wanna be around
Whatever hill you're climbing now
I know you'll roll back down
And nothing I can do will save you
So I don't wanna be around

When everything is rattling
What you bring will detonate us all
Detonate us all
So turn it off
Had enough
Find the pulse
Don't you let it fall
Don't you let it fall
I don't wanna be around

And there's no use calling now
I'm making my way out
Cause when you hit the pavement
But I don't wanna be around
Whatever hill you're climbing now
I know you'll roll back down
And nothing I can do will save you
So I don't wanna be around

Leave you
I don't wanna be around [x2]

When everything is rattling
What you bring
I don't wanna be around
Had enough
Give it up
Your just stuck
I don't wanna be around

It boggles MY mind how Americans and Canadians can drive on the right. Look, it's what you're used to, and the left is not the wrong side, it is the CORRECT side when you're in the UK. Why do North Americans think they're always right?

    T.... ....

TheRenaissanceman65 Interesting fact Canadians and any person who is born on the massive land mass AKA continent which runs from Tierra del Fuego aka Earth of fire in Spanish near the South Pole all the way up North to kiska Island on the Bering Sea near the homeland of the current USA President VLADIMIR PUTIN is an American.,.

Did you notice at the beginning at 1:28 the white car stopped to let you turn right ? There was no reason in law for him to do that , it was just being polite . I bet you that would not happen in the USA !

We drive on the left because a long time ago most people were right handed, so everyone drove/rode on the left so they could defend from attackers on their right. Then the US and French government came along and said that horse and cart drivers can't attack because their seat is on the left, so the moved the side of the road the drive on to the right, so they could. Then gradually, the whole world followed. The UK did consider changing in the 60s. It would be a huge job because signs would have to be changed, slip roads would need lengthening/shortening, 1/10 junctions would need re-doing etc.

I really enjoyed living in Wakefield from 2006-2008, met some really nice people there, Now I am back in the States watching videos of Wakey on YT.

  10. f.... p....

    I love wakefield

  11. M.... ....

I used to live in Wakefield in the 1970s when I was in my teens and it's scary that I don't recognise any of the first 30 seconds because it's all changed round behind Westgate railway station and up towards the Batley Road. At 2:11 you go past Clayton Hospital (big stone window set in a brick building) and it always used to intrigue me that in big letters over that window it said "Canning Children's" which made me think of a place where they put children into tin cans (yuck) but I think it was a children's ward named after a Mr Canning ;-)

It's interesting that you say how confusing you found it driving or being driven on the wrong side of the road. When I drove in the US (round Boston and down to Cape Cod) I found it fairly easy - you just did everything the opposite way round. Being on the correct side of the car helps - I wouldn't like to drive a RHD car in Europe. The only problem I found with the US was that pedestrian crossings (cross walks, "Ped Xing") were harder to see from a distance (no flashing orange lights that we have) and some side roads don't have a give-way line so it's difficult to judge how far back to stop when waiting to pull out, especially when the minor road is at the bend in a major road!

    Me too.

We were there for 18 days and we still couldn't get used to traffic travelling in an opposite direction than we are used to. I had to look both ways before crossing the street. My wife almost forgot once or twice. And yes Louise is a great driver. She is a grounded wonderful person who everyone loves. Her husband is a fast driver. Its kind of like a roller coaster ride with him. He's a great man though. He'd give you the shirt of his back if you needed it. Seems like the norm in England.

  16. t.... ....

Of course its well driven and considerate... The driver has lived in Wakefield all her life. We Canadians would have crashed. The drivers name is Louise and she is from Wakefield. The passenger is my wife Jo from Canada.

    t.... ....

Interestingly, when I went to Canada it took me a couple of hours to be fully OK with the roads. I guess when they are so much wider it's easy to get used to.

  17. t.... ....

The trip was awesome. It was one of those times that may dull over the years but will never fade. Wonderful country and wonderful people.

  18. t.... ....

Wait till you try crossing the road as a pedestrian or trying to park your car.

  19. B.... ....

Seems so confusing compared to North American driving.

  20. t.... ....

You made my wife smile. She likes your comment.

You know what I like the most in such videos? It's the atmosphere we can get to feel. It's just amazing to see the cars, the sidewalks, the people going and coming and such. I've watched lots of tour videos like this and I can tell you that yours has been one of the best. Maybe because the girl who's holding the cam is very funny and easygoing. At least she sounded like one. :)

    Anyway, nice experience.
    Huge hug from Brazil.

Why is it the wrong side of the road, ?
