Waits, Tom - Rain Dogs Lyrics

Inside a broken clock
Splashing the wine
With all the rain dogs
Taxi, we'd rather walk
Huddle a doorway with the Rain Dogs
For I am a Rain Dog, too

Oh, how we danced and we swallowed the night
For it was all ripe for dreaming
Oh, how we danced away
All of the lights
We've always been out of our minds

The rum pours strong and thin
Beat out the dustman
With the rain dogs
Aboard a shipwreck train
Give my umbrella to the Rain Dogs
For I am a Rain Dog too

Oh, how we danced with the
Rose of Tralee
Her long hair black as a raven
Oh, how we danced and you
Whispered to me
You'll never be going back home
You'll never be going back home

Oh, how we danced and we swallowed the night
For it was all ripe for dreaming
Oh, how we danced away
All of the lights
We've always been out of our minds

  24. C.... W....

213 rain dogs don't appreciate being lumped in with Tom Waits' claim that they've always been out of their minds and some would even like to inform you that, despite such accusations, they continue to lead normal, productive lives.

    Qué puto genio

  27. J.... S....

As you well know, this is from the movie Big Time. If you don’t own a copy, I suggest you kill yourself. 16 Shells from a Thirty Ought Six makes me want to grind my teeth down to the roots and take a buzzsaw to my knees. I had the VHS transferred to a DVD and play it whenever I’m feeling the world is just one enema away from collapse. Which is usually when Friday the 13th falls on a Tuesday. And we all know that’s real bad luck.

    J.... S....

Thanks! Now I can sleep peacefully.

  28. T.... L....

    Melodic

  29. C.... B....

    Kurt Weil, Nina Hagen??

  30. J.... B....

This guy sold his soul to a Barmaid and I saw him do it. He's never getting out of here.

Y'all love Tom Waits hey, check out Australian singer songwriter. "William C. Black"
His album Booze, Blues and Suicide.

  40. M.... R....

I may be wrong, but I think
“Rain Dogs” is a mix of Castilian music.

    M.... R....

    ..And what?

  41. M.... B....

There were performers like this in Europe before 1930,,,before the deluge,,,in Prague Vienna Berlin,,,,there Pierot and Harlequin danced with the Whore and the Pimp, Waits is part of a great tradition,,,,and yet wholly unique, Honour to him

  42. B.... A....

Does anyone know something about the dance he does at the end? Is that some kind a traditional or cultural dance?

    B.... A....

I may very well be wrong, but I believe it's either Russian or Romani. Either way; yes, it's definitely a traditional/cultural dance.

  43. S.... S....

Just show me the names of those 200 imbecile ,fucktard ,uneducated good fo nothing fagets who dislike this and i will slit their throat just for the sake of this track !

Yes it comes from 'Big Time' and was only released on VHS.

  58. J.... D....

Does anyone have any idea what this is from?

    J.... D....

    s.... ....

  77. A.... S....

    Pure genius.

  78. c.... y....

Is there anybody who could see a glass of Turkish Raki just near the bottle of whiskey in front of the accordion guy wearing his fez? ;) This is definitely related to the Turkish-Balkan music.

  79. F.... F....

    Finally found my dancing sibling

  80. J.... O....

Still think " Big Time " is his best performance. I like in this one how they all creep to the center to complete the whatever, creepy circus motif.

  81. J.... D....

Im not english mother tongue so I don't understand the words at first listen . When I first heard this song 5 years ago, it sounded to me like a villain song from a Tim Burton movie lol I fell in love

    J.... D....

English *is* my mother tongue and I don't understand the words at first listen

    J.... D....

@ᑎᓚᓐ ᒐᕐᑌᕐ English is your mother tongue and you don't understand how to use tenses properly? Yeesh!

  82. m.... g....

He was so hot at one time

  84. N.... ....

67 ans de BeuGleurie so bienveillante .... merci Tom... Jazz-Rock-Kurt Weil magnificience Guy !!!! encore.... encore.... ENCORE !!!!!!

  85. M.... C....

i was pretty sure this couldn't get any better until i saw accordian guy jamming out with his fez

    M.... C....

In ecstasy. Notice how the musicians moved to form a ragged band behind him? Brilliant.

  86. D.... S....

..."Is this kezmer music?"...better to ask "is there any genre he hasn't touched, visited, seduced, twisted, chewed-up and spit out morphed?"....an acid nightmare chameleon....simply unbelievable...

  87. J.... T....

Fantastic perfomance . Tom is a genius. I love this guy

  88. Y.... T....

Played this for people who actually care about fashion, pop music and the latest IPhone (you know; people who never had an original thought) and most of them either hated it, or could not handle it. I was so thankful...

  89. m.... I....

    auuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

  90. J.... P....

Why isn't this guy in a metal band?

    J.... P....

    He's too complicated for that.

    J.... P....

I like metal but I also like this. Rather have Tom doing something that no else really does and listen to metal another time.

  91. O.... M....

    Вэйтс - гений.

  92. L.... O....

    Is this Klezmer music?

    L.... O....

I had the same thought, Lisa O. Davis.

    L.... O....

Lisa O. Davis influenced by klezmir at least, but Tom waits really does whatever he wants- I don’t think it fits into a genre box

    T.... F....

you must not hear very much

    T.... F....

    @Joseph Hathy I hear perfectly.

    T.... F....

Trip Fontaine Then I pity your ears to be in the head of someone who cant appreciate this wonderful musician

  95. P.... W....
