I feel like Ronan Harris has a difficult time being a human. The stuff that he says falls on so many deaf ears, and goes unacknowledged.

I saw him 2014 at "One Eyed Jacks" in New Orleans. The show was perfect. And, was able to chat with him at the after party, said the venue was awesome.

I should have elaborated. I love the band and the live sound. He gives every show every ounce of his energy. His voice really isn't what it used to be live. He cuts out often now and it's not just from the sound team, he likely ruined his vocal chords.

I don't think it's right to DENY someone an interpretation of VNV lyrics that happens to match their faith. I also don't think it's right to try and FORCE that interpretation on someone who doesn't share your faith, though... so take that as you will.

This song (and album) has been on my playlist for a while now, but tonight the lyrics jumped out @ me provided much needed inspiration. God or Buddha or Big Bang. This track can truly inspire one towards keeping on my& hope.

It doesn't matter if 'the energies' that carry you are God or your own - the truths you find will carry you. No greater symbolism than the one you provide.

Call me a cynical because I believe I am, but I see the world around me as realistically as I can attempt to do so. This means abandoning whatever previous dillusional faith I had dependant on my environment to help preserve an idea that will only carry me so far. I am a human being. There is no religion, no belief, that will change that, or determine what I do. Ideas may redefine who you are, like religion, but they don't determine what you do. VNV Nation makes me think about it all. It's good.

It depends upon the choice you make: choosing for concepts imposed by others or choosing your own path with your own morals. I'm not saying the latter is better. As I understand it, having grown up in Ireland and seeing the sectarian violence there, Ronan is deeply spiritual but very critical of religion. I think most of his musical writing reflects that.

You can be religious without having a religion.

The origin of the world "religion" probably came from "réligare" who means "make bonds between (community, humanity, god, etc.)", who becamed in the years "relies". I found the original acception of the term to be beautiful :)
