I'm here becasue I was reading a Christgau review of Wire's Pink Flag (I went to the page to read his review of the Wipers' Is This Real), and he says "this isn't 'Some Kinda Love' " or something, and I think of the Misfits song and I figure he's referencing some old song they got the phrase from. you know them and old stuff. so then I see it's a Velvets' song and I'm a little confused. I never made the connection before. I mean it's Some "Kinda" Love, like the 'Fits do it, not "Kind of" as the title here so... I mean "some kinda love" is pretty distinctive I think Glenn would've had to've taken it from here. which is a little different. 'course the resemblance ends there. they just appropriated everything. that's interesting though. this has been Punk Talk.

P.S. discovering the Wipers and also This Heat, and thinking of Pink Flag... then hearing this? this is the first I've felt VU were overrated. if only 'cause so much else is underrecognized..

It sounds much different to the original version, and not just the mix; it seems to be a different take and lead vocal.

Sterling was THE shit

I prefer the closet mix.  It's moodier and more thoughtful.  This one is a bit of a bouncy crowd-pleaser

The Velvet Underground's self titled album is my favorite Velvet Underground album. Darn shame that the VU's self titled album was a commercial failure back in 1969.

None of their albums were big hits in a commercial sense. But they're recognized now for what they truly were.
