Vaughan, Stevie Ray - Taxman Lyrics
Let me tell you how it will be
There's one for you, nineteen for me
'Cause I'm the taxman, yeah, I'm the taxman
Should five per cent appear too small
'Cause I'm the taxman, yeah I'm the taxman
If you drive a car, I'll tax the street,
If you try to sit, I'll tax your seat.
If you get too cold I'll tax the heat,
If you take a walk, I'll tax your feet
Don't ask me what I want it for
If you don't want to pay some more
'Cause I'm the taxman, yeah, I'm the taxman
Now my advice for those who die
Declare the pennies on your eyes
'Cause I'm the taxman, yeah, I'm the taxman
And you're working for no one but me

Vaughan, Stevie Ray Taxman Comments
Doesn't sound like Stevie. Voice that is.
Great but with all due respects McCartney in his solo is way much more amazing
wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The tax man hate that guy. I love the music of Stevie Ray.
Awesome! Fantástico!
The live version SRV does of this song is fantastic. Too bad there only seems to be an audio only version out there.
Tax man rolls around with violent oxen. Just restitution is a thing of ancient law.
Almost All Along The Watchtower
Great cover, not taking anything from him at all but the beatles will always be my favorite
Render unto ceasar that which is ceasars

Nice cover! It's cool hearing different versions of songs. 😎
Yes sir the tax man is a great song as well many other songs SRV bends those strings to as he plays them like no one else could.
who is this clown? he ruined a great song
The best "Taxman" song of all time. Stevie Ray Vaughan will forever be the best ever guitarist in world history. 1954-1990.
Nope, Beatles and Hendrix - not even close on either !
Waaaayyyyyy better than the beatles.
Bullshit
First hearing of this cover. I was waiting to see if he'd include the Taxman, Mr Wilson - Taxman Mr Heath line. :) This is great. Not bad at all.
Is that Wolf man Jack on vocals 🤔
that laugh at 2:55 is one my favorite srv moments i dont why !
He IS the Taxman here lol. IDK why I get the visual image of SRV as the Disney version of 'Robin Hood's tax collecting, slimebag, wolf with an Alabama accent 'Sheriff of Nottingham'.
@Terminator X hahaha epic!
Mark 2:13-17
tax those airwaves that you ride

Good god that's beautiful
He ruined it lol
God damn fuck yes
I was playing my CD on the way into work this morning...Stevie Ray's hits....and I thought this really applies to what is going on now....just finished my taxes! Hate the IRS!
Music snobs: Don’t cover the Beatles! You can’t do anything to add to it
Stevie Ray: Hand me my Strat and hold my beer 🤘 I love Stevie. One of my all time idols 🎸 Rest In Peace brother
The Best Cover Ever!
such a rare Dude , SRV this version is my go to
Yup, great line dude. Music is never stolen. We evolve.
It's a compliment when Stevie covers your song!!!
I prefer this version; Steve actually sounds like he is the taxman here. Plus the blues elements here make the song sound badass but not forced.
This version has always blown me away
I'm adding this to the hold music rotation this tax season at the CPA firm I work at.
Beatles Just Got Rocked By That Texan.
this stomps the original , and how

I found out about SRV when we lived in San Antonio, an album before he broke big with TEXAS FLOOD. He was a regional legand; I think that was the year he was first featured on AUSTIN CITY LIMITS. Superb stuff.
I like the way Stevie Ray sings it. Kinda sleazy. Cool.
yeah, kinda sinister!
THANK YOU STEVIE WE WILL NEVER FORGET THE ROME IN AUSTIN TX
Happy April 15th everyone!
Do you remember hearing, "What if there was a war and nobody showed?"
What if everybody just forgot to pay The Man?
Social media is a war zone right now, and it seems everyone has shown up to fight. Can you imagine the reaction from The Man if everyone deactivated their accounts, and instead spent the time they'd have otherwise spent slinging hate from a distant keyboard taking care of their neighbors?
What if everyone ignored The Man and his dirty dividing plan?
bebopalloobop - O man. The mind boggles. I'm 50-something and the social climate these days is far beyond my comprehension. Still can't get my head round why everybody thinks we should all be clones of each other, or else we're the enemy to be destroyed.
No doubt Stevie ray was a great but Pauls solo is still the one .
These replies are like those bars that electrons frequent - too much negativity. Can't we all just get along? Wait, I didn't say that, Rodney King did. Nevermind. Continue. Sgt. Pepper sucked, The Abbey Road Medley sucks, The Stones sucked, metal sucks, jazz sucks, rap sucks, soul sucks, Bach sucks, Beethoven sucks, rock sucks, vacuum cleaners suck, magical vortexes suck, black holes suck, that skeezy but kinda hot chick at the trailer park sucks, but only for $40 bucks, you suck, I mean all y'all, and I suck. No wait, I don't suck. I'm cool. :D Wait, all y'all don't suck either. Wait -----
+Abandoned NorthJersey
I respectfully disagree.
i honestly like this version way better
@Tanveer Khan You suck bro, and so does this lame version!
@Jim Coleman You suck more by writing such comments.
I think he's talking about Barack Obama?
+Devon Cody It's a song written in 1966 by George Harrison. Originally mentioned Taxman - Mr. Heath, Mr. Wilson. Find out who they were by yourself :-)
+woody Oh my god, he was joking.
+woody: Telling someone to find something out for themselves is basically saying you know fuck all about it.
Yes, he was joking. Very badly.
I agree with the below and Stevie Ray died in 1990 which is a hellofa long time before Mr. Obama - DC Films you're foolish and uninformed at best
SRV "taxman"
@Ethan Morris seems like a nice man! Stevie's my influence, I play and Ido a tribute to him every year
+Adrian Avila Hi Adrian.!
@Valentine Janiky Hi Val
Hey Ethan , How ya been ?
Hello Ethan
diosito no puedo dormir sin escucharla antes es mi rason de bibir amo esta cansion
I love this song!!!!!!
'' Don't mess with Taxman..!! ''
With all due respect to the greatest writing duo in history, it was actually written by GEORGE HARRISON. This not the first time it happened to George. Frank Sinatra called "Something" the greatest love song ever written, but credited it to Lennon/McCartney as well.
A very disappointing cover, no match for the brilliance of the original.
WHATTTTTTTTT????
+squeakymonkfish I respectfully disagree.
Lel, u think beatles are better than Stevie Ray Vaughan. You must be troubled somehow.
He´s doing it kind of Howlin Wolf-ish
+MrAnderswt Good observation, and agreed!
Nice one from SRV... cheers .. gus
KILLER as always!
what a awful cover
Not completely awful, But definitly not Good
Toke Merstrand the Beatles killed it, this is garbage.
Vlad Tepes okay
haahhahahaa
dafook
A Texan does anything better than a European... Sits down, cracks open beer, waits for 6 Europeans to tell him "he didn't win, he lied; he's arrogant; he's an idiot; his country is too new for him to accomplish anything; he's a triggered 'murican, he just wants to 'murican all over muh Beatles", and last but not least, "Texas is an awful state, everyone there is a gun crazy psycho and therefore incapable of doing anything better than any European." Rest assured, your legacy is safe at home, SRV.
Nice cover! I love SRV and George Harrison.
Good taste n music Diego.
@kenny baird thanks, you too.
McCartney played lead guitar on the original!
Hope hurting no one if i say i don't particularly like this version
You to kind, its higher 50%+
You buy a new PC, The PC taxed a tariff, Sale Tax, The store you bought it from pays income tax on the sale, + Land, Water, Heat, Electricity Tax, SS Tax on the Employs that sold it to you. In order for to buy it, you need a job. So You pay income tax SS, FICA,Welfare Tax. Car tax, Plate, Drivers License, Fuel, Tires, Oil, Tools Tax. Your home, Lunch, Cloths, Land, water bill, Heat, Electricity, Phone Tax. Just one great big spider web of TAX,
P.S. Your ISP Tax!
You made my last 25 years bro.
I started listening to SRV in 1983, and seen him live front row in late 1986.
Its funny, think this, Flock of Seagulls, Culture Club and Michael Jackson was all over the radio then SRV. He was truly ahead of his time.
kffive. Your right. Everyone was listening to crap on the radio. This guy comes out with T bone Walker licks to the 25 th power and spoke the ancient Tounque. Bye Boy George ! SRV saved the World !
Mr Hackapell, you are shitting bull my friend
taxes are VERY high in the US. if you figure in ALL The taxes you pay, especially on services and hidden in the price of goods. income tax alone for a lot of people is 30-40%
I hate these BOODY ads. I always "Skip ad".
And I don't agree with you, I do not like communism, but that is probably the most polite YouTube comment I have ever read.
No they're not, what are you talking about?
Taxes are 95 plus percent in the United States.
American's like their 5 percent a year. They bend over to defend the system at every turn.
Communism SUCKS!
Good point! I don't agree with you, I want America to be a communist country, but still, good point.
Just because taxes here are low compared to the rest of the world doesn't mean we can't do better.
Hardly. Income tax in the US isn't really all that much compared to many other places in the world. You'd be very hard pressed to find someone shelling out 95 cents in the dollar.
Hay que tener mucho arte, para hacer esta versión de The Beatles... todo lo demás solo son copias de Taxman... esta es una verdadera versión, llevada a su terreno.
Awesome song
I was born in the wrong fucking generation.
I doubt that SRV would have agreed with you on this point.
To do a Beatles song "well" should be compliment enough. Stevie, as you said, did "great." The only artist I ever heard do Beatles material better than the Beatles themselves is Joe Cocker. That being said, this is a great version of a great tune!
This song explains what's wrong with Big Government worldwide.
do you LIVE in america? not with obama
"Anarchistic"? I wish! Most Americans are still huge statists, like most of the world.
Stevie did a great job on this song, I think we can all agree on that. But I don't know if it was or was not better than the Beatles' version.
Except the taxes are low in America
I was half-joking. Obviously, it won't get THAT bad, at least I hope not.
You know, I'm really not in the mood to get into this. But you're wrong.
You're so funny.......... -_-
who's whining? ;)
GO Stevie Go.......The best among the best.
Your post thoroughly explains Americans: whiny anarchistic bitches.
Only a matter of time with you-know-who running the country now.
it`s harder to write a good song with three or four chords than alot of wanking
better late than never. Get ready to have fun & have your mind blown !
love it!
he's playing behind his back..
Ahh, no, it really doesn't. Until you're getting a NINETY-FIVE PERCENT tax rate, as were the Beatles when this song was written, you have NO reason for complaining.
SRV covering the Beatles.
Life complete.
its never too late
shit why am i discovering this guy so late
It's funny how music is sometimes called a universal language meaning all can enjoy as well as play or sing whatever song and people get together and start a conversation and fuck up the entire concept....I saw mick jagger ina concert once as a teen and guess what??? the first three songs were old blues tunes......
