Vannelli, Gino - The Surest Things Can Change Lyrics

I love you now
And I never want to change my mind
But love is strange
And the surest things can change

We carry love
More than we can stand to lose
But who can say
The things we feel this day
Are the things we feel in time

Oh how can I be sure
The sun will rise in days to come
And now that I am yours
The world is still for you and I

We carry dreams
Like children in the spring of life
But love is pain
And the purest things can change

Who can say
The things we feel this day
Are the things we feel in time

Oh how can I be sure
The sun will rise in days to come
And now that I am yours
The world is still in cloudless sky
But sad as rain
The surest things can change...

Mister vannelli is an icone of modern music.timeless like stevie.

    N.... s....

Gino's speciality : mood setting music
Superb voice and highly skilled in playing the right chords

  6. f.... m....

It makes me kind of sad that only Gino's more commercial hits get any attention these days. They're good songs, and I'm glad they get the recognition they deserve. But these unsung gems are masterpieces.

  7. K.... C....

    GINO❤️

  8. t.... ....

    How good is this?
Stevie Wonder would have been proud to have written, performed, and produced this track.
Freddy Hubbard, Jazz trumpet GIANT, does a great, faithful, instrumental version of this:
Check it out, it's worth it.
(Musically, does anything indicate '70's-hip like a Fender Rhodes through a phase-shifter? If you could ask Richard Tee, he would say "NO!")

    t.... ....

Stevie W very good at mellow songs. But imo, Gino is a master of mood-setting music
    In music & words

  9. t.... ....

He was ahead of his time for sure. My favorite artist !!

  32. K.... M....

don't forget Joe Vannelli. Yes, Gino can stand on his own with his musical gifts. However, part of his greatness is due to the awesome arrangements done by his brother Joe V. What a team!!!!!

    K.... M....

    SO very VERY true

  33. B.... M....

I was in love with a man who was a Romeo in every essence of the word. He introduced me to this music and used it to seduce me. It worked. I will never forget those days in the early 80s.

man I wish I knew what love was when I was listening to this album as a little boy when my mother had this album and if I had a girlfriend when I was little I'll play this song for her if she could understand it back then real talk

  41. a.... b....

Absolutely beautiful and underrated song. Was 17 and silly as f**k when this dropped. This song made me sit down, shut up and get introspective about what a real relationship makes a man feel like. Love Gino Vannelli

  42. L.... S....

    Love is...and will be... forever.

  43. e.... b....

As great as Gino is on this, nobody ever mentions the girl singing background vocals......she was incredible.

    e.... b....

3 female voices  on this LP. Joanie Bartels, Lynda Carter , & Joanne Layde & recorded at Abbey Road Studios

    e.... b....

    @Christer Espevoll quite amazing !

  44. R.... M....

As a 20 year boy in college, a girlfriend introduced me to Gino's music.... I was in love with his voice and songs.... I knew I was gay at that moment for sure because I just..........I just fantasized about being with him. Stupid fantasy, but man, I loved him then and I love him now... Those memories of his songs and how he carried me through life live with me forever.. Thank you, Gino.

  45. M.... G....

  47. G.... S....

Just a classic by one of our great singers

  48. G.... F....

When I listened to "The Gist of the Gemini" in the summer of 76 I was blown away...
I was listening to someone ahead of his time. A master at work !

    G.... F....

That was the album I fell for too. I had NO idea what I was even listening too but it was unlike anything else I'd ever heard. An astral trip on vinyl.

  49. l.... k....

This song takes me back to my young adulthood to when I thought I would never be old...Well I got old and this song transcends the many years, it takes me all the way back...and that is a good thing.

  50. M.... M....

always loved Gino and we are the same age so when I listen to these songs I try to remember my life back then and just how unique a talent he is.

  51. S.... 2....

Just daydream about that special someone...and it'll all come back to you! :) It did for me.

  52. H.... ....

Gino was decades ahead of the times.Dont  know what else to say. One of a kind......

    H.... ....

+HAAAAA67 Correction, he is timeless. And I agree with you my friend.

    H.... ....

    HAAAAA67 and I agree 2 real talk

  53. D.... J....

    he is right on this

  54. K.... B....

    ahhh....my favorite Gino song...

  55. S.... 2....

Oh, yes... so very beautiful! This is from my era... 1970s, in 11th Grade and summertime laying in my bedroom listening to this!  A great singer that I don't know but somehow eras and decades seem to have forgotten! :)

  56. M.... D....

I love Gino! I wish more 20 year olds like myself loved him too. He's incredibly taken for granted. I love him so much that I wrote a research paper about him and the lack of praise he receives. #iloveginovannelli

    M.... D....

I have all his LP's from the 70's. This was his best in my opinion. Life was good and newer and this music was there. Enjoy it MJ

    M.... D....

Living Inside Myself was his biggest "pop" hit

    M.... D....

"Brother to Brother" is one of my favourite songs. I hope that was featured in your paper.

    M.... D....

    Where can we read it?

    M.... D....

@SamBAss42 but, at least, Gino achieved something quite amazing: this album was recorded at Abbey Road (1977) Gino was just 25
I saw him live in 1991 fantastic gig !

  57. J.... T....

Great Vocalist that doesn't get enough recognition.

    J.... T....

Could be because the mindless masses only remember Black Cars or Wild Horses. If they would have checked out his 70's work they would be singing a different tune. 1973-1978 was his best period.

    J.... T....

I agree. I love Gino's music and am not a big fan "Black Cars."

    J.... T....

Plus his brothers Joe and Ross that made huge contributions to Gino's career that have not been recognized or appreciated, either. Unfortunate.

    J.... T....

I agree....although I think Gino himself has always recognized and appreciated his brothers' contributions. At least, that is my impression from things I've heard him say in several interviews. One I found particularly touching was his first appearance on "Soul Train." He said first that he wrote his own material but collaborated with Joe on arrangements, etc. Then when he introduced the band, he said, "And my flesh and blood, my brother Joe." And then, of course, there are the lyrics to "People I Belong To."

    J.... T....

    @A Pa ,,Joe great soul...& Musician...Ross too..

  58. m.... ....

    best song ever...

  59. G.... V....

Ginos music belongs to another, better era ... Thnx Sergio!
