This song brings me back to the breakup of all breakups in my life and makes my heart twinge again for the way this song made me feel when I thought about him.

I think this is all about self loathing and low self esteem in relationships. When you're filled with inner doubts and regrets it's almost impossible to love yourself, and if you (the person who you think knows yourself best) can't love you, it's almost impossible to believe someone else can.
So you settle for disdain and allow yourself to get pushed away not getting too close to anyone, trying to look anywhere else but at yourself. Unfortunately the answer can't be found in any other way than facing yourself, certainly not in the obsession with others that comes from this mindset.
I understand this because I'm there right now. In my only serious romantic engagement so long ago I got my heart broken, but that's fine. I can live with that pain and move on, it was a long time ago. What's still suffering is my pride and self-esteem: I just can't seem to believe in myself anymore.
I truly revealed myself, everything about me I loved and hated and it wasn't enough for her.

And I'm a guy, by the way. Woman don't have the market cornered when it comes to heartbreak, not even close XD

I think we've always been the same in terms of things lost, but society's instead built little walls to separate us. I can relate, in my own way. I was hurt a long, long time ago, more than three years ago, but I still feel that lack of esteem following me around, like a ghost. Fulfillment, once taken away, never really heals itself properly again. At least, that's what I've learned.

this song makes me think of a lonely girlfriend.. ignored in his presence. so in love.. so addicted to him... abandoned from his heart... she tosses away all morals-dignity for him to notice her... she loses her mind trying to fight for someone who doesn't want her.... if only he could see into her heart.. feel the love she has for him.... but in the end... he pushes her away... very sad but honestly realistic...

I am very sure this is not about a woman thinking she is a lesbian. If a woman is a lesbian she knows before she listens to this song. I think the song means a woman has to find out who she is without considering a man into that equation. She must break free of all things and find out for herself all she needs to know about herself.
That's what I hear. Love this song....
