Van Zandt, Townes - Come Tomorrow Lyrics
Could it be the season's changin'
The winds of winter rearranging
All the leaves like fallin' queens of sorrow
Could be the freezing rain a-fallin'
Could be sad September callin'
Come tomorrow
Well, it's strange how many tortured mornings
Fell upon us with no warning
Lookin' for a smile to beg and borrow
It's over now, there is no returning
A thousand bridges sadly burning
And light the way I have to walk alone
Come tomorrow
I guess that no amount of lying
To myself will stop the crying
I guess I have to take things like they are
The facts are plain to see, it's only
That I ain't used to being lonely
Like I'm gonna be without you
Come tomorrow
Come tomorrow

Thank for lyrics ! (From France ) .
Arnaud Thomas Glad to help!
You are so right Shan, he was the greatest Singer/Songwriter ever.
Such great music !
THANKS TO WHO EVER UP LOADED THIS FOR US TO HEAR.
is there any other version? the flute is deadly ..
Despite that rather piss poor flute blowing away in the middle of the song it doesn't stop the fact that Come Tomorrow is a superb song and just look at the likes/dislikes column - 327 to Nil... Pretty comprehensive victory to Townes isn't it even with that pissing flute.
they'll come a time when a mess of people come to this song for some reason and give it a bunch of dislikes
On "Rear View Window Volume Two."
I dont think its a flute It sounds more like a recorder or a whistle [a tin whistle or a penny whistle]
When I'm happiest Townes reminds me what it feels like to know sorrow. His music doesn't always make me feel any way. But whatever feeling that may be is always heavy!
What a great find! I'm not that fond of country music, but this man might very well change all that. Why was he not a huge star?
@Dave Kelly He was a Megastar with the people who really matter, namely his contemporaries. Listen to other musicians talk about him. Check out the number of famous acts who have covered his songs. The guy is known and revered worldwide.
Dave Kelly This is beyond country music in my opinion. It's some of the best American music ever written.
Dave Kelly Steve Earle says Townes was his own worst enemy. he could have had more Fame and Fortune but every time Townes would do something to sabotage himself. he had a serious drinking problem, which is what took him to an early grave. dead at 52.
Townes is still alive though thorough his songs. I tell everyone about his music and play a few of his songs around the camp fire.
he was a poet for sure, sort of a local boy, I got to meet him once upon a time and shake his hand
so sweetly sad
I guess ----------- he did know every little thing about life .
What a song !!!
Thank you .
There just ain't no better song-writer than Townes.
damned straight Shan !
love this song but that Recorder solo is way too long and unnecessary and it's mixed terribly which is such a shame cause this is some of the finest poetry every written and then it's placed over a great melody but that solo takes a lot of momentum from it. idk if there was someone in charge of advising him on arrangments or if it was just him doing it in which case someone should have advised him against the Recorder solo. Beautiful song I just wish there was an unaccompanied version out there.
His producer (I've forgotten the name) got carried away with all his studio albums, they are notoriously over-produced, your best bet for a "clean" version is finding a live recording. Townes himself supposedly didn't care much for the end product, he considered himself first and foremost a songwriter from what I've gathered from interviews etc. Undoubtedly one of the greatest songwriters too.
On "Rear View Mirror Volume Two" there is a live version with a beautiful guitar instead of the recorder. Not on Youtube.
I like it.
So true, great song smith.
Lovely dear Dan
Best thing about Townes was that he never became HUGELY commercially successful thereby losing his touch with the common folk. Yet his peers, EmyLou, Steve
Earle, Willie, even Springsteen point to him as one of the greatest songwriters/singers ever
Townes Van Zandt "Live at the old quarter" is the best album /cd ever made by any artist in any genre any style any format any way shape or form period hands down or hands up till every cow that ever was returns to any home they came from and all the fat ladies + some skinny ones and the ones that are just big boned sing all at once
vnme nme You REALLY made your point. And I agree.
I've got every album/cd he ever put out tell me how and I'll upload or send them to you
vnme nme Would love to hear that if the offer still stands .. thank you either way ...and Thank you Tonwnes
Wow. I just found out about Mr. Van Zandt and he's amazing. Everything I listen to is great.
Love it.
My favourite song of his, simple, elegant, beautiful...
just his usual ... beautiful !
