Van Morrison - Wasted Years Lyrics
Wasted years been brainwashed by lies
Oh yes I have
Oh wasted years
I'm talking about wasted years
Oh I'm not seeing eye-to-eye
Wasted years, baby
I was taking the wrong advice
I know you was, I know you was
And I was too
All alone I'm travelling
Travelling through these wasted years
For so long, so long, so long I was
Oh, I must have gained some wisdom
Down through the years I did
Somewhere along the way
Thet's why there can't be no more
No more
No more wasted years today
I got wise, I got wise to myself
Well baby the great sadness
Oh, you've got to let it all go
Oh yeah, oh yeah Van
Live in the present
Live in the future John Lee, ain't that so
Oh, it's a sad feeling, oh yeah
Oh, you've gotta find something
To carry you through, carry you through,
carry you through
I've learned my lesson
I ain't gonna do it no more, yeah
Now Van
Now John
I've learned my lesson
I should have a long time ago
That's right
All these wasted years, wasted years
I finally woke up and got wise
I ain't gonna be, ain't gonna be no fool no more
Now Van, now Van
Ain't gonna be nobody's body's fool no more
Sing the song Van, sing it with me
Well all alone, all alone I've been travelling
Yeah
Travelling all along through these wasted years
Dark, dark wasted years
So dark here
Dark, dark, dark, dark wasted years
I must have gained something
Yeah
Oh travelling along the lonely way
Yeah, I've learned a lesson
I'm gonna make damn sure baby, make damn sure
There's no more wasted years today

Amazing. Van is still my favourite.

Gotta say I look up to ya for your grace and humble commitment, Jill.
before June said to me "be careful ...i will carry you "
picking up the pieces everyday, every month, and yes many wasted years . ✌
June and I share that June but we Love had LOVE
Nice song - but for me, hookers constant intrusions into the vocal spoil it. Sacrilige? sure if you like. Truth? you know im right.....
john marcus Some of them, yes. But then, which song needs more than Van?
I guess you never really meet john
I got here from Iron Maiden. What an incredible song!
perfection
i dont need to "listen" to any other music other than vans. never plays a song the same twice, teaches me enough to not need any other music. wounder if any 20 years olds today else feels the same..
+Ian Times yup. If you do wanna listen to something new, JJ Cale, Albert King, John Lee Hooker and Ray Charles have much the same mindset, and are just as talented.
Ian, I completely agree with you. I got into van when I was 16, now I am 40. I never get bored of Van's best songs and could play them repeatedly until the end of time; this song is an example. I love Bach and Mahler like there is no tomorrow, but if I had to sit on an island with forever more Van would be the man. He is a friend and the passing of time does not chAnge that.
Ian Times Likewise. I have searched in vain for anyone like him. I'll be very sad when I can no longer see him live.

I started listening to Van at 17 with Here Comes The Night. I'm now 68 and have a deeper appreciation of his musical genius. I have always come back to his music, he's timeless.
The lyrics of this song fit several things going on in my life right now. I'm so glad I found it and right before bed time. It's beautiful and a perfect message for all of us. What a great reminder as well to learn to live in the now.
Wise words Van I love it.
makes the hair on the back of my neck stand..awesome..
Thank you to the owner of the video for sharing with us. May the force of nature be with you for being unselfish.....thank you kindly....
Wow...wow....thank you god for giving us music and great musicians to play it...
Irvin, you make me sad again and again. I am only 38 but i am feeling so bad for not having a chance to see BB King and Bobby Blue Blend, VM and JLH. Just like you i wish i could have been able to see these two greats in concert. I think i would not have been able to sleep for days before that concert anxiously waiting for that day to come.
I wish I could have have been able to see these two greats in concert....
This tune with Van and John Lee gives me great buzz!
ethan i did the wrong by you now i have no hart. i am a lost sole
I get goose bumps listening to this. It's just beyond words...

Two legends for the price of one.......how can you lose?.......both these guys know more about meeting life head on than any other 2 musicians I have ever listened to...and I have listened to a lot!!

It's the story of my life this song, everything seems to fit in my life like the song tells.thanks for posting it I was looking for it for years and no I found it.
