Van Morrison - Here Comes The Night Lyrics

Oooh, here it comes
Here comes the night
Here comes the night
Whoa, whoa, whoa, oh-yeah

I can see right out my window
Walkin' down the street my girl with another guy
Arms around her like it used to be with me
Oh, it makes me wanna die

Hey, well here it comes
Here comes the night
Here comes the night
Whoa-oh-oh-yeah

I can see him turning down the lights
Now he's holdin' her the way I used to do
Used to do, used to do

I can see her talkin' 'round an' tellin' them lies
Exactly like she told me, too
Whoa, here it comes
Here comes the night
Here comes the night
Whoa-oh-oh-yeah
Well

[Instrumental]

Oh, there they go
It's funny how they look so good together
Wonder what is wrong with me?
Why can't I except the fact
She's chosen him and simply let them be?
Let them be

Well, here it comes
Good God, here comes the night
Here comes the night
Lonely, lonely, lonely, night

Give it to me lonely
Give it to me lonely

Give it to me lonely
Give it to me lonely

Tellin' me I'm lonely
Tellin' me the lone
The lonely, lonely night

Give it to me lonely
Give it to me lone
Give it to me lone
Give it to me lonely

I will be alone
Give it to me lone
Tell in me the lonely nights

Here comes the night
Oh-whoa-whoa-oh, yeah-yeah

Love the raw power and emotion. The lead break is killer. Simple, direct, right on point. Hate the homogenized, over-produced crap out today.

    T.... M....

I believe it was a young Jimmy Page as a session player playing guitar for this recording...4 years before Zeppelin.
    Correct me if I'm wrong

'Here Comes the Night' was THEM's second hit in 1965, charting at No.2 in the UK, and No.24 in the US. For the guy who called this good chorus/bad verse, this was classic angst Rock & Roll in 65, some of the better stuff written. Each era has it's own style, and this was it in the late 50's to mid 60's. Viewed by today's more professional standards, it looks pretty juvenile now. Radio was the highway that the culture traveled on at the time, every age and generation getting on and off at will. That's all there was, there was virtually no other public media then. FM & stereo were almost new, a lot of folk did not have TV, and most still had B&W TV. Lucky me, I lived all my teen years in the 60's, and I would trade all my tomorrows to go back to that time.

    J.... S....

I would too, as long as I knew what mistakes not to make.

    J.... S....

Wish I had the honor of growing up in this era.

    J.... S....

John Smith excellent take. Bad verse, yes. Great chorus...exactly...

This has to be one of my favorites of all times. Reminds me of my teenage years growing up in northern michigan in the early-mid 60s on the shore of lake michigan. Night time was our time! And all those good looking girls from the Chicago area that summered up here...Life was GOOD!!

In Vietnam troops assigned to night ops. would play this song while cleaning weapons and preparing for when the sun went down ----and the night belonged to the VC.

    J.... P....

It's fucked up that you can't even listen to a song you've liked forever & have reflections of fun times or friends enjoying a time together instead of the very saddest and tragic times of a world you never wanted to be put into in the first place. God bless you and all of the entire allied forces who made the sacrifices you did. Thank you sir and God Bless America.
