Van Morrison - Bags Under My Eyes Lyrics
Well the road just lets me down
Got to get off this merry-go-round
Got to move on from this town
Jet lags coming down
Bags under my eyes
When am I gonna get wise?
Stop these bags under my eyes
Hotels and cities filled with noise
And the road is getting so old
Back in the seventies, I'm told
But I'm still out here on the go
And I got bags under my eyes
When am I gonna get wise?
I got bags under my eyes
Meanwhile everybody's doing just fine
That I helped way down the line
Now that it's payback time
I just want to get what's mine
I just had to realize
When I listen to so many lies
Well I guess it's no surprise
I've got bags under my eyes
Makin' money is all very well
But if you end up like an empty shell
Who's gonna comfort you then?
When things ain't going so well
How are you going to win
When you're in the shape you're in?
Baby, when are you gonna get wise?
Stop these bags under your eyes
I got bags under my eyes
Bags under my eyes
When am I gonna get wise?
Stop these bags under my eyes
When when when am I gonna get wise?
Stop these bags under my eyes
When when am I gonna get wise?
Stop these bags under my eyes
When am I gonna get wise?
I got bags under my eyes

Sounds a bit like Don Gibson & Charlie Rich
When you get old you can't get rid of them, except for surgery.
This is a "Tongue in cheek " tune, written with Willie in mind
you just cant improve PERFECTION !
You've got bags under your eyes because you are dysfunctional human being so loaded with mistrust, so loaded with paranoia, so loaded with self-containment that you cannot exit yourself and enter the world of discourse. You originated some of the most profound insights into the human soul, you delved into the romanticism of the greatest poets and re-exposed their words; yet you remain utterly, and completely incapable of engaging with the rest of humanity. Wake up, and stop being a prick.
Tony Philpott . Get some therapy. With meds. Honestly you need help.
That's the price paid for genius.
I think you’re out of touch Tony. On a different wavelength. Listen to Days Gone By...I don’t hear a prick, I hear wise, loving, humanity.
@PlumMystic I have grown up listening to him. He is the anthem of my life. I love his music, my adult daughters love his music. I was separating the man from his music in my comment. That was all. Even if he still creates wonderful things, it doesn't alter the fact that he is a dysfunctional human being. And it makes me wonder how even MORE amazing his output would be if he were less paranoid and more engaging.
@PlumMystic You focused on the word "prick" You didn't focus on what I said about the profundity of his work. The man's a genius lyricist, but he is utterly incapable of engaging with other human beings. I know this, because I met him.
Yep,dead right Van, fame has eaten your soul.
Yep yep and yep. Marco
