Left. Someone made a good point in saying this song sounds like it was written before he left, because I could imagine it being a great song, but the new guy just doesn't work with it. Not that he works with any of the other songs either, band is basically dead without Sly.

At least it doesn't sound boring like the last album. Oh, it's just the begginig what's interesting.

The new singer becomes quite a minor problem once you realize 3:48-4:07 sounds like a tribute to Enrique Iglesia's "Bailando" (listen for yourselves: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NUsoVlDFqZg from 2:05 to 2:16).

This song was probably written before Sly's departure. I think that's why it sounds so off. This song wasn't meant for the new guy's style. My opinion, anyways.

I'll wait and see (or rather hear ;) how things develop. Maybe it's just that I'm used to Sly's voice, and changes can require some time, but Hagen's singing just doesn't 'work' for me here at all :/

Sorry. The new singer might be good - but does not fit. It sounds very flat. You need someone with different voice. Deeper and more powerful.

This is terrible in comparison to older stuff. New guy isn't a good fit and they really downplayed the instrument vocalizations that the band is known for so you pretty much only hear the drumset.

Findet euch erstmal zusammen und irgendwann machts klick und dann läufts :D Höre jetzt seit Anfang an Van Canto und werde es auch immer hören. Großartiges Arrangement, wenn ich das so unprofessionell sagen darf.
Habe bis auf diesen Song, noch nichts weiter neues gehört, daher auch nur eine "unfertige" Meinung:
Es macht wieder wirklich Laune Van Canto zu hören und es brennt vor Vorfreude in meinen Ohren, mehr zu hören. (Ja, das Album ist bestellt.)
Leider gibt es eine Kleinigkeit, die mir, wenn ich mir die Playlist anschaue, etwas aufstößt. ... Kann es sein, dass es keine "richtig guten Songs" mehr gibt, die Van Canto veredeln kann? Das Beste wurde schon "genutzt" und was ich so lese ... naja.
Aber egal. Platten/Scheiben/Downloads kaufen. Konzerte besuchen und feiern! ;)

Ehrlich gesagt weiß ich nicht was die Kritik soll. Die Band ist anders besetzt und es ist klar, dass die Musik auch anders klingt als vorher. Hagens Stimme passt - meiner Meinung nach - hervorragend zu Ingas.
Mir gefallen die neuen Lieder sehr gut.
Wem die neuen Songs nicht gefallen, der braucht sie sich ja auch nicht anzuhören.

Well, i was about to comment something along the lines of loosing power of the power metal, but....
This is big change for Van Canto and if we compare this album to their first one. It's not that bad. It has it's moments and songs and all together it is better then A Storm To Come album. Basicly comparing the beginning with the new beginning. And the bonus orchestral songs are quite neat. Almost feels like 2 different albums.

Do you really call this metal? I tell them that they make good vocal riffs so that they bother to put a real drum if everything is vocal ... it was just the same as a vocal battery ..

I have never actually heard of this band before but I love them.

New guy is flat, off tempo, and his voice actually cracks a few times. He'd making a decent backup, but he doesn't seem to have the range or power needed to carry a band like this. There's a certain lack of presence as well; not just audibly, but physically, like he doesn't really know what to do out there and isn't super into it.

It feels bad to say that, really bad, as Van Canto is a great band, but Sly was the voice that stood out among all the others. He made it all sound so lively and powerful... It's like Rammstein without Till or Nightwish without Tarja - not the music that I loved so much. I hope you guys enjoy what you're doing, good luck to you.

As much as I love this group, I have to agree with the majority of the comments here, the new singer's voice just doesn't work for me. Its nowhere near as powerful as Sly's was. He sounds like he's 3 steps away from straining a vocal chord. He's a decent singer in his own right, but wrong for this group. Please bring Sly back.

Sly CANT come back? He left for personal reasons. He wasn't kicked. I doubt his personal reasons for leaving will suddenly just clean themselves up and allow him back in!

@Vermont Vampyre I dont know the reasona behind Sky's departure but I understand. I'm certainly not knocking the new guy. His voice is good but he's used to singing a certain style and he doesnt do well with the melodic style of Van Canto. They would have to write music to match his guttural screamo like vocals and hed shine but itd have to be balanced with Inge's voice to really be Van Canto. All of these songs sound like they were originally written with Sly in mind. And he came along after the fact. Maybe next album will be more worthy of his vocal style.

Guys, i get it... Hagen´s voice is not as powerful as sly´s in certain terms. But Hagen brings strong growls and lower voice ranges to the pallet. This opens up a new range of opportunities for songs. If you don´t like Hagel´s voice, listen to the gold that Van Canto delivered over the years. A storm to come, Hero, Tribe of force (my fav so far), Break the silence, Voices of fire and Dawn of the brave.

What is this?! Hagen sounded epic in Voice Nr 7, but here his voice is overshadowed by Inga's. It gets better towards the end of the song, but whoever did the mix needs to go back and do it properly.

New guy isn't a bad singer, but his voice doesn't blend well with the rest of the band's voices. It's kinda off-putting because before all the voices blended so well and just naturally fit together but still had their own unique sound. If this guy is gonna be sticking around then maybe the music should be made to fit his range and style better. Otherwise, his voice just sticks out way too much.

I just loved the previous vocalists voice too much, it is a hard change to get used to. The song isn’t bad though, but nothing groundbreaking.
