Used, The - Wake The Dead Lyrics
This is not natural
A bunch of holes where the dead used to be underground
Forget supernatural 'cause all those resting in peace are out walking the streets
Yeah with no heartbeat
An empty hole in your chest where your heart used to beat
Does this mean what I think it means?
Just how could both you and me be about as dead as we could be
Yeah with no heartbeat
Take a walk with me, Walk with the dead
'Cause you knew that we had to die sometime
Well darling, Tonight could be
Let your voice shred miles of diamond skies
Well darling tonight could be a beautiful night to die
Across the sky they can hear you on the other side
A scream that's loud enough to wake the dead
All alone you bought tickets for the nightmare as you wake the dead.

Used, The Wake The Dead Comments
Darling, tonight could be a beautiful night to die! Fuck it you’re dead!!!
A scream that’s loud enough to wake the dead!
Man I was listening to this for the first time earlier today, and I had gotten myself some milk toward the end of the song…as I was drinking it, I heard that weird noise and thought there was something wrong with me 😂
Lol I'm revisiting their music so this isn't my first time listening but I noticed your username and glad to know I'm not the only killjoy around here listening to these guys too 😁 I got here from pretty handsome awkward lol
@Leslie R same. I noticed the name too and was like "hello fellow killjoy"
Leslie R Oh hey! Sorry I didn’t see this till just now, seems YouTube doesn’t give me half of my reply notifications anymore. And I’m just going through their albums one by one because I’d heard a lot about them. So I gave them a shot and now I’m a casual fan
ShadøwArt hello
This song sounds like FOB and (earlier)NYD got squished into one band.
The chorus is great but... who the fuck okayed those verses?
Lies for the Liars gets way too much undeserved hate. This song is a major highlight of their entire discography. Fantastically composed, very odd in some places, the drums in the intro are very unusual (while still sticking to common 4/4 time), the lyrics are dark and very interesting, and Bert's voice in the bridge, especially the way he sings "a beautiful night to die" the second time right before screaming his guts out. I love it.
First listen I so wasn't down with the bridge, then the part you describe hit and it all pulled back together epic like
Evil Ernie :D
Great song from a really cool album. Wake the dead! Fuck it you're dead!
One of the weirder but also amazing used tracks. Love it
This needs more likes and comments
"Wake the dead. FUCK IT!! You're dead." i fucking love that line so fucking much.
This is my favorite song from Lies For The Liars! It's weird to me that I can't seem to find many covers or renditions of this song.
Anyway The Used is one of my favorite bands and I love the way they've evolved with every album =)
Never been much further than "the bird and the worm" but just ran the album through and can agree with you there. This song hits it
Uploaded over a year ago and I’m the first comment. Must be a reason for that.
