Love the old U2 that was driven by loud drums and thumping bass, and Bono's angry voice. Sadly now theyre an overproduced replica of themselves with Bonos ego front and center.

I read these comments, and I get frustrated. These guys opened my eyes to post punk in 1981, hell, maybe 1980. Their first 5 albums are masterful. From there it is a natural progression for post punk. Minutemen, Bad Brains, Husker Du. U2 lost me somewhat after Joshua Tree, but their contribution can never be underestimated.

I always thought punk was bullshit, although "God Save The Queen" by the Pistols was fun. I was glad punk made musicians more ambitious. And yes, I know all of the bands I just mentioned were around at roughly the same time, but you guys get the perspective, yes?

i bought war for two songs that were on it. started listening to the rest of the album and fell in love with this one the most. might be my favorite u2 song of all time now

Find a copy of the REMASTERED VIDEO of U2 @ Red Rocks (includes 4 previously unseen vids incl. 'Twilight' which was criminally left off the 1st release of the vid). Most of the songs from Boy, October, and War albums.
IMHO, THAT concert was the Zenith of the entire career of U2. After 'War', their 'Joshua Tree' album 'elevated' them to 'Serious Artist' status which immediately cost them their souls which are still to this day parked at The Joshua Tree waiting to be reuinited with their individual hosts. Their GENUINENESS and the excitement was forevermore gone.

I listen to all there early albums at work , they are doing a Joshua Tree tour this year . I would love a WAR album Tour .
Although i have got tickets for Twickenham JT Tour and i cant wait .
