(see https://www.loudersound.com/features/the-story-behind-devin-townsend-ocean-machine) "The record closes with Thing Beyond Things, all echoing vocals and dark imagery, moving towards the conclusion that when you examine life’s triumphs and trials hard enough, they become almost abstract components of a vast existence. “It summarises the record by saying through all this, through all of the ups and downs, and the crests and ebbs and flows of this ocean even, it doesn’t really matter,” says Devin. “It’s all just things.”

When he did the Ocean Machine show at Hammersmith in London, he broke down in tears after the final scream. It was a wonderfully memorable moment having been through an emotional journey playing some things he'd never played live before and revisiting his past. I'll never forget it.
The wave of emotion that hit me when he hit the scream is hard to describe, but I do know that it was good. Thank you for uploading these, my man.

Pre-ordered the DVDs, couldn't handle it. Ocean Machine come to life, so amazing that he could write, perform, and then outperform himself. The chills just dont stop :)

@Mee Thanks! I was pretty certain it was, but you can never be too sure in this day and age.
Jacob From what I can tell by listening to it many times, it’s definitely live, but it is layered on top of the original scream and has a lot of effects on it. He does hit a crazy high note, but I can’t seem to pitch it. My guess is that the original scream was intended to sit at the A5 pitch, but it cracked and trailed up to the G#6 by accident. It was most likely just a fluke and it’s unlikely he’d be able to recreate that if he wanted to.
