They took it off of the album to respect Jeff, because he didn't like his drumming on it, or the song in general, really

I love this song so much!! I had heard Jeff didn't like his drumming on this song, but I love it. Plus Luke singing it, just makes it even better!! TOTO really ROCKS on this song.

Latin - all encompassing

It's powerful.

It was taken off the CD of respect for Jeff Porcaro after he died, because he did not like the song or his drumming on it. I don't know why, because he plays it really well, and the song is cool! The first pressing of the CD has the song, but taken away from the second pressing...

In a Japanese magazine called "Young Guitar" Luke talks about "Kick Down the Walls" (November 1992):

I've known Danny for a long time. He always said to me "why are you doing something that you don't want to do?". One day, Jeff came to the rest of the band saying "This is a song we must do!" and he made us listen to "Kick Down the Walls". The original version was more rough, but we made it into our own version. The song is interesting in the sense that it was written about the streets of L.A., and it was written even before the L.A. Riot. My house is on the hill, so I remember "overseeing" the fire and the riot from high above.....

For this song, Danny himself came to us and said he wanted to produce it, so we had him produce the song. That's why it sounds different from the rest of the album. For me, it's a song that I like the least... but that's a secret... (laughs).

What's not to like?

I am so lucky to have the version of the CD that contains this rocker.

@mrmusic 248 I found another copy of the CD with the song on it and I was really happy about it because this is one of my all-time favorite total songs it's just a great Groove a great driving song definitely I couldn't imagine why Jeff didn't like it

Jeff porcaro is the best drummer of the world!

Dang...nobody writes tunes like this anymore...groove x1000.  Note the classic M Jackson keyboard sound at the beginning...THANK YOU TOTO for that, Michael Jackson. (for those who do not know TOTO was the band on Thriller for many tunes)...most talented band ever...period...end of conversation.  Just is what it is.  :)

I really like this. It got no radio play and as a result I never heard it in the car while commuting to work. Too bad because the groove is great. What a testament to the super group that is Toto! Thanks,

Totally agree with you. In my CD version, I haven't this song. But, Kick Down The Walls is on the CD of one of my friend :( !
