I sorry I lied. I said I've only expressed myself without premeditation to one other woman. Actually it's two. I went to meet a "professional" that I was going to pay 50$ just to talk to me. I was hustled by a man pretending to be a pump and I couldn't help but laugh out loud. Nevertheless I was disappointed because I had made numerous efforts to even get that far so I preceded in my normal way of escape and went to a bar where the lovely in every way bartender allowed me after being told what I was doing to express my desire to give and receive love. This is actually two lies I've also said I never cheated on my girlfriend at the time and I absolutely did. My number one promise in everything is not to lie ever. I just broke that twice. Once I guess and just truely realized another in trying to be honest with you. See I'm not perfect either it's ok if don't want to tell anybody 😎

This video has been out for a while, but I do have to say that it makes me very happy to see one of my favorite humans continuing to be the gorgeous inspirational person she's been as long as I've been lucky enough to enjoy her presence. I'm a big fan of the early age of Tori's music and lyrics. I am just sharing my point of view here : I lost the connection with her essence. What was deep before is now superficial to me. It is perfectly performed but no vibration is coing out of the interpretation. I feel technic, no deep vibration. Even the lyrics went more poor...
When I hear this song I miss Tori a lot.

sounds like it didn't pay enough attention to her early work to really understand how important this 3 minute harmless, pop song really is. it got a long history

Just...wow.

This doesn't have the right 'feels'. The way they are behaving (eye gazing, interlocked fingers), some of the lyrics (singing 'light of my life', 'will you / I will be there' over and over again), are more appropriate as the way romantic partners behave. Tori, I think, is a little too needy emotionally and psychologically. It is like she is filling an emptiness for romantic-sexual love and conflating that with maternal love for a (now grown-up) child . After all she does often speak of the difficulties she has in her marriage, and I think her neediness (and probably a very romantic nature) caused her to attach a vast amount of importance to her marriage, which cannot live up to her expectations after all those years married when the fires, devotion and deep fulfilment will die down.

Alternatively, the song and behaviours might have been a little more appropriate if the girl had still been young. Now that the child is an (near) adult it really doesn't not look or feel right. And yes, I accept that families each behave differently (e.g. some more touchy-feeling, lovey-dovey, etc that others) but I still cant shake the feeling that Tori is offloading her needs onto her daughter, projecting (if you will) the emptiness she feels elsewhere in her life. Let alone allowing all of this to influence her to write what is, to all intents and purposes, a pretty vapid sickly-sweet song, which is WAY below her skill and artistic level.

I don't know. I might be wrong entirely. It just doesn't feel like a healthy appropriate expression of maternal love to me.

No doubt Tori must be one of the greatest Mama's to ever have walked the Earth.

I've been a fan since Pele and have seen Tori 7 times in concert, I think it's a beautiful song and love how the lyrics go back and forth.. I understand this bc I've a daughter myself but I do agree that the past 3 albums have not captured me like the others. It's definitely a different type of Tori on last 3 albums, but as a fan of long time I will always buy any album she puts out.

I love this song.....I have a very strong relationship with my parents.....as a gay man, I was lucky to be blessed with accepting and supportive parents and I appreciate them for the life that I was allowed to have.....this song makes me cry.....I cry for the love that I was given and I also cry for those that didn't get the love they needed.

As an ENORMOUS Tori fan since I discovered "Cornflake Girl" during my middle school days in the mid-90s (boy, did she and Alanis help me find my voice!)
