Found this beautiful, innocent, sweet song today while channel surfing! Really put me in the mood for summer---and romance (lol). It's a "feel good" song! Wish there were songs like that recorded today!
Great music.
i just bought this record and randomly stumbled upon this beautiful track. 00:22 00:35 is my favorite part. Used it a beat i made!
lost 70's song forgotten even by Sirius XM
Heard it on a local station----Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada!
Start of song borrows from Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow? but then changes.
I always liked the photos of Joyce, Telma and Tony. They were always holding hands or holding on to each other. Looked like there was a lot of love for each other. I love the song Summer Sand, they just don't make music like this anymore.
+stephen dwyer ...and how much did she make? Is there a video describing HER success? No. I didn;t think so.
love that song sslly
"Perhaps all creatures are very much more than what they seem. The tree has its roots; the iceberg only shows its tip. Perhaps we are all much more even than we know. So, while the meanest peasant lives in misery here, he may be elsewhere in triumph, making the very stars."
Outstanding....overlooked....underrated....but not here....
I agree!
I love It!! Paul Grado.
I wish some hot movie director would use this prominently in a film. Maybe it would hit like it should have the first time.
I do my part. I always include it on compilations I make for people, summer songs comps, Dawn best-ofs, etc.
MetFan37 I feel it would fit in a Tarantino film
This should have been a bigger hit--one of my FAVORITES!
What a "summer" song! So innocent + beautiful!
Tonight I'm yours
And you are mine, now
But is it love
Or just summertime, now?
Ooh, the time is right, come hold me tight
Let's grab onto the love that we can borrow
And let's not hang each other up
With words that we'll forget about tomorrow
'Cause the things we write in the summer sand
The "I love you's" and the future plans
Disappear, slip right through your hand
Like this warm soft bed of summer sand
You got someone
And so do I, now
Our hearts are locked in
So why should we lie, now?
Bathe with me in harmony
Let's sing our summer song and sing it sweetly
For we can't stop the autumn wind that blows away
The summer sand completely
Yes, the things we write in the summer sand
The "I love you's" and the future plans
Disappear, slip right through your hand
Like this warm soft bed of summer sand
Oh, the time is right, come hold me tight
Let's grab onto the love that we can borrow
And let's not hang each other up
With words that we'll forget about tomorrow
'Cause the things we write in the summer sands
The "I love you's" and the future plans
Disappear, slip right through your hand
Like this warm soft bed of summer sand
Things we write in the summer sands
The "I love you's" and the future plans
Disappear, slip right through your hand
Like this warm soft bed of summer sand
even before i discovered diamond and neil's music hooked me for life -tony and dawn was speaking to this lovestruck and usually love sick kid lol
evoked a deep love of early dawn ..before dawn actually existed ..i know you know the story .candida -this one --two of my favorites ,though i loved all their early stuff .thanks for writing this.
Once again--It's a good feeling to know our music evocked the spirit in so many of you . I respect Angelo Bruno's remarks too, although this tune does have a haunting thing about it. I still come here and listen to myself every now and then.LRussell Brown
The part in the chorus where Tony sings " like this warm soft bed of summer sand" is just about note for note similar to a TV commercial jingle from I believe the 80's.Just can't think of the product right now but I think it was some kind of snack food.
sumptious. should be remembered along with their huge hits
Jesus loves you more than you could ever know! :)
Great! Thanks for posting! :) God bless! Jesus loves you!
Their best....IMHO....!!!!
A great song to kick off the summer!
love this song Awesome
Thids great song should have been released here in the UK.
Hard to believe this song is more than 40 years old! It really takes me back...always one of my favorites of theirs but it wasn't one of their biggest. I really enjoyed the video, thank you for this!
Very good song....they don't make them like this anymore....
to me not one of their best ... it didnt hit me like what r u doin sunday, which i wish he would sing...this one aint no knock 3 times or candida, but i respect the memories it brings back 2 people
Me too. Thi song brings back so many memories.
My favorite Dawn song ever! Brings back sweet memories of the Summer of '71. Shoulda been a much bigger hit!
Great song!!
One of my favorite Dawn tunes. I see that the writer, L Russel Brown made a comment about it a few months ago. You and Irwin Levine were great writers. Thanks for all those fantastic memories of growing up in the 70's. That music was the best!!
I saw Tony Orlando and Dawn in March 1976 at the Carolina Coliseum in Columbia, SC. The show was delayed due to an ankle injury to Joyce. Her ankle was taped up and she was toted out and placed on a stool, where she remained for the entire concert. Despite this, it was still a good show.
love it ! in the summer sand - sooo great thanks for posting !
Happy music !!!
Tony Orlando is some kind of wonderful !
This song always makes me feel so good I cry.......................
even 40 years on
great song ...that really takes me back to better times
This song and "What Are you Doing Sunday?" are great songs. It's sort of strange that they stalled on the charts. They were very similar to "Candida" and "Knock Three Times", and IMO should have been as big as those two songs were
One of those songs that have been stuck in my head for about 40 years. Wonderful memoriaes. Thanks, monkeego!
this song made #19 cashbox
This is the first time I've heard this - it's a great song which should have been released as a single here in the UK. Thanks for sharing :D
This songs brings back so many memories. Most of them are about the sweetness and innocence of being young and navie.
There are times I wish I could have those innocent days back.
think they where touring UK at the time of this release so it never got the proper push but its one of my favs from the early days. it did make #7 on the AC CHARTS
My favorite song by Dawn. It never got the airplay it deserved. Thanks so much for posting!!
One of their best songs ever. Make me miss the 70's :(
Great song from Tony Orlando. Still remember this song. The arrangement far greater than Candids & Knock 3 times -their first major hits. But love all of them.
I first heard this song on a jukebox at the beach. It is a great song that is rarely played.
wonderful song from one of my 2 favorite singers --thanx
great tony o song.thanks
