Tony Bennett - We'll Be Together Again Lyrics
No tears, no fears
Remember, there's always tomorrow
So what if we have to part
We'll be together again
Your kiss, your smile
so try thinking with your heart
We'll be together again
Times when I know you'll be lonesome
times when I know you'll be sad
don't let temptation surround you
don't let the blues make you bad
Some day, some way
we both have a lifetime before us
for parting is not goodbye
We'll be together again

Tony Bennett We'll Be Together Again Comments
What a gorgeous tune - thank you to Carl T. Fisher and Frankie Laine. Written in 1945 - and beautifully rendered here by the inimitable Bill Evans. Love that break ...and the way he brings the tune back to Bennett for the last verse...which is quite quirky to my ear... refreshing!
This was the song that played during the last episode of LOVE OF LIFE in 1980. So very apropo.
When I hear this, my moments are alteted for a while.
This song was used for the Love of Life finale!
This version was used during the closing credits of the final episode of the soap opera LOVE OF LIFE in1980.
I love info like that!
This is Art Song...
If the French Impressionists had written Jazz, it would have sounded like this.
(And this wise, rueful-yet-positive lyric was written by Frankie "Rawhide" Laine.)
Perfectly describes my emotions...rueful...positive
Thank you
one day with my Jennifer... again!
Nick, how right you are! Props to Tony for having the confidence in his ability to partner with Evans. It goes to show that when we surround ourselves with people who are great at what they do, we are that much better. Tony's recordings with Bill are the only ones he made with a singer I listen to. I would much prefer to hear Bill "sing" alone. Bill Evans loved these songs he made with Tony and made quite an effort to call him and talk to him, just a few weeks before he passed away.
Thank you Maggie. I know Tony lists these two albums with Bill among the very best he has ever recorded.
What singer couldn't rise to exalted heights when accompanied by the Master?
Tony more then held his own on this recording. A better question is: What other singer would have the guts and ability to record with just a brilliant pianist and sing as great as Tony does?
I had this record album and played it so many times and loved it so much. My late brother in law who could not defeat his own demons introduced me to these two and many great jazz musicians and singers. I miss him a lot.
Too bad Bill could not defeat his demons. Too bad to lose such a piano jazz master way too soon. So sad.
mágico encuentro!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This, dear friends, is a prime example of pure, musical, poetry.
I spend so much time taking in garbage these days, my jazz ears are completely fuzzy at this stage in my life. I might need to cop this record, so clean and perfectly executed.
Maravillosa en todo sentido; la letra, la música, y estos dos GENIOS!!! Que más se puede pedir!!!
Yes, perfection
This is perfection. Great song, great pianist and Tony Bennett at his best.
Yes, it's a Frankie Laine song. I'm glad someone caught that. But it's the Four Freshman's version that I'll always remember.
Correct......Frankie Laine....hard to believe he wrote such an amazing piece of music....it's like Gershwin or Cole Porter's work BUT it's Frankie's....wonderful.
Frankie only wrote the lyric though. The music was composed by pianist Carl Fischer. ;)
Seemingly so easy for these two. Tony would often say his goal was simple. "Every song I sing must be done well. No exceptions". He and Mr Evans are simply exceptional!
The finest singer in the world with the greatest and most innovative pianist. It is indeed perfection and nothing less.
Bravo. Well spoken.
@LazlosPlane Thank you!
I second the emotion . . . .
+Martin Platt Thank you, I think so too.
Agreed!
Perfection
The finest piece of music ever recorded......in my humble opinion.
some end of the year music for friends and family.
Yes, end of seasons
2 of my favorites. Thank you for posting this!
Simply beautiful music
eye sockets ruined for now...
This is a masterpiece of a song composed by Carl Fischer [music] and the great Frankie Laine[lyrics] and released in 1945, and has since been covered by well over 100 other artists.
but beautiful
トニー・ベネットのデュオは近年数多あるけど,このビル・エヴァンスとの崇高さはやはり類を見ないナ!丁寧な"We'llBeTogetherAgain" #jazzm
this melody is very sad
A nice duo for a beautiful song which is very close.
Singer Frankie Laine's lyrics for this 1945 Carl Fischer song: "No tears/No fears/Remember there's always tomorrow/So what if we have to part/We'll be together again/Your kiss/Your smile/Are memories I'll treasure forever/So try thinking with your heart/We'll be together again/Times when I know you'll be lonesome/Times when I know you'll be sad/Don't let temptation surround you/Don't let the blues make you bad/Some day/Some way/We both have a lifetime before us/For parting is not goodbye..."
in my opinion these recordings are some of bills best work his piano playing on these tracks is fabulous.great stuff from tony and bill...
