Believe it or not, she's 40 in this video. Forever and always a great beauty, amazing choreographer and dancer, incredible stylist, and more than capable singer and songwriter. I wish Chrysalis had stuck with her beyond two albums; there's no reason she couldn't have continued to come out with great songs and videos like this and perhaps recaptured some of the glory she reached with "Mickey."

saltwatercb that's because she was in her 40s. It is unlikely that radio play an act over that age. Cher is the oldest female artist to achieve a #1 in her 50s with "Believe" in 1999 and that's was an exception. Things haven't changed so much since the 80s even though now is worse

Stumbled on this...... First thing I heard when listening to this is Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean" Filter out everything except the 2 keyboard chords and the "bass" line.... you may agree.....

She is a Dance Choreographer first, the Paula Abdul time, when producers were looking at dancers to sing, which is what Abdul was, of course, a dancer who got lucky. Basil had a couple of songs but didn't have the lasting power of Abdul..

I like Paula, but Toni can sing much better than her.

I was surprised to find she was one of the two cute hippie hookers in 1969s "Easy Rider". she didn't look like she could be that old. She still doesn't! the other girl was Karen Black, but I'd take Toni.

Toni Basil is simply one of the best dancers and choreographers of modern pop dancing around. I think she's fabulous.

Before today, I was one of the unfortunate 99% of the population that only knew of her as a "one-hit-wonder" and had never heard of The Lockers before.

Wow, Toni Basil made some great songs. Listening to this makes her one hit, Mickey, look like a box of pop tarts.

Probably because this sounds like the backing music of a Gagillion long forgotten 80's movie montage scenes ....not that that's bad, but this definitely doesn't stand out ... "Mickey" Stood Out!!!! That song was SO FINE, IT literally BLEW MY MIND!!!!!

This video was way ahead of its time, but it was unfortunate that this hit didn't receive a lot of airplay and was eventually forgotten from the 80s.

Where can I find the 4 minute version of this song? The version of it at iTunes has a duration of 3:22. There is no 4 minute version that appears to exist. But I like the video version WAY better b/c it showcases Toni's AOR stuff from the early 80's.

I remember AOR radio playing this song back in the day. Sounds like 80's AOR.

@EdelaRV No problem, glad you like it. I have another copy of this vid with probably better picture quality (none of the horizontal white lines that flicker in parts of this one), but it doesn't have a complete intro or outro, and the sound dips a bit in the second half, so I went with this one for uploading to youtube.
