Tommy Roe - Sheila Lyrics

Sweet little Sheila, you'll know her if you see her
Blue eyes and a ponytail
Her cheeks are rosy, she looks a little nosey
Man, this little girl is fine

Never knew a girl like-a little Sheila
Her name drives me insane
Sweet little girl, that's my little Sheila
Man, this little girl is fine

Me and Sheila go for a ride
Oh-oh-oh-oh, I feel all funny inside
Then little Sheila whispers in my ear
Oh-oh-oh-oh, I love you Sheila dear

Sheila said she loved me, she said she'd never leave me
True love will never die
We're so doggone happy just bein' around together
Man, this little girl is fine

Never knew a girl like-a little Sheila
Her name drives me insane
Sweet little girl, that's my little Sheila
Man, this little girl is fine

Me and Sheila go for a ride
Oh-oh-oh-oh, I feel all funny inside
Then little Sheila whispers in my ear
Oh-oh-oh-oh, I love you Sheila dear

Sheila said she loved me, she said she'd never leave me
True love will never die
We're so doggone happy just bein' around together
Man, this little girl is fine

Oh, this little girl is fine
Yeah, this little girl is fine
Oh, this little girl is fine

    Genuine Classic 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

  9. M.... ....

He's lip synching to the original 1962 recording on what is I'm guessing a tv show from a much later period, I'd say late 60's or possibly even early 70's judging by the mutton chop sideburns. I read some time ago that he broke up a fight between Chis Montez (Let's Dance) and John Lennon while they were touring the UK with The Beatles in March 1963. They all get back onto the tour bus after a big party and Lennon still holding a beer, pissed as a fart, pours beer on Montez's head while he was asleep and it was on for young and old after that with poor Tommy in the middle. Lol.

They said the music died on 2 Feb. 1959. Tommy Roe revived it.

I remember stopping at the "Prairie Queen" downtown in my home town on payday of my paper route, buying a vanilla twist soft ice cream cone, and popping a nickle in the juke box to listen to this song, and others like Down in the Boondocks by Billy Joe Royale. I didn't know about the Buddy Holly connection because I was too young, but listening to this now you can definitely hear Buddy Holly's influence. Thanks for the memories.

  21. F.... H....

  24. s.... ....

Buddy Holly's career only lasted 18 months. His influence, has been around for generations. Tommy Roe,Bobby Fuller(RIP),The Beatles..All owe Buddy Holly a huge prop. Fast forward to today. Elvis Costello,Marshall Crenshaw,&Radney Foster were all inspired by Buddy Holly. He will always rave on.

  25. C.... K....

    Buddy hollly rip off

    C.... K....

    It is still quite good.

  26. J.... G....

I have always liked this song. As so many others have said, it has Buddy Holly written all over it.

I always wanted to date a girl named Sheila

  42. S.... R....

Melania - you are great for europe - not only for D.J.

  43. S.... G....

  44. K.... M....

Before Tommy sank into the bubblegum world of "Dizzy" he was a top notch Buddy Holly impersonator. This song is the proof! It's even better than some of Buddy's tracks.

  45. J.... C....

Shelia and I*. FUCK THIS SONG.

  46. H.... M....

    SHELIA ERLIC

  47. N.... 4....

what 99 trolls without a soul give a thumb down to this.. burn in hell

  48. J.... C....

    Danced to this many times.

  49. C.... E....

Pretty obviously inspired in large part by Peggy Sue, and that's no bad thing! RIP Peggy Sue Gerron.

  50. L.... n....

Wow I was 12 when this came out

  51. D.... W....

One of my all time favorite singers!

  52. J.... J....

    Underrated singer.

  53. D.... ....

The drum paradiddle, hiccupping guitar and background vocals raise this hit version above Tommy Roe's original version and the one he still does. The closer he stayed to Buddy Holly the better it became.

  54. R.... C....

I went to school with Tommy, same grade. Hey, Tommy, hope you are doing well!

  55. T.... P....

  58. G.... M....

Tommy Roe was my favorite in 68/69 when I was 9 and 10 years old. I could listen to him 24/7 back then.

  59. B.... K....

The first 45 I ever bought back when I was a youngin'!

  60. C.... J....

    The Lubbock sound!!!

  61. S.... M....

I’m only 23 but I can imagine myself in 1962 driving a ‘57 Ford Fairlane on some crager mag wheels listening to this

  62. D.... ....

Thumbs up if you ever dated a Sheila. Mine was a petite dark haired dark eyed bombshell. What a doll.

  63. M.... R....

    Einfach klasse !

  64. B.... G....

Loved it how about the folk singer

  65. S.... S....

    ❤️♥️🌹

  66. C.... A....

    double happy! love it!

  67. j.... ....

Liked this song too in 1962 and I was 12, now 67! I got a hand held "6 transistor" radio when I was 12 for Christmas and started listened to the new and exciting world of Rock and Roll music on the ONLY RnR AM station we had in Cincinnati, WSAI ! Then the later 60s came along and it was sex, drugs and RnR! Now all I have left is RnR! Owl!!!!
Of course, they say if you remember the 60s, you weren't really there! hahahahahah! JR

  68. g.... ....

    he,, try buddy, sing,!!

  69. S.... R....

I was named after this song

  70. N.... L....

Sounds like the  50's good stuff.

  71. S.... H....

This was the first record I had.

  72. I.... ....

The genius of this song is that it sounds like Buddy Holly easily could have written if you didn't know better. In my opinion, to this day, this is the best Buddy Holly song Buddy never wrote. Roe's performance is the icing. I MISS ALL the music Buddy Holly never had a chance to write through all these years. I was a 15 year old fan when he left us in 59'.

  73. M.... L....

My sister "Sheila" bought this and played the arse of it all the time I was a baby in a pram so I'm brainwashed with this song, but in a good way 😎

  74. B.... ....

За мен е на едно ниво с Peggy Sue на Buddy Holly. Приличат си.

  75. P.... V....

"influenced by the sounds of the late Buddy Holly." Bwaaaahahaha. "Influenced?" Ripped off more like it. And then he turned to bubblegum with "Dizzy."

  76. R.... A....

    Very Buddy Hollyesque

  77. A.... H....

Hey guys! I covered this song and spent a lot of time recording (it's my first cover!)

  80. L.... S....

  81. D.... ....

This vocal by Tommy Roe is so close to the vocal of Buddy Holly,it becomes obvious where his style was coming from. It's the 50s all over again.Buddy reincarnated as 60s Rockabilly Star.Great tune.

  82. L.... ....

    Hey Sheila GlennRemember our kiss?
