For those of you who did not like this concert, it might be best if you no longer take part of the human race. We can't use your genes in the pool, you would only pollute it. For the rest of you...love to you , always!

  11. C.... A....

This has become my favorite Tom Petty song. The conviction, in which he sings this hauntingly beautiful song, is visually obvious!. Such an American treasure!

  17. c.... ....

Love this song and it is the first time I have heard it.

  18. D.... S....

I wont knock 2days music but I really dont listen 2 much of it. I just happy that I was luckily enough 2 grow up with tom among many of other bands of the past. TOM love your tunes. RIP

  19. M.... S....

I'm not a southern man. In fact i'm Canadian. But I feel so touched everytime I listen to this song. For the 5 minutes as I listen to it, I feel his passion and become a southern man. Thank you Tom Petty for not just all the hits but passion and songs that bring out so many feelings.

    M.... S....

Southern is a state of mind, a way of being. The few Canadians I have met have that state of mind, especially if they grew up in rural areas.

  20. T.... S....

2 years gone. Missed horribly in a period of such crappy music.

  21. b.... j....

Wow ..I am still in denial ...I saw Tom on the Midnight Special back in the day as I was allowed to stay up late at Grandmas house ....Tom was with me most of of my life and be with me for the rest of it ..Love you Boss

  22. S.... T....

    wow, needed that today

  23. D.... M....

Seen him in Seattle on July 24,1985 when he was doing his Southern Accents Tour. Was awesome.

  24. J.... W....

    love this man,more than words.

  25. t.... ....

I'm Southern. South Australia and I so feel this song.

  26. L.... R....

An artist of the world, but of course an American who loved Florida, his momma and everyone who didn't want to royally screw him over, under, around, or in any way, for that matter. A nice guy....

  27. L.... R....

Yeah, they always call it dumb, we're all a bunch of dumbbells, lazy scumbags waiting to leech off the state, a bunch of idiots who slur our words, and are incapable of getting it right. Well, well, well....My father was a northener, but I know he loved the North, the South, the East and the West, of course.

  28. K.... M....

Mr petty, sir your a classy guy

  29. T.... D....

It will almost be two years and STILL missing Tom and the Band so much!

  33. b.... ....

This song makes me wish I had a Southern accent...

  34. L.... S....

It's sad to see people struggle when the answers are easy pickings.

  35. R.... ....

    What a band.

  36. B.... V....

An anthem for all us Southerners. Thank you Mr. Petty.

  37. B.... K....

I'm a Southern belle with a southern accent.

  38. L.... R....

Fly on, forever, you good man, fly to the sky, and screw the circus...

  39. L.... R....

God bless you Tom Petty, you were a good man, worked so hard, died young as usually the good go too soon. Here's to all your American women, especially those in your family.

  40. B.... K....

I am Southern through and through. A Southern Belle. I am not ashamed of my accent. It comes with the territory. Southern women can get their point across and hit you where you live in the most gracious way. That sums us up in a nutshell.

  41. N.... R....

Truly one of the very best singer songwriters of mine or any generation, sadly missed such a loss still hurts today as the the day we heard the terrible news RIP Tom

  42. N.... M....

Had Never seen a Tom Petty concert before, Was right across the street from where Tom was playing in Houston one night at a Paul Thorn concert, trying to decide which one I really wanted to see, I chose the Paul Thorn concert who I'd seen at least 7 times before, thinking I'll go to the T.P. one next time he comes to town, the Paul Thorn concert was great that night, but T. P. never came back to town, wish I had missed just that one of Paul's shows............

  43. I.... G....

I'm sad to say it wasn't until after Tom's passing that I became aware of just how good he was. What a talent,I'm now catching up with all his work which has the benefit of also guiding me to the Traveling Wilbury's. Sometimes we don't appreciate what we had till they're gone. RIP to another legend.

  44. K.... ....

I was four years old the first time I heard Tom Petty, it was a cold December and we went to this old movie theater in my home town to watch E. T. and I heard him over the speakers and I was blown away. Thanks Tom for the music!

  45. c.... ....

Tom Petty. The one and only Tom Petty.

  46. E.... E....

Still miss you. Thanks for the gift of your music.

  47. j.... H....

I fought inn Nam with a southern accent and love the confederacy. God bless Robert E Lee, Stonewall Jacksonn and Joe Johnson. I also want equality for all and love DT

  50. H.... S....

As a Proud Georgia Man,  I shall Morn him always!   Tom stood up to those Damn Yankees!  As did  Sweet Home Alabama,   I hope Neil Young will remember!  A Southern Man don't need him around! God Bless the South!  Georgia, the Confederacy  and the Atlanta Falcons.    I pray that the whole New England Patriots Die in a  Plane Crash!  Damn you  Tom Brady!   Paul

  51. D.... S....

    God bless tom petty.

  52. 1.... ....

I worked with this guy who was from Boston. He seemed to get a certain sick pleasure making fun of my deep southern accent, the more he made fun of it the more southern it would get. Imagine someone from Boston making fun of any bodies accent.
I pulled my truck onto the job one day plugged in my Southern Accents CD and let it rip. Since just about everybody on the job was southern and had all endured his jeers and taunts we just started singing Southern Accents or Rebel whenever he came in earshot. He soon got the message and surprisingly he learned to love the south as much as anyone from Boston could. Turned into an all right dude without the use of any violence at all. Thank you Tom RIP I know I''ll be hearing from you once again

  53. D.... M....

I discovered this song a week after my Mom passed. I was casually watching the documentary on Netflix, and suddenly found myself in a puddle of tears. Almost a year later, Tom passed. I cried again.

  54. S.... C....

This song came into my head today. I got a tattoo of the TPHB logo on the day after Tom Petty died... we had a concert of him live on a laptop and I swear, all of us were crying. Tough grown ass men and women. All of us crying ...

  55. D.... H....

i might go work Orlando if the orange groves don't freeze...

  56. M.... K....

Meaning of life, Tom, you wrote songs for us, what was in our hearts, things we never found till we listened to your songs, these songs will be for my children and their children and this one especially, just simple truth, who we are and always will be.

  57. C.... F....

Mr. Petty was truly a remarkable entertainer. In this video (and others from this concert), you can see how tired he is, and you can tell he's in pain, but he gave it all for his fans. I'm so sad I never got to see him in concert, but I'm blessed to have a great collection of his music. The world lost a beautiful soul, but his music will live on forever.

  58. d.... c....

This gentle soul eased me through years of sorrow and lifted me in times of need. He feels like an old friend stopped by to visit every time I put his music on. We used to play a game at get togethers where you had to name “ most”.......like “ most underrated group “. I always named Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers! Truly did not receive the kind of accolades they deserved. In a way, it’s okay, because his fans have followed him for most of their lives, a rare statement of homage to any artist! Bless you Tom, and thank you for enriching my life. Greatness never dies, it simply becomes part of the universe.

  59. C.... M....

Gainesville, Florida's own Tom Petty! And those of us, FROM here, definitely have a Southern drawl.

  60. M.... C....

    There's a dream I keep having
Where my mama comes to me
And she kneels down over by the window
And says a prayer for me <3

  61. J.... S....

Miss this southern boy with that southern accent,..God, how I miss him,... R.I.P. Tom Petty xx

  62. A.... V....

    Love you Tom.

  63. C.... G....

Bless this guy...What a legend...He went too soon...
    Rest easy, Mr. Petty.

  64. S.... L....

There’s not a song out there that chokes me up as much as this one, It just hits me that hard.

  65. A.... L....

"For just a minute there, I was dreamin - for just a minute it was all so real, for just a minute she was standing there with me.
And there's a dream I keep having, where my mama comes to me - and kneels down over by the window and says a prayer for me ... "
For anyone who's lost their mama - it leaves such a hole in your life - and he was just a kid when it happened to him. Every time I hear this, I so feel his pain - he KEEPS having the dream - But I have a stronger feeling they're together now - no need to dream any more.

  66. T.... L....

Still crying! What an awesome man. We love you Tom. This one hurts

  67. G.... ....

This has always been my favourite Tom Petty song, such an emotional song, beautiful beyond belief

  68. B.... S....

    GO GATORS!

  69. L.... R....

    I miss this guy. 😘

  70. B.... ....

I was so crushed, so stunned, and felt so strangely betrayed somehow by Tom's sudden death, I couldn't spin him up without getting MAD at him, for only having done what everybody does.
How's THAT for a moron attitude? Sorry, Tom: Thanks for all the fun.

  71. T.... 1....

Was a fan from a little girl " Mudcrutch", then '78 Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers! Being a displaced Floridian, it makes me homesick, but he belonged to all of us, our Song Smith!!

  72. J.... R....

For years I was embarrassed of being from the deep south. I used to make an effort to hide my accent and not mention where I'm from but this song has totally changed my perception. I now feel lucky to be southern.

  73. H.... M....

    Better than the studio version.

  74. P.... B....

I absolutely LOVE this song, this performance.

  75. T.... T....

What a lullaby. Mom passed two weeks ago. I’m South of Canada 🇨🇦 eh I know beauty. I miss you so much Tp my inits

  76. b.... ....

An All Time GREAT that will never be forgotten.

  77. R.... G....

Always missed. Saw the California he loved. Loved him.

  78. K.... B....

    I see 187 thumbs down.
This tells me there is 187 peeps who do NOT know what true great music sounds like.

  79. J.... B....

    What a masterpiece.

  80. S.... J....

We want our prophets back! Godamn- am I gonna get old and die too???...if there's a heaven, and I have serious doubts, I hope Tom Petty is not the opening act. He should always be the Headliner!! ✌

  81. M.... D....

Dammit,I loved him like a brother.

  82. r.... l....

I was always a petty fan, but when we stood up to the record company on the price of his album I was a petty lover for life. he always stood up for his fans and he loved us like we loved him. he was real and he wrote real songs that was about real life, our life. it has been close to 18 months and I still l cant believe he is gone. I love this song. I have a country accent where I come from and people have always made fun of it so this song really was a big part of my learning not to care what they thought. I have my own way of talking where I come from. thank you tom for 40 years of the song book of my life. you will always live on because you will never be forgotten

  83. n.... v....

    I think it's fantastic ;)

  84. G.... R....

Oh my i listen to this so many times never get tired.... Tom Petty was the most humble man so true with his songs love and miss you Tom RIP

  85. S.... J....

Jackson Browne licks... Immitation is the highest form of flattery..same concert lays down Dough Boy licks like touch of grey was onstage...makes me hope there is a ROCK N ROLL HEAVEN...

  86. T.... ....

    Melts my heart.

  87. L.... G....

    Mercy...

  88. T.... F....

That's the same for me. I felt like I rediscovered him after he passed. I remember listening to songs like Here's comes my girl / the Waiting and Breakdown / Letting you go when I was high school cutting our big front lawn on my grandfather's 1960's John Deere tractor and just listening on my Walkman and never gave it much thought. Then he passed and I discovered his library of great songs which to me ranks up there with the Beatles and other great song writers and I say to myself, "wow, he was an amazing muscian and songwriter. God broke the mold after he created Tom Petty and his music is so timeless.

  89. D.... S....

Where I listened to him with my ears, I now hear him with my Heart and Soul. I will forever feel you deep within my Psyche.

  90. R.... C....

This song so beautifully evokes Tom's love of his mother and his hometown.

  91. E.... B....

    Tom, we miss you....

  92. H.... M....

This live version is much better then the original studio version.

  93. S.... C....

i just to cry listing to this song

  94. a.... g....

    best song ever

  95. C.... B....

My heart can’t help but cry with pride when listening to this. He certainly had his own way of living and the future history of music will know it!

  96. M.... ....

This song is like Tom singing a hymn.
